I actually think it was the other way around. It's not that she had to be black to be a plausible parental figure to Izaiah but being a parental figure to Izaiah added to her own plausibility as a black person... Any white woman can have a black child as she already knew very well, having one... But if you tell people you gained custody of your brother and your brother is black, people will assume that your parents are black and so you are too.

The timeline I posted upthread about 2010 events convinced me that's exactly why she took him away from her parents when she did.

Anyway, FYI,,the entire DC Court Appeals doc relating to Rachel suing Howard Univ. can be found on smokinggun.com

If there is any "social justice" from the Rachel Dolezal "story", my hope is that she never again has any kind of job or platform to speak for anyone. No teaching positions, no media columns to write, no activist organizations to work for or with, etc.

She has a MFA from Howard-- let her go work on her artwork to sell. Or get a regular job in retail, or start with an entry level position somewhere. Actually work for a living and contribute to society, and STFU about everything else.

I'm fine with her trying to get a real job and support herself without a public assistance handout, but I really, really hope no one EVER gives her any kind of position again to act as an mouthpiece or activist for anything. And no reality shows! She's a fraud and a con artist, IMO, and highly manipulative. And her recent comments are really vile and hurtful and nasty, IMO. The more that continues to come out about her, the more people detest everything she is and has lied about. Her legacy now is how much the public is disgusted at her fraud and lies-- and that will live on forever on the internet. She's going to have to change her name and identity to escape THAT.

She needs to disappear into obscurity, and try to live her life without breaking any laws or defrauding or conning anyone else. I could care less if she spray tans and wears a weave anymore, or fades back to her natural color and her natural hair-- everyone knows what a liar and a fraud she is. As long as she shuts up permanently about social justice and racial issues. IMO, she has lost her right to have anything valid to say about those issues. IMO, she's not oppressed, suppressed, or repressed-- she's just a liar and a fraud. And probably belongs in the criminal justice system as a defendant for the fake hate crimes she's claimed.

I can't stand the sight of her. I hope on some level she is able to feel the deep shame, embarrassment, and regret that she deserves to "fully embrace and own as an authentic experience". But she sure seems to be relishing the spotlight, and seeing how far she can push her 15 minutes. She and her spray tan and her "oppression cosplay" need to just fade away.

I hope Franklyn goes to live with his physical therapist dad asap. I think RD's bridges are forever burned in Spokane, and she'll be living a nomadic life for the foreseeable future. But, hopefully, without her young son along for the bumpy ride as a prop to validate her faux blackness.

Sorry....link to court appeals record: thesmokinggun.com

Summary:

Lie: claimed Howard denied her a teaching assistant position for a semester because of race, etc.

Truth: she turned in paperwork too late to be placed that semester but was PAID her full stipend ANYWAY.

Lie: She was denied employment after graduation because of race etc etc

Truth: She never applied for a position. She dropped off her resume to the art department with a letter saying she understood there were no positions available in her areas of expertise.

An actual applicant with expertise RD never claimed to have later applied for a position and was hired. That's the"discrimination."

( very similiar bullying for a position she did with the HREI director position in Idaho).

Lie: RD claims her artwork was taken down and replaced by that of a black artist only because RD is white.

Truth: The CoA snickered, basically, and no doubt took that silly charge in consideration when they slapped RD with Howard's court costs for filing frivolous suit.

Allegations against brother include an allegation about something that happened in 1991 (I presume it was made by Rachel, as her sister wasn't born yet). Per TMZ, the allegation was made by Rachel.
http://www.tmz.com/2015/06/17/rache...xual-assault-case-national-geographic-photos/.
Racially motivated assault was alleged, because brother was supposedly curious about black women sexually.

Rachel certainly wasn't black back in 1991. But in 2013 (when the allegations were made) she would have been pretending to be black.

The claim included "It continued: “Joshua Dolezal was turned on by the black body and was curious about black women sexually.”

Wow. Incredible. So he's going to win that case I think!

Oh and from your second link:

It doesn't get much whiter than that family.

And what kind of example has she is setting for the children she is raising (her brother) and her own son?

Even her son ( I don't know if they call her brother or her actual son "Dolezal's son") was involved in making a complaint, claimed somebody yelled at him in the store, using racial slur, making him so scared he had to run home, knocking over wine bottles.
Turned out nothing like this happened, he (or his friend) was playing with a ball and knocked over some bottles (as shown on security video).

If you remove the beard and add a long blonde wig, Rachel looks just like him (minus the tan and weave).

There's a video of Kitara Johnson (she started the petition) too and she's not mixing her words.

Lastly, NBC spoke to Dolezal’s son Frank. “No matter what she does, I’m gonna be proud of her,” he said. “She deserved to be world-widely known, but not like this.”

You can watch the full interview, some of which did not air on television, here.

Inside The Alleged Abuse Scandal That Destroyed The Dolezal Family
Rachel Dolezal’s brother is charged with sexually abusing their adopted sister — a claim their parents vigorously denied to BuzzFeed News. Warning: This post contains graphic details of alleged sexual abuse.
In a separate incident that allegedly took place in 1991, an alleged victim told Billinger in an emailed statement that when Joshua Dolezal was age 16 or 17 he allegedly pinned her to the ground and tried to pull off her clothes. According to the statement, Joshua showed the alleged victim “[a] collection of photos of topless and naked African women” from a National Geographic magazine and said “he would masturbate and would ‘get off’ to these pictures” and “was turned on by the black body and was curious about black women generally.” Joshua allegedly apologized to the victim for the incident when he “came home for summer break in 1996 … and said that he probably messed [redacted] up from that and that he couldn’t take it back but that he was sorry.”

