I think F was better placed to report and stop the abuse than either U or B. He moved in and was a fresh pair of eyes on what was going on, whereas the other two were probably so far down their dysfunctional paths they were locked into their hideous positions, some sort of abnormal interaction for which Sara paid with her life. Nothing was presented to suggest he had mental deficiencies. He wasn't acclimated as they were. I also think if any one of them had no part in Sara's abuse and death they would have called the oldest child as a witness for them. JMO
When did the abuse actually start?

When did the abuse actually start?
The court previously heard that Sara had been hooded, burned and beaten during more than two years of abuse before her body was found with dozens of injuries at the family’s home in Woking, Surrey, last year.

In May 2021, she wrote: “Urfan beat the crap out of Sara. She’s covered in bruises, literally beaten black.

As a result of Malik moving to the UK to study in Portsmouth in December 2022 and staying with his older brother, Batool was required to “cover up” while Malik had to maintain his distance.

The court heard that Malik had then moved with the couple in April 2023 to their council home in Woking, but had to remain “cautious” given that he legally should not have been residing at the property.

Reports always seem to say just 'more than two years of abuse', but earlier in the trial the prosecution referred to WhatsApp messages from Batool going back to 2019.

'On Thursday, William Emlyn Jones KC, prosecuting, read out a series of WhatsApp messages between Batool and her sister Saboohi from 2019 to 2023, which the court was told detailed the alleged abuse.

On 21 December 2020, Batool told Saboohi that Sharif would “regret” it if Sara revealed he “hits her like crazy and all the bruises” before adding: “I literally have to push Urfan out the way and save Sara.”'

So more than two and a half years, as a minimum.

Just curious really. Given that we know she sent the photos to her sister and had chats with them and also phoned them 30 times the day they fled is there any proof she is supposedly estranged from her family?
It was mention here that B was estranged from her family but I never saw a proof of it.
Though I read here whenever B went to visit her family, US had to remain in his car waiting for her, so....

Beinash wore western clothes and the neighbours said that Sara was the only one they saw wearing a hijab. I find it hard to believe that she covered up and Malik was forced to maintain his distance.

Well,
When presenting herself as a victim in the video,
B wore a hijab all right.

Although it was much more feminine than the one Sara had to wear to school.
Sara was wearing stark black one.
It didn't look comfortable and flattering IMO.
Quite the opposite.
Children rarely wear black clothes.
It is the colour suitable for funerals.

When I seen bienash in the video wearing the traditional Muslim women's attire . I felt she wore it because it would not be as acceptable in Pakistan for a women to show her hair or wear western clothing. I also thought urfans family would want him to be seen with a more traditional wife and prehaps were more strict in adhering to the laws of Islam.

Dotta did you happen to see the interview with urfans father ,the children's grand father. I caught a clip of it on SM but can't see a link for msm .

I'm presuming the grandfather was interviewed outside his home . It seemed quite 3rd worldly. I noticed corrugated structures and kind of run down buildings I don't mean any badness by that just from the type of city the kids came from it must be a shock to them .

It was not these interviews . It was an interview at night

I get it why she wore it.
I just don't like hypocrisy.

This is the issue I have too ,on what footing did each of the two stand .
I do believe the abuse would not have happened if urfan did not allow / instigate first. What pattern followed on from that we can only read between the lines .

I think when urfan beat Sara and began abusing Sara. Bienash became his "foot soldier " reporting what she deemed as boldness .So she held the power over the when ,this would make bienash the instigator here . And prehaps gaining delight in being able to appease urfan . I think as time moved on she actively participated in the beatings either by holding Sara down or restraining her till urfan got home to deliver the beating or them taking turns in delivering the beating .

I think she watched each time and this is how she came across in the messages to her sisters . I don't believe she was locked in a room . I believe she locked the room from the inside to prevent the other children from getting out .

There was a pair of them in it .Each one feeding off the other . Even in the messages to her sisters bienash is looking for her psychological " food" The poor me attitude feigned by poor Sara . Her message reads . Poor Sara ,urfan beat her black and blue . What am I to do ? This is bienash making the beating about herself. Its not how will i help sara . imo . A person who is aware of this misplaced victim attitude would have replied " this is not about you " this is about Sara .
My understanding is that U abused both children via physical violence before he met B. The family of O and U were known to SS, yes? I think U would have a used Sara regardless of who he was with. As Bs barrister said he hated Sara and he hated B. I believe that U hates all females, regardless of age.

One has to admit that senior Sharif urged his son to return to the UK to explain what happened.

And he cooperated with Pakistani authorities.
I guess this trial is possible also because of him.

This just popped into my head . I wonder did urfan and bienash go out as a couple on dates or just to the market and malik babysat the children . I didn't see this avenue explored by prosecution but would this angle have proven he knew of Sara's injuries

This photo made me wonder

It doesn't fit Urfan's profile to stay put in the car while a woman visited her relatives. Isn't he too hot headed/manic for that? Unless it suited him to have time on his phone etc

It seems telling to me that there appears to have been no discussion or suggestion between Beinash and Urfan that they return Sara to her mother, which would have solved the problems that both of them had with her.
Beinash could have sent her concerns and her photo's to Sara's mother, as well as to her own sister (she must have been super-confident that her sister would keep totally quiet)
Since they evidently did not care for Sara's welfare at all, it would have made no difference to them whether her mother treated her well or not, nor whether or not she wanted to go to her mother, they would have been rid of her, they would even have had the opportunity to blame any outstanding injuries on her mother
And her mother could well have got support and help from her own family.

Totally 3rd world. One frame looked filmed in an indoor chicken run. My feeling was that the grandpa wanted to be somewhere remote and incognito. JMO

Considering that Sharif was a taxi driver and Malik worked at McDonald’s, it seems they came from a poor-ish background in Pakistan. Sharif likely earned barely enough to support his six children and housewife, and had assistance from the council.

Malik’s income would have been around £15,000 to £20,000 per year, depending on his hours.

I wonder if this financial situation played a role in why Sharif kept Sara and her brother. Could it have been because the council was providing child support to supplement their income?

At best, he was an opportunist who thought that if he reported the abuse, he’d lose his place of stay in Urfan’s house and maybe, sponsorhip? I don’t know the rules of getting established in GB if you come on a student visa. At worst, the same, but he also sadistically enjoyed beating up Sara. Either way, a despicable person.
