Does anyone know why the court listing has redacted the names of the defendants and says "Direction under Section 45A of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999, DTA" ?

(from the Courtserve listings)

It is interesting that court serve are choosing to do this.

The Law Pages however, is publishing openly.

I agree with everything you have said about how horrific the injuries to Sara were. It is just unimaginable the pain she must have suffered .
<modsnip> I think them being with loving family in a completely different environment might be better for them than being put in care and possibly separated if they had been forcibly returned to the U.K
I am not sure I agree with this since the grandparents are the parents of 2 of the 3 people on trial. However loving a family they may be it doesn’t reflect well on their care or on them as people that 2 of their sons are on trial for murder and that they helped all 3 on trial hide.
Totally.
I just hope the authorities manage to get the children back to the UK. Being in his care would not be great ( IMO of course )
I quite agree with you @Alyce . I really do not think they should remain with the grandparents in Pakistan. This is especially so since they’re the parents of 2 of the 3 accused and you have to assume they brought them up, so they’re definitely not the best people to be caring for the children.

Edited to add IMO

This is so much worse than I ever could imagine.

Brutal

Sadistic

Evil

All of it torture.

The level of violence, pain, fear would have been off the charts.

Poor Sara. Her body is telling her story and it is beyond horrific.

Schoolgirl suffered at least 71 fresh injuries although true total unknown, jury told

:(

Jurors were taken through a catalogue of at least 71 recent injuries found on Sara Sharif’s body by a pathologist.

However Dr Cary told the Old Bailey that it is impossible to know if each mark was the result of one injury or multiple injuries,
meaning the total figure is not known.

"There are multiple marks all over the body,”
the expert told the court.
They include bruises, abrasions, skin ulcers consistent with burns, probable bite marks and an incised wound consistent with sharp force trauma on her left arm, the court heard.

In addition,
a CT scan revealed multiple skeletal injuries,
the jury was told.

The schoolgirl was subjected to a “campaign of abuse” and suffered “brutal” injuries
in the weeks before she died,
it is alleged.

All three defendants deny charges of murder and causing or allowing her death.

Google says.

Section 45A Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 enables court to grant lifelong anonymity to child witnesses and victims. Reporting restrictions have been expanded to cover all online content in addition to print and broadcast media.

Maybe her brother is testifying?
Yes -and actually they might put restrictions in place to stop the press now naming the other children even if the brother is not called as a witness. And it may be that the child who received the 'urgent' WhatsApp message has been named in court but the name cannot be published.

BBM

All three defendants deny charges of murder and causing or allowing her death.

So what is it that the defendants do NOT deny?

Legal punishment? Love as the note says?

What do they accept that they have done?

If they didn’t kill her and did not cause her death, how did Sara die?

I doubt that any of them are going to testify and it looks like, from earlier reporting, that U and B are just going to blame each other ( via statements ) whilst F is saying he knows nothing.

Could it not be anonymity for all the children in order that they cannot be identified (e.g. both parents on trial, which could identify the children, who are subject to Childcare Proceedings).

Thinking about the WA reporting - I think this was reported in error. I am not saying that it did not happen, but that it should not have been reported.
