I totally missed that DH was married. I wonder how they met.

[h=3]Juror discharged - case will continue with 11 on jury[/h]Before proceedings start today a juror has been discharged.
The judge Mr Justice Turner said the juror was ill and receiving treatment and they didn’t have enough information about his possible return so he has been discharged and the trial will continue with 11 jurors.

[h=3]Ex-husband of co-accused takes witness stand[/h]The first witness today is Kevin Walsh, the ex-husband of co-accused Katrina Walsh.
The crown have earlier alleged that Sarah WIlliams’ tried to “recruit” him as part of the plot to murder Sadie Hartley.
He tells the court he met Katrina, known as Kit, in 1983 and they married in 1984. He says the marriage ended in 2008 but the pair reconciled as friends soon after.

[h=3]Katrina Walsh's 'very strange' contact with ex-husband[/h]Mr Walsh said in August last year he got a text from Katrina saying “weird request, Sarah would like to see you.”
He replied “Why?????” and Kit said “something nefarious I would think”.
Kevin Walsh said he replied saying “well you can give her my number.”
He says he thought this contact was “very strange.”

[h=3]Williams tried to meet Mr Walsh[/h]Mr Walsh says he later received a call from Sarah Williams.
He says: “She said she had a job for me that she reckoned would suit my particular key skills, whatever they were.
“She didn’t want to discuss what this job was over the phone.
“She wanted to see me in person and she was happy to come up to see me in Yorkshire.”
He says he was “very taken aback by this” and told Miss Williams he would have a think and get back to her.
He later says: “She explained I wouldn’t be able to phone her back on this number because she was using a burner sim.”
He corrects this to say she said she was using a “disposable pay and go sim.”

[h=3]Mr Walsh: 'Alarm bells were going off in my head'[/h]Mr Walsh says the phone number, which he originally saved in his phone as Sarah, got back in touch.
He says he is a warehouseman and “not in the slightest” could he think what part of his “skill set” Sarah was referring to.
He says the fact she was using a disposable sim card meant “alarm bells were going off in my head, definitely.”
He says he later saved the number in his phone to “Ignore” so “I wouldn’t even be tempted to answer.”
John McDermott, prosecuting, reads a text out from Kit Walsh, in reply to one from Kevin where she admits what Sarah Williams wanted to discuss was likely “V dodgy.”

My guess would be that they met at the Ski Centre/Travel Agency where Williams worked. From what I remember, Williams went on her ski holidays with DH.

Interesting that Williams was quite clearly using DH as an income supply - or as one of my pals usually says - a walking wallet - and therefore she had no difficulty in her mind in telling herself that IanJ was doing exactly the same with Sadie.

[h=3]'Katrina Walsh claimed from prison that Sarah Williams was trying to frame her'[/h]The court is read a letter from Kit Walsh to Kevin from prison in March where she says: “I have a big incentive for her to be found guilty”.
The letter is also said to say: “I want her put away for a long time. I don’t fancy my chances of survival if she gets out.”
Mr Walsh says his ex-wife was telling him: “It was all down to Sarah and that she was trying to frame her for it.”

[h=3]Mr Walsh on Williams: 'I had always been very dubious of her'[/h]Mr Walsh says Sarah was “pushing for this meeting.” He adds: “She had already said she didn’t want to discuss it over the phone so I was slightly suspicious.
“I had always been very dubious of her. Why did she contact me after eight years?”
Under cross-examination from Gordon Cole QC, defending Miss WIlliams, Mr Walsh admits “it could have been anyone who wrote the texts.”
However he says: “It was Sarah on the phone, let’s make that clear.”
However Mr Cole says: “Let me put it to you plainly, you are mistaken. And if not mistaken you are saying it deliberately out of some misplaced loyalty to Kit.”
Mr Walsh denies this and insists it was Sarah Williams on the other end of the phone.

