Surely not.

Possibly with JC in mind, by June 1987 the police consider SL ‘dropped’ Kipper at a ‘building to do business’ He ‘invites her in’ things then go wrong. Later he joins friends at a South London pub.

The timeline is off but their ideas are interesting (!)

Was the person @Clairybums flags ever a person of interest?

So the Police are suggesting that she was never at 37 Shorrolds Road according to that article by The People? What about the 3 sightings? This is only a year after the fact. Unless it's just a made up theory by the journalist. No Police on the record. Not even a Police source said.

37 Shorrolds was considered a possible invention by SL right at the beginning of the investigation by the police (AS).

Not everyone agreed with sequence of events & the very confused timeline didn’t help.

For his ‘regular drink’ at lunchtime in a ‘South London’ pub suggests some investigation along these lines (?)

There’s another article suggesting accomplices I will look for.

IIRC Barley thought in 1986 that she never went to Shorrolds.

Yes, some of the DV surmises weren’t new. This ‘errand’ has also been problematic, I think, for some on investigation re: timescales. The police appear to think the ‘secret’ diary/contact book was ‘salacious’ (DV) at least in part. Given AN in it & investigated etc there might be supporting evidence here too.

No one would want a book like that to linger indefinitely in a pub in a stranger’s hands. KH did read through it to try to find owner’s contact details. In 80s usually you’d put these on inside cover or first page. The fact it didn’t have these and family friends never seen it before (DV) might suggest it was very private indeed.

@ScotsPaddy That is indeed correct. That's an Austin Maestro for sure.

Hi this is what I posted and i have put an image of the top entry in her diary on that day for you.

just coming back to the FPR sighting - Wardo avenue runs off FPR - and in her diary on that day was 142 Wardo - bike contract. I cannot see anything that has been investigated into that entry - or any explanation from Sturgis as to rule it out?

DCS carter and the lamplugh squad would have checked this out. they would have looked at every appointment she did since starting at sturgis.

Thank You K,

I'm well aware that I've seemingly popped up from nowhere. No one knows me or my father and I've told this story with no corroborating evidence to back it up. I honestly wish I did. The only way I could post to the forum was to sign up. It was something I felt was right to do even if only for my father and in the hope that someone on here (more able that I) might have investigative skills and/or resources. In my mind I hoped that someone, at some point in the future would be able to find out about any possible link to do with WScrubbs, the man and the neighbour (G) from downstairs. The police officer did tell my brother and me that although he did believe it was SL my father had seen that day, the information would not be of use now, so many years later, in finding SL and we accepted that.

At this time I still believe it was JC but mainly because, according to what my brother remembers, when JC was finishing out his time in WScrubbs was around the same time that G was doing 6 months in there. No, I dont have exact dates of their releases or whether they both were at the halfway house before they were freed. I have spoken to my brother more in the last 2 days than in the last year.

I will get hold of the books that have been recommended. It's possible that after reading them, I will change my mind about JC being my prime suspect.

If I do ever get hold of anything that can corroborate, I will be sure to share it.

P.s. sorry for my oversharing in my posts. I am known among my family and friends for this... trying to tell a story, going off on tangents mid way when it sparks another side story then trying to remember where I got to in the main story
Just out of curiosity... I'm trying to play catchup so please forgive the randomness/offtopic-ness...

I watched a channel 4 documentary last night titled "In the footsteps of killers" episode about SL. (trying to avoid full names so I dont get in trouble) where DW and EF look over the case and interview SL brother to ask what he would like and he says he'd like to know where she ended up. Towards the end of the programme the subject of the witness who passed a man on a path by the Union Canal in Brentford came up That lead is followed whereby two ladies are interviewed who were friends with this witness (previously passed away). What they had to say struck me as quite interesting, not only because I felt they were in a similar position to myself and my brother (giving 2nd had information from a deceased potential witness). It was not lost on me that they said their friend was haunted for the rest of his life because he reported his encounter at the time and twice after that and it all but fell on deaf ears (the same exact way I felt about my father) but more importantly than that was that they relayed that their friend had said the man looked like the photofit at the time and that when JC was going on trial their friend attended the trial and told them he was positive that JC was the the same man he passed that day who he believed had dumped something in the canal. I do vaguely remember reading about this witness but at the time I wasn't really invested (I've kinda been switched on and off over the years for my own sanity). There seemed to be a good reason for a search of the area in the canal. The tv programme suggests this was never done, not then and not since. Is that correct? Or am I completely missing something? Perhaps it's a question of cost and/or resources? With so many other more recent crimes to solve I guess

I'm trying not to put all my eggs in one basket over one of many, many docs and videos. Also I had to look past the way the show was trying to be really dramatic and sinister when actually the presenters came across as stiff as they tried to stick to the dramatic (really terrible acting at times). They didn’t need to do this, only present the story and facts.

According to IMDb, the series was from 2021. Does anyone have any thoughts or insights on this? My own analytical and processing skills used to be very good but are now very crap with trouble focusing (brain overstimulates and switches off - really annoying). Trying to get my head around the possibility that SL could have been in that canal, could still be there? Surely not? They had a forensics expert who explained that it's possible that bones could still be found (horrid thought I know) and possibly dna matched to family members.

Interested to hear what others think. In the meantime I'll be googling etc., to see if there's more info on this aspect.

Thanks for your patience.
