Z being removed must surely have been from before Olga went back to Poland? Or did she go back twice? It sounds as if Z was not returned to Olga, anyway.

Just beats me how on earth that judge could have decided that U. and B. would be fit parents for Sara in 2019 I think it was. Waiting for independently-led safeguarding review of all professionals who had contact with the family, as mentioned Concerns raised about Sara Sharif's care 'within week of her birth'
Yes I agree it sounds like Z was never returned to their mother.

Yep.
The child was given to:
- thieves
- an addict (alcoholism, gambling)
- bigamists
- former wife/lover(?) of heroine dealer
- abusers
- violent madman, possible sadist
- vulgar and primitive woman who was screaming vile language at children
- both turned murderers

Phew!
So scary

It doesn't prove any allegations against Olga. Up till now I've been more supportive of Olga, but in the linked article it doesn't sound as if Olga was the best parent around either. Though - no child as far as we know actually died in her care. Undoubtedly she was a victim of Urfan, as his previous partner (Alexandra??) from Poland was, but being a victim of a partner doesn't mean that a child in the care of the victim cannot become a victim of that victim too. I am sorry for Olga - her little girl died at the hands of a violent, manipulative liar and his violent new wife/partner, after being tortured for a few years. Poor little girl and poor anybody who cared about her, which Olga probably did. MOO.

I'm waiting for this: independently-led safeguarding review of all professionals who had contact with the family, as mentioned here Concerns raised about Sara Sharif's care 'within week of her birth' Tho it probably won't be published for the public and all and sundry. Hoping it might make a difference to some child in the future.
Read the top of the article: Details from previous family court cases can now be published.
So, new information is coming out.

MOO

At Sara's School - they have a "Buddy Bench" in Sara's name. Also, they have setup a special Singing Award called Sara's Singing Award in Sara's honour for the "singing stars" in the school for years to come in Sara's memory.

I am not one to believe in strange events, but when the school held a memorial ceremony for Sara in the playground, a white feather fell on the "stage" - no bird in sight.

This resulted in everyone getting incredibly emotional. That feather now holds a place of prominence at the school in Sara's Memory box containing photos and messages from her friends and classmates.

That is how I will choose to remember Sara - a wonderful, loving child who in the face of such evil, still loved - her family, siblings and life itself. Through all the pain, she danced and sang and smiled such was her love for life.

An incredibly brave girl who never stopped believing that the world is a wonderful place.

Let us honor her memory by striving to make her belief a reality—creating a world where every child feels safe, loved, and cherished. Let us carry forward her light by embracing life and each other with the same love and courage she has shown us..

Sara, you are a true angel—on earth as you now are in heaven. I know you’re free from pain, smiling brightly, dancing with joy, and singing with pure happiness and love.

This is simply a little girl who was utterly failed.

I am glad this looks to be the catalyst for better home education regulation but as someone who works for a statutory service with safeguarding responsibilities, we report and report and report and even report again. I'm tired of being told they don't meet threshold.

I think and hope there will be a great deal of public and media interest and pressure for the details of how, why and by whom this child's torture and murder was left to unfold over so many years.
And I look forward to reading about the reasons for the part played by Surrey County Council in particular.

Chris Wild, a campaigner for children in care, described Sara's death as a 'mass failure' by the agencies who were meant to protect her.

Although there is no suggestion Ms Wardell was directly responsible for Sara's death, she was nonetheless in charge of children's care at the council during the relevant time.

An independent safeguarding review is under way into the agencies who dealt with the family.

Asked if Ms Wardell should return her OBE, Riasat Khan, an independent councillor for Woking North, said: 'She has a responsibility to put it right, if there was anything that went wrong.

I think at the end of the day . . . it would be more appropriate if she did [hand it back].'

Logan Mwangi's mother got at least 28 years and his step dad got at least 29 years. I wonder if US and BB will get similar. I feel like US should get more than that. If he came out after 29 years he'd be only just past pension age and i don't like the thought of him enjoying his retirement. Same for Logan's step dad

I think Urfan will get a whole life order or failing that 40+ years. Beinash I think will get 30+years before parole and Fairsal 12 + years.

It doesn’t offer encouragement to members of the public to report things they feel uneasy about, does it, if even statutory bodies cannot get action in place.

This has all made me think. I ran a project often working with vulnerable and troubled young people. We had a robust safeguarding policy, based on what we were advised was best practice and put it into action many times. Don’t release young people into an environment we believe to be unsafe following a disclosure… call the LADO… wait for SS to arrive etc.

But now I look back at some of the disclosures my staff dealt with and I think why on earth was our policy not to go straight to the police? If a member of staff came in and said they had been beaten or sexually abused / assaulted we would have given them a safe space and called the police! Why are crimes against children dealt with through multi agency layers of what amounts to bureaucracy?

Am I missing something?

Exactly.

Procedures in the school I work are straightforward.

If a teacher suspects abuse,
a child is looked over by a school nurse
and in case of suspicious injuries Police is informed.

And they start their procedures.

Simple.

Time is of the essence for maltreated children.
They need rapid action,
not bureaucratic machine.

My school cooperates with local Police Station, Psychological Center for children and Social Services Office.
We are in constant communication through headteacher and school Counselor/Psychologist.

" 'Veil of secrecy'

over Sara Sharif scandal

after judge bans naming of colleague who gave girl back to her killer dad."

"Children's services
'ignored warnings'
before Sara Sharif's death,
with the PM saying questions must now be answered.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer
has said that questions must be answered over the "awful" case.

He said there needs to be safeguards for children, especially those being home-schooled like Sara."

A simple wellbeing check is all that is required, for all children not attending schools. Unannounced. You know like the TV licencing vans that drive around (or used to, I'm not sure if they still do that), they could have a mobile unit with a health visitor on board. The child would go into the unit, like a mini clinic, to be checked over, so no agreement of parents required to enter the home. The parents/carers would have a number to call to make sure it's a bona fide visit, or receive a list of registered health visitors from the local authority in advance.

Just for the health and wellbeing of the child, nothing else, like overseeing education. Perhaps linked up automatically with the family GP if they haven't had cause to see the child that year.

So desperately sad for Sara, and place full blame on these vile hateful parent and step parent. Murder was the right verdict and I hope they rot.

We do need a new and theraputic system of care for children who need to be removed from abusive and neglectful homes. This would be a hugely worthwhile investment and give the safeguarding teams an actual good option when needing to pull kids out. Current fostering system just can’t do what is needed and safeguarding teams are burned out by having to make no-win decisions day after day. And the kiddos suffer for it.

Like all of us, hoping to see some change to make it easier to protect these precious children.
