If it's true that Suzy knew someone named Herring who lived in Shorrolds Road, it's either a coincidence or somebody (Suzy or the person she was meeting) was using a false name via word association.
The Herring you mention are JH
He knew SJL
JH previously house shared in Wardo Av.
SJL had visited the house on one ocassion.
JH was called Kipper or Kip at school
He was living in Shorrolds rd at the time SJL went missing.
From memory he owned a BMW - but dont quote me on that

He said he didnt think SJL knew he lived in Shorrolds rd - DV says in his book his records showed that SJL had attended a party at number 54SR around the time he had moved to SR

His brother PH was Sturgis estate agency client

Police eliminated JH & PH from their enquiries

Maybe, but equally, who would have thought SJL's car - the only known crime scene - would have been taxed and driven around for four more years? Or that nobody would check in 1986 for recently released sex offenders and then in 2000 investigate only one such? Or that the list of possible suspects would be people who were in Fulham that day, ignoring BW's sighting of SJL heading out of Fulham? Some very odd things have happened and failed to happen in this investigation.

You are swimming against an overwhelming tide.

1. The vehicle was returned to Sturgis once the forensic examination was complete. This is standard practice. Police do not need to retain vehicles.

2. What MSM do you have to support that known sex offenders were not cross-checked?

3. The initial request was quite correct in seeking sightings in Fulham, as the information and a witness suggested that SJL went to Shorrolds Road. We also know her car was found in Stevenage Road. This was an initial search for witnesses and information from the area in which it was believed that SJL was abducted.

4. Any call for the public's assistance needs to be specific and with limitations build in, regarding the information being sought, for obvious reasons.

5. BW's sighting was not ignored. Provide MSM for that assertion.

Did either of them know HR

It would not matter if they did, providing each of their statements were only what they saw as individuals and that they had not compared notes with any other witness, beforehand.

Some good points - I still think that BW saw her that afternoon.

My theory’s change like the wind unfortunately and especially when I see some of the wonderful posts put forward on here.

I can’t rule out her wanting to move up in the world and putting her house on the market and champagne man was somehow part of that. We know she was due to get a £3000 payment from somewhere.
It's called being open to fresh ideas and it does you credit :)

All quite coincidental though when you look at the facts like that.

I don't think it is coincidental! I suggest that SJL made the diary entry to meet someone she knew, but did not know their surname. She associated Shorrolds Road with Herring living there and chose Kipper as a clever pun, i.e. red herring is a Kipper.

SJL and the 'Putney Set' were known for giving nicknames to people they knew. She may have been a wag, with a quick wit.

Which nobody does. He was there about 3 and HR later misremembered this as earlier. If he had been prompted 'was that about 1?' he would certainly have agreed.
The Crimewatch re-enactment reports Mark Gurden's first sortie to Shorrolds Rd occurred at 4.30 pm, not earlier. This was approximately one hour after her absence started to become of concern, at 3.30 pm. Suzy Lamplugh neither told anyone where she was going nor when she would return. Naturally there would have been some been latitude on her colleagues part before they started taking affirmative action to find out where she was. Mark Gurden also had his own appointment(s) to keep so there was possibly an element of juggling on his part.

Herring sounds like the landlords surname, she may have associated Kipper with that

Suzy Lamplugh neither told anyone where she was going nor when she would return.
In the tv documentary The Vanishing of Suzy Lamplugh. The office junior spoke and in his own words said Suzy had asked him to get the keys to 37 Shorrolds for her she was going to do a quick showing and then go for lunch.

Sorry no link avail for this programme you might find it on iplayer

It's perfectly feasible to have two timelines, due to the variation in the witness sightings of BW and WJ.

BW's sighting, although it was late doesn't preclude that after she saw who she thought was SJL, in the Fiesta, that the car turned left off Fulham Palace Road towards Stevenage Road.

Personally, I think it was a ghost sighting for a number of reasons, which is not uncommon. I'd like to know what BW was doing in the week before she provided her statement, e.g. at home, working, holiday, and why the delay in coming forward when it was your friend and reported on every news report and paper for days?

