UK UK - Suzy Lamplugh, 25, Fulham, 28 Jul 1986 #7

He did appear to have reddish hair and not the dark hair that was reported . He could have been tanned from working on the ship though . I wonder what height he was .

The sightings reported on Shorrolds Road could have been MG and SF

Steve Wright tended to murder women who worked in the sex industry and apparently the controversy surrounding AS book and the reason lamplughs went to court to have things removed is that it was alluded to in the book that suzy allegedly engaged in prostitution . Suzy even by today's acceptable norms did engage in a sex life that the majority of young women with a boyfriend would not and she slept with a group of men whom were friends of each other . Now as I've said before suzy may have being passed around by misogynistic men , the" you have a go "attitude of certain types . It just seems a little bit more than casual sex with a stranger you meet in a club on random Weekend out with your mates imo

The only reason I was wondering was he involved is because I hadn't read anywhere that Steve and suzy maintained a friendship until the guardian article.

I'm aware it was written in the ships log that he was working that day and out at sea but could it be that he swapped shifts with somebody and it just wasn't rectified in the log and after so many years the swapped shift was forgotten. I remember swapping shifts with other employees and not imforming the boss l as long as wages remained the same and shifts swapped were same amount of hours.

It just piqued my interest as the JC theory doesn't seem to be going anywhere even after JC's death there has been no media articles reiterating evidence that detectives had against him

I really feel personal differences between the lamplughs and the SIO and Diane engaging in political inteference and I suppose a drive to be in control of the direction of the investigation, really hampered any future cold case review I feel the only way this case will be solved is suzys remains being found accidentally by a member the public, a death bed confession stating location of her body or a reliable witness coming forward with solid information.

With the her car having been returned to sturgis and cannans red Sierra/ fiesta long gone and diaries returned to family and deteration of samples over 40 years I don't think even development in forensics will help solve this case .

I wonder if the upcoming 40 th anniversary and cannans death will focus attention back on her case and prehaps a bbc spotlight or netflix doc will reveal new previously held back information

I posted an article a few pages back and it states her dad Paul saying Steve and suzy stayed in contact and regularly met up . It was a surprise to me too as I was of the same opinion as you Lee
i did see a interview with SW father. he said he had a photo of SW taken on the QE2, and on that photo was SL with other members of the crew.

Hi -Hope everyone has had a lovely and safe Easter.
Agree Su5ie -totally Netflix should absolutely do a doc on her case.
Can I ask, is there a reward system in the UK for cold case information? Here its like 500k - 1mil for any information on cold cases.

I am certainly no forensics expert - so would love some opinions here - the perp if she was killed on Monday 28th - would only have 1 day at most to dispose of her body before rigor mortis really sets in and everything that goes with that - especially in the middle of summer. If SJL was in a house surely the smell would permeate everything for months . The likelihood of digging a grave somewhere is probably unlikely unless it was really remote. So that only leaves water?
The whole case is tremendously sad for all of its missteps. And here we are 40 years later.

I would travel to London from Oz in 2026 for the 40th anniversary - absolutely.

if SL put in fake appointment, then why choose such a bizarre name like kipper. if she was trying to fool MG office manager, then why did she not put in fake details on a client requirement card for mr kipper, location/price willing to pay etc.
SL didn't do the diary entry.
The supposedly Australian temporary secretary did it.
After the initial LE interviews of SL's colleagues some of them then pretended that the temp secretary had then headed to Australia ( to avoid her being investigated ).
This false diary entry sent LE to Shorrolds Road on a wild goose chase.
IMO

Yes Lee I seen this too , and have known through other reports that they worked together and were friendly towards each other on the ship and at no time is it implied that they were romantically involved with each other or in any way close. So I was surprised to see the report from suzys dad Paul saying that Steve wright and suzy regularly met up after they both finished working for the QE11 cruise ship .

I wonder is this who she went to the car race with in May. This was a major event as it was the last time this would be held on this race track . I wonder have LE ever done a request for photos from the public of the event to see who suzy was with . As suzy did say that whomever she was with really scared her that day
( although she did refain from naming them )and she became very frightened, did she turn a friend down who made an advance and that" friend " killed her on the day she disappeared. I do think that whoever she spent the day at the race track is the key to solving the mystery and solving this case once and for all

Extract from the Daily Express 7th October 2023;

"She(sjl) was never seen again and no body has been found. Mr Dickie revealed forensics experts are using technology to grow DNA in a lab sourced from a smudged fingerprint on the rear view mirror of Suzy’s car..."

Any update on this, o wise ones?

SW partner who he met on QE2 said he never talked about SL after she went missing. strange if they were friends.

SW was nearly 50 when he became the ipswich serial killer. that does seem late to start. did he start earlier as a young man.

i think SL parents made up the story about the scary man she went out with. after SL went missing DI johnstone original investigator asked DL and PL if there was any man SL was afraid of, and according to johnstone they replied no, they could not think of anyone. if she mentioned this mystery man who took her to the car event, then they would have gave that information straight away. they told the scary man story years after SL disappeared. iam not having a pop at her parents, i just find it strange.

Her uncle also came out with that story in the ITV Real Crime programme from circa 2002. It chimes with the Cannan did it narrative, but god knows if it’s true or not…

Was Uncle Mark and D/P Lamplugh talking about the same "scary man?".

I've been reading AS again and I'm partway through DV (again!). I'm also wondering about when the "scary man" entered the picture. I could have misremembered this, but I seem to recall a "scary man" story soon after the "Mr Kiper and the abandoned BMW" lead failed to produce results (ergo the Ls finding an opportunity to keep the case going, regardless).

i surprised SL car was returned to sturgis. it should have been impounded as evidence. its a key piece of evidence, yet it was given back to sturgis. we know mr kipper ditched the car on stevenage rd. i suspect he was driving the fiesta that day, so why was it not kept.

yes, her uncle mark said SL was being leaned on in some way and was angry about it. he did not really go into detail about who or why.

i agree. did DL make up the story about scary man because the investigation was going cold. did she want to keep it going by creating a mystery man. if so that is bizarre because she never mentioned him before, so its obvious she was telling lies.

Does anybody have a concise theory regarding Suzy’s disappearance?
Not sure it's a concise theory, but I think it was probably JC.

Encounters Suzy in a bar and finds out she's an estate agent in Fulham.
Stalks her and plans a surprise encounter, posing as a businessman buyer.
He thinks he can charm her with his cheesy champagne gift etc, and take her to lunch, but things go sour.
So he goes to plan B (abduction - for which he's always prepared) and takes her to his local lair.
After the murder he leaves London for good, burying Suzy somewhere north of the city.
He then heads to his mother's home in the Birmingham area before relocating to Bristol and resuming his stalking and sexual deviancy.

Basically what the police think happened!

It’s a very plausible (and concise) theory if it is JC. I’m prepared to believe it is him, but I want more proof, and I’m not happy with what LE have offered us in that department.
