Was Bob Murray speaking when you were able to listen to the last part? What did you think of what he was saying if he was speaking while you were listening (am I getting complicated or what??) I missed the last part because hubby came home and his TV shows are on so I let him do his thing.

Oh come on now...don't you feel bad for Bob?? LOL

I told you earlier your just to nice!!!!! ;)

I watched the end of it.

Nothing was being done at the mine in China? When they showed a little bit of the coverage on CNN today they showed I don't know how many miners (hundreds) trying to pump the water out of that mine. What a horrible situation that is also.

I do believe there is an attempt to pump out the water but I think the families were feeling like not enough was being done. The initial coverage I heard first thing this morning on the radio was that nothing was going to be done and then later that they were attempting to pump out the water - so perhaps there was a change there somewhere. On CNN earlier tonight they were just reporting that several family members had rampaged the offices of the mine operators (or something to that effect).

Condolences to all of these families both in the US and China.

The last thing I recall Murray saying is that he does think the miners will be found but not alive.

I was feeling sorry for him as well RK but I'll probably be mad at him again tomorrow - such a roller coaster!

That is so sad. 175 men or so lost in that mining accident. :(

Thank you for the update. Last I had seen was them trying to pump the water out.

Yes, that is exactly what it seems like! A roller coaster ride. He did look/seem drained.

How many more dead miners is "closure" worth? IMO there are already 9 too many lives of good men sacrificed. IMO it's enough - too much lost already. It's sad for EVERYONE involved - but more dead men is NOT any kind of closure I'd want and it isn't worth ONE MORE LIFE.

What made those men who they were is no longer in those shells lying inside the mine. It will live on in their loved ones and friends and fellow miners. THEY would not want one more man to die on their behalf to retrieve an empty husk. Too much has already been lost, and too much pain has already been endured. Not one other family - not one more!

MY OPINION

I feel so bad for those families but the miners that are alive cant be risked to possibly retrieve their bodies and lose their lives in the process especially since its very likely they are not alive at this point.

He has aggravated me at times but I do think his heart is genuine. He has been right there for the families and at the mine and he is not a young man by any means, himself. This has to be emotionally and physically draining for him too.

The families all look to him to do something and imo he feels helpless when all things seem to fail.

Such a dilemma they are in. So dangerous that they cant let any rescuers go in and they are also unable to find the 6 fallen comrades. I think they are all dead and if they are I hope their deaths came quickly for them.

They will not be the only ones that stay where they died. Not everyone can be retrieved. Maybe their families will know their loved ones were coal miners through and through and the miners had most likely already told their loved ones that the mountain would take them one day and entomb them.

I pray for any resolution that the families can live with.

imo

I had problems with the voices worbling........
He tried to convince everyone that he is a very caring man & he tried to be as gentle as he could to the families & let them down gently. But he felt they never wanted to hear what he had to say.

He made a mistake saying 6 are dead........then he hurriedly corrected himself / saying 3 are dead & 6 injured all but 1 released from the hospital.

Then I thought well maybe they seen bodied in the 4th bore hole when a camera was put down there. I don't trust him!!!! Nope don't feel at all bad for him either.

Well said. I couldn't agree more. You cannot justify risking more lives to just recover the remains, as difficult as that is. Many people have to face the reality of a loved one gone without ever recovering the remains. It is tragic but true.

When the planes struck the Twin Towers on 911 we seen LE, firemen & perimedics, all 911 personnel available from many many different companies come to help. They didn't stop at the doors & say hey we can't go up there!!!! Enough lifes have been lost!!! They all went in & many many lost there lives. How many firemen, policemen, paramedics were trapped? Did you see any others stop & say wow we can't try untrapping them /we'd sure like to but to many lost there lives.

How would we of felt if we heard someone stopped at the door & refused to help. No they went in time after time doing there jobs........there is no difference! These miners are / were human beings.

I wonder if the families of the miners are each going to get given how many million was it each family got in the Twin Towers?

cheko1,
You made a very valid point.

Oh my gosh cheko1! We must be twins (ETA: Only I feel sorry for Bob at times, lol). I was just typing up a post about what happened on 9/11 and all the heroes there were but decided not to post it. Those are my thoughts exactly.

I think if I was a family member I could come to accept the mine entombment - IF I knew for sure they had not survived. What I would not be able to accept is not knowing for absolute sure. That there was even a minute possibility (and there is) that even one of them was still alive somewhere in that mine and slowly starved to death would haunt me forever.

I too think realistically they are gone, but please let them know for sure.

Cheko- I understand what your saying I do and its a valid point but from what I remember about 9/11 (may be wrong on this) the deaths that happened except health problems contributed to the clean up came not long after the planes hit.

I do think its different since many people were still alive, it was a building so it might have been and thought to be structurally okay which obviously wasnt and this is a mountain that is crumbling right in front of them and its very likely they are not alive. Even WTC was sealed up before all remains were found. We do have a friend of the family that was a firefighter down there that day, thankfully he is still alive but he lost many friends.

Granted if it was my family member I cannot imagine not looking for them so I understand what your saying. This decision to be made is a horrible one. Either way families are going to disagree, if you agree to keep digging you will probably have families not wanting to risk their family members and if you dont look for them you will have others that will disagree with it. I hope the searchers are on a volunteer basis and only the ones who want to continue and risk their lives.

I hope they died instantly instead of suffering this long, I cant imagine it.

No sympathy here for that man!!!
I just heard on GMA last hole being
drilled & all operations will cease. Unless
miners are alive.

I would also have a very difficult time with the entombment.
I wondered immediately why they were not drilling a bigger
hole to send a cage down? Instead they put many men in danger.

The families could / would of accepted entombment if Murray
hadn't promised to bring them out alive or dead. Now the families
are looking like the bad guys, they are not.

I also feel they are gone / hopefully they were killed instantly &
never suffered.

I anxiously await to see what Murray offers to the families.
All 6 were the bread winners of the family.

That's what you call resting in peace??

Yes, I'm also sure that holocaust victims who were murdered, cremated or buried in mass pits are resting in peace.

IMO, the disposition of one's earthly remains does not determine whether or not one is at rest.

Just think of all the missing and murdered people among us whose bodies have never been found.

What a horrific idea to think that not only did their killers take their lives but also their eternal rest.

Its not same without the remains & having closure.

Ask Sharon Rocha about "closure." She says there isn't any and she has remains.
