"Sara Sharif was innocent soul,

murder accused said.

A woman accused of killing 10-year-old Sara Sharif
had told her sister
the girl was an 'innocent soul' who needed love,
a court heard.

Ms Batool sent images of Sara’s injuries to her sister Qandeela S.,
but then deleted them from the message stream,
the court heard.

The recovered images showed multiple injuries to Sara."

"Sara Sharif’s stepmother
blamed the 10-year-old’s naughty behaviour for the beatings she received,
even suggesting she had a “jinn in her”,
a court has heard.

Batool repeatedly complained to her sister
that Sharif was hitting Sara
for being 'naughty, rude and rebellious',
and because she had cut up his clothes,
hidden keys and torn up documents.

Batool said that Sara had cut her father’s clothes for being mean
and Sharif was 'punishing her' by making her stay up all night doing 'sit-ups'.

After Batool had gone to bed, she said Sharif was in the other room
making Sara 'put her hands up'.

By 2022,
Batool said she was planning on taking
'legal advice'
but was advised by her sister to give it time and not rush.

The day before Sara died,
Ms S. tried to make contact
but Batool told her she was
'not in the mood to speak'."

After reading the articles from what was discussed in court. I question also the sister of batool...how do you look at pictures ofa child being so beaten and how you reply to batool.." dont leave, give it time:"..any normal person would be saying leave him now and get the children away from him..I don't understand these people at all...if she had decent bone in her body she could have reported this and saved Sara. My heart aches

As early as February 2020, Batool described Sharif as going on a "rampage" after spilling hot tea, saying he was "possessed".

She described an "anger attack" after a visit to a play centre and incidents in which Sharif broke photo frames and curtains.

On another occasion, Batool said Sharif "went ballistic" and "beat Sara up like crazy", expressing fears that he would break her arm or leg.

May 2021, Batool told Ms S.:
"Not great in our house,
it's all a bit manic. Urfan beat the crap out of Sara and my mind is all in bits.
I really want to report him."

"Why the hell doesn't Urfan learn - she's covered in bruises, literally beaten black."

Afterwards, Sharif sat "on his fat bum" and played the board game Ludo,
she said.

These messages sink U.
IMO.

Let's see what U's Defense has to say.

As predicted, the trio fight among themselves.

JMO
Oh yeah..they are honestly as bad as each other and as predicted they will try take each other down...even though they put sara through what I can only describe as hell on earth not one of them has any Shame to admit what they did...I also find it very hard to believe a 10 year old knowing they are going to get beaten would do things like tear clothes, documents etc. I just think this is the step mum covering up to try justifying what is happening.. still thinking of those bite marks and not coming from any of the Males..I honestly think what is going to come out is going to get worse.

Sara Sharif 'forced to do sit-ups all night' by dad who told stepmum to 'cover bruises with makeup'

In February, B wrote Sara was vomiting “randomly” and she could not breathe.

Later that year, Batool said she was considering taking Sara out of school, saying:
“I don’t want to but kinda don’t have a choice. It’s not hard home schooling. I’m just fed up of her behaviour and Urfan’s."

“Sara’s body is literally bruised because Urfan beat her up. I cannot even cover it up. He beat Sara up yesterday and I can’t send her to school on Monday looking like that."

Days later, she said Sara’s school was worried about her and Sharif was “stressed” about it.

In apparent reference to Sara’s injuries, she wrote: “Urfan told me to cover it up with makeup and she’s going to wear sunglasses.”

Haven't caught up with this thread, but read today's news.
One thing I can't get my head around, if Batool's messages are to be taken at face value, including the assertions about her wanting to report him to the police...

Why did she continue to have more children with him!

B added:
"Why the hell I'm even letting him in the house.

I'm sorry for Sara, poor girl cannot walk.
She literally fainted in the kitchen in the morning.
He made her do sit-ups all night."

Asked what Sara had done, Batool said:
"Because she hid the keys."

I had this same thought when I read the earlier report that was released about text messages. To me it seemed like either Batool was creating evidence to cover up and shift blame and/or indicative of a toxic family dynamic in Batool's family.