[h=3]Katrina Walsh's prison letter to ex-husband[/h]The court is told Kit Walsh sent Kevin a total of seven letters from prison whilst on remand between February and April this year. Mr Walsh says he also visited his ex-wife in person twice.
He agrees with Tony Cross QC, defending, Mrs Walsh that her alleged involvement in this alleged offence would be “very much outside of her normal character.”
A fuller extract is read from one of Mrs Walsh’s earlier mentioned prison letters to Kevin Walsh.
In it she says:
“I am sure I was to die with a confession. She thought she had more time and my printer ran out of ink, or I would have died on the Saturday I think.
“I REALLY want her convicted and away for a long time as I don’t fancy my chances of survival if she’s out.”
Mr Walsh says that when he visited her in prison he believed that “she was genuinely very frightened.”

Well Walsh is cetainly making sure she writes it all down to coin her phrase.

Having stated clearly in her diary that she had no moral qualms about assisting in the killing of Sadie, was hugely excited about being involved and her only worry being the fear of getting caught, she now seems to have decided to cover her back in prison and get the finger pointed well and truly at Williams as the only guilty party.

ETA I wonder if she will take the stand. I think a good prosecution would tie her in knots

She's also claimed that SW tampered with her diaries.

What I don't get is when she said Sarah told me if I don't write it down it didn't happen. Can't fathom that one out.

Kevin told the court that he didn't often hear from his ex-wife, apart from at Christmas and Birthdays, and he found her August request to be "very strange". The text exchange was as follows:
21st August 2015:
Katrina: "A weird request. Sarah would like to see you."
Kevin: "Why???"
Katrina: "Something nefarious I would think."
Kevin Walsh married Katrina Walsh in 1984 but separated from her in 2008. Since then, Kevin had moved to North Yorkshire and the pair hadn't seen each other face to face in two years. During his relationship with Katrina he would regularly see Sarah Williams but after their separation, he hadn't seen her for around 8 years.
Three days after Katrina's August text; a number, believed to be linked to Sarah Williams, contacted Kevin's phone: "Hi will ring you this evening 7.30-8pm. May be best to meet up for a chat if you can manage that? S."

Kevin explained that Sarah had told him she was using a disposable pay as you go SIM card that she would be taking in and out of her phone, meaning he couldn't call her back. Kevin went on to block the number he believed to be linked to Sarah Williams because he "thought it suggested a complete lack of trust or that she was up to something dodgy."
Mr Cole, defending Sarah Williams, put it to Mr Walsh that he must be mistaken and that he hadn't in fact been speaking to Sarah Williams on the phone. Kevin Walsh fiercely disputed that statement and assured the jury that it was definitely Sarah Williams.

...

Mr Cross, defending Katrina Walsh, read aloud an extract of one of the letters Katrina has sent to Kevin from prison. In it Katrina said she was scared of Sarah Williams and believed Williams was planning to frame her for Sadie's murder. She detailed her concerns that Sarah may have been planning to poison and kill her and leave a printed confession in Katrina's name. Sarah was arrested before Katrina believes she was able to carry this out. Her words read: "I want her [Sarah] away for a good long time because I don't fancy my chances of survival if she's out."

[h=3]'Plan B will be needed'[/h]That concludes Mr Walsh’s evidence who leaves the witness box.
The court is read an extract from Kit Walsh’s diary which Mr McDermott, prosecuting, says appears to have been written following Mr Walsh’s rebuttal to Sarah Williams.
It says:
“Kev not going for the idea of being a hitman after all.
“Scuppering that idea. Plan B will be needed.”

Has this witness said if they outright asked him to be a hitman or is he claiming he had no idea what they were planning?

[h=3]'Sarah Williams ordered first of two trackers'[/h]Another extract dated 18th October last year reads: “Just buzzing too much over the end of Hunted.”
The court was earlier told Mrs Walsh told police she thought she was involved in a game similar to the Channel 4 show where participants try to evade military style surveillance.
The extract continues:
“Sarah has ordered a GPS tracker on my credit card to be delivered here and will give me cash for it.
“That’s fine as I’m not going to be involved at the sharp end.”
Mr McDermott says this was the first of two trackers which were ordered with both being signed for by Katrina Walsh.

I took it that Williams who was, no doubt, aware of how Walsh had to write everything down, was perhaps worried that Walsh would keep a very accurate record of the murder and was trying to stop her from doing so.