The investigation team will split and develop each time line to either progress it or eliminate it.

Yep - I think DV has muddied the water with his book because facts are now suddenly being questioned.

Rudeness and personalizing against other members is a violation of Websleuths TOS.

Hint #1
Review your post and if you are seeing a whole bunch of "you" in your post, chances are it is personalizing against the member you are addressing.

Hint #2
Don't Report a post as "rude" when it was simply a response to your own rude and personalizing post. Having said that, rude posts AND any responses to them will get your post removed .. or worse.

This case has been around a long time with discussion going in circles. In addition to having families and real lives, our moderators spend a lot of time dealing with hundreds of other current and fast moving threads on Websleuths. You all know The Rules, so don't make extra work for our Moderators or you may find yourself on the outside looking in and/or the thread may disappear.

Old Websleuths adages:

ADDRESS THE POST AND NOT THE POSTER !! and/or SCROLL & ROLL

Websleuths has over 200,000 members, thousands of active threads, and only 3 or 4 active Moderators keeping this forum up and running 24/7 . We value our Moderators, so if the extra work caused for them by this discussion continues, Admin has no issue with closing the discussion down until there is new MSM to warrant new discussion.

How true is this , lamplughs dna in a car belonging to Cannan only for the CPS to say it cannot be proved they were in it at the same time, so both had access to the same car ? how else can it be explained away, thats if the article is true.

The most compelling, he alleges, is the discovery of DNA in the Ford Sierra vehicle the murderer was using at the time. He says the Crown Prosecution Service, however, deemed that did not prove Cannan and Suzy were in the vehicle together.

Wiki also carry's the same.

In 2007, a criminologist who had corresponded with Cannan revealed that the police reinvestigations of 2000–2002 had discovered DNA evidence in a car previously owned by Cannan that showed Lamplugh had previously been inside the vehicle.[57] The criminologist had pointed out to police that Cannan himself said he had access to a red Ford Sierra at the time Lamplugh disappeared, which police were previously unaware of.[57] Detectives subsequently attempted to find the car and discovered it in a north London scrap yard, allowing them to conduct DNA analysis on it.[58][6] Although these tests indicated Lamplugh had been in the car, as well as Cannan, the Crown Prosecution Service felt there was insufficient evidence to prove that they had been in the vehicle at the same time, meaning charges were unable to be brought against Cannan for her murder.[59] Although he previously had said he drove this car often, Cannan has since changed his story and now denies ever using the vehicle.[57] This is despite the fact that the man who lent it to him has confirmed that Cannan had access to it at the time and said Cannan may have had used it on the day Lamplugh disappeared.

The problem with JC is how do you convince Suzy to go somewhere else unless they knew each other?

She knows she has to get back to her job and no sign of anything being off in the property at SR.

Do we know if all vacant property’s were checked?

There is zero reason to place MG at Shorrolds at 1.15pm unless he is now a suspect and he wasn’t off having lunch with other colleagues.

The time line doesn’t fit at all!!

MOO

Isn't the point that the timing might be off due to the witness being a little unreliable or mistaken?

Out of interest was there a Diana thing going on in late 80’s?

Like the Rachel cut of the 90’s I guess :)

Yes 100% - I was a teenager in the 80s and Lady Diana as, she was, became quickly popular and most especially the hair cut - layered, flicked, and stepped at the back or the 'DA' (duck's arse) as it was known - all firmly held in place with a hefty dose of hairspray. By 1985 half of all women had that cut.

At the same time it was also the era of new romantic asymetrical short-long hair and the likes of David Bowie, ABC, and Wham! (who weren't 'out' yet) inspired the men to go all layered and floppy fringe.

I would like to know more about how JH was eliminated as for obvious reasons, his school nickname had been Kipper (which he wasn't fond of), he lived on the street, and has possibly been disingenuous in saying SJL didn't know he lived there. It's all rather much.