Also, I recall reading that Sara was seen sitting in the garden with the baby and her aunts. Were the aunts Batool's sisters? If so, and they were visitng the house frequently, they too could be considered "members of the household".

(4)For the purposes of this section—

(a)a person is to be regarded as a “member” of a particular household, even if he does not live in that household, if he visits it so often and for such periods of time that it is reasonable to regard him as a member of it;

(b)where V lived in different households at different times, “the same household as V” refers to the household in which V was living at the time of the act that caused the death or serious physical harm.

What is B insinuating?

She added in other messages:
"There’s something that’s not right with her like mentally;
She needs to get help;
She’s an innocent soul man who needs love."

Another item of info:

In 24 November, 2022,
Ms Batool messaged Ms S. saying that she was
“too stressed to talk”
and that
she and Mr Sharif had separated.

Ms Batool said Mr Sharif was going to Pakistan the following day,
adding:
“He went crazy today”,
and that he had taken money and a passport.

And something else that doesn't make sense. Urfan was certainly not staying up all night to ensure the child was doing sit-ups, so why wouldn't Batool intervene and tell the child to go to bed? Also, how is Sara so compliant when she's taking her punishments, but then does things like ripping up documents and cutting up his clothes! None of this makes any sense.

Another thing I find slightly creepy is that she made a reference to herself (along the lines of, Sara's naughty behaviour reminded Batool of herself at that age). What if she's re-enacting her childhood. Rips up his documents and cuts up his clothes, then tells him that Sara did it for some sort of gratification as she watches him beat her up?

Also, her concern in those messages belies the fact that screams were heard in the house when no other adult was present.

Sara's "sit ups"
are déjà vu of
Logan M's "push ups"

IMO :(

This is what's been worrying me. The prosecution have done a good job of showing to the jury how Sara was beaten black and blue with a cricket bat, pole, etc and strangled with a belt, but can they put those weapons into somebody's hands? If they can't prove that a particular person inflicted violence on Sara, then in law, can the jury convict anyone of murder? Might things end up like the verdict in the 'Baby P' case?

I posted that info as I thought it might inform on defence strategies.

The procedure in these cases would be that the prosecution will decide after all evidence is heard whether or not each of the charges has been made out for each of the defendants and the jury will be instruced accordingly. So it might be that the murder charge falls away for one or more of the defendants.

For sentencing, in this case, I don't think it will matter whether they're convicted of murder or the lesser charge. The maximum sentence (for the lesser charge) was changed from 14 years to "life imprisonment" for the highest degree of culpability. Being found guilty of murder would have a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment. This crime is also likely to have aggravating factors taken into consideration. IMO, I can see Urfan and Batool receiving life sentences, with the uncle being found less culpable. JMO.

Urfan is really a sadistic ( word I can't use on WS ) only a psychopath would think of getting a child to put their hands up and do sit ups all night .along with all the other torture Sara suffered

Bienash was either setting up a defence for many years which would be very twisted or genuinely terrified of urfan and prehaps Sara not being her child urfan told her to mind her own business. Tbh I have felt bienash was coerced into reading out the statement in the video from Pakistan and it was wrote by urfan to absolve him of wrongdoing

Prehaps when the men left to go to work ,Sara screamed because she was in pain and felt she couldn't release it while urfan was there and bienash verbally abused her by shouting at her and name calling with cuss words

I consider them both raving mad
and
I pity the poor children who had the misfortune to be born into this family from hell.

I also pity the poor Jury.
I hope they will be exempt from this duty for life after the trial.

I agree with the former.

I guess it's about perceptions. In the video statement, her nervousness could also be explained by the extent of the trouble that they've found themselves in. Including the fact that running off to Pakistan was not the solution that they thought it would be.

Ring doorbell footage shows the family leaving Hammond Road in a BMW X5 at 9.16am on 10 August 2023.

The car is then seen arriving at Heathrow short stay car park with Urfan in the driver's seat.

CCTV then shows Urfan, Batool and Malik going through security and passport control at the airport before boarding their flight to Pakistan around 1.22pm. The flight departed at 2pm.