In fact, Mr. Finnie said, "there was an unspoken assumption that she was biracial." He said Ms. Dolezal had told him that her mother was white, but she introduced him and other faculty members to an African-American man whom she identified as her father.

Ms. Dolezal started teaching at Eastern Washington in 2010; her courses touched on topics including African and African-American art history and "the black woman’s struggle." She had only intermittent interactions with the rest of the department’s faculty, Mr. Finnie said: "As a part-timer, we didn’t see her every day, all the time."

But her civic role was prominent enough to make her the scheduled keynote speaker at the Africana-education program’s graduation ceremony. Questions about Ms. Dolezal’s race hit the news on the day of the ceremony. "She called me that morning and said, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t go, because it’ll be a distraction,’" Mr. Finnie said. "I said, ‘I think you’re right.’"

1) According to the 2010 Census, Spokane is 86.7% White and 2% Black. That basically means that Spokane is getting solid B, maybe even a B+ in whiteness. (Hell, maybe even an A- if we are grading on curve.) And 2% is so low it’s probably within the margin of error. Statistically Spokane has no black people. Which makes it a great place to pretend to be black. You’re not going to get a lot of pushback. And I think by virtue of the fact she was president of the NAACP, and according to everything I read they thought she was black, we can say that she got little to no pushback.

The other thing is when the black population is that low, they need all the help they can get. So if Gwyneth Paltrow shows up at the NAACP in Spokane claiming to be a sista, the Blacks of Spokane (which is the name of the reality show I’m pitching about this) just go, “Sure. Fine. You’re Black! Whatever. Just sit down and get to work. These hashtags won’t come up with themselves.”

JMO I think many journalists are doing a disservice dragging Caitlyn Jenner and trans-anything into the conversation because this is not about transracial, it's about lying. It's about inventing a whole fictional past where her ancestors were oppressed African American slaves and where she presents her weave as an example of authentic AA hair, and some guy she met volunteering a few years ago is her father and how she's been struggling with racism all her life because she's black, how she began to identify as black as a child, no, five years ago when she adopted her brother, no, she already did ten years ago when her husband forced her to pose as a white person, no in 2007 she was biracial...

If she was transracial she wouldn't have had to lie about anything, she could have said, "my parents are white but I identify with the AA community", and maybe that wouldn't have made her the chair or the president of anything but at least she'd still have her integrity.

And why did she say that she was born in a teepee if she doesn't even believe that the Dolezals who used to live in a teepee had anything to do with her parentage? how does she know where she was born if she doesn't know who her parents are?

JMO she will suffer no lasting consequences because of this. The people of Spokane may be fed up with her but she'll go somewhere else and spin tales of how she's discriminated against because she's transracial and it's like she's getting the best of both worlds because now she can be a victim of both racism against the black and against the white and against everything in between. No one will dare to say anything against her because all criticism directed at her will be used as evidence of closed-mindedness and the need to evolve the racial discussion into higher levels of nonsense.

I agree that RD's lying is odious. It is separate from the issue of assimilating or adopting mannerisms or appearances of another "race".

But although I was told several times that it is impossible for a person to identify with another "race" (in quotes because there is no biological basis for "race"within humans), I still maintain that a person may become so drawn to, and identify with a culture into which they were not born, that they eventually emulate all aspects of that other culture.

Holy Run-On Sentence, Batman!

I would also like to say to those who call "BS" on "transracialism" (not loving that term) yet support transgender issues:
Only a few years ago, most people felt the same way about transgendered people that you do about people who are/might be "transracial".

We may not understand it, or be able to explain it, but as people, we shouldn't say it isn't real because we just say so.

That said, RD may feel "black", but she should not have lied and said she is black.

But what IF she took one of those genome tests thingies and she had a percentage, however small, of sub-saharan african DNA. What would people say then? Because she has "black" blood, a multi-ethnic upbringing, and strong ties to the AA community. Would she still be a fraud anymore than anyone who alters their hair or makeup or tans?

Think about it.

JMO.

I have been googling that for hours, in vain. Thank you. If you're ever in Germany, I owe you several beers.
No problem -- my pleasure; good to know that all those years teaching Research Methods finally paid off (lol, for me anyway! still unsure if my students ever really understood the fun of it).

That's great that she wants racial equity and all but c'mon - Spokane is whiter than white. You'd think she would have taken her crusade to Baltimore or places where, well black folks actually live.

But to pass yourself off as black when you are in fact very white and try and fool people with a tan and weave is just despicable. There are many black folks who act white and vice versa but to go so far as to claim to be something you are not is just sad.

And then to get caught and start side stepping questions and pretending like you're not a liar is pretty silly.

Does anyone know the name of that surrealist? painter who painted the desert nomad with a lion? I can see the painting in my head but can't recall the name. A couple of Rachel's reminded me of his work.

Rousseau: The Sleeping Gypsy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henri_Rousseau

I'm guessing most of RD's art work is borrowed or derivative, since the Turner certainly is.

I'm not saying people wouldn't have called her a poseur, but there is merit in saying "Hey, this is how I want to look because I feel this is the true "me".

Yes, people might make fun. But at least she would be true to who she feels she is. (If indeed she feels it).

I do believe there are people who are genuinely what RD wants to call "transracial". I believe it is more of a need to identify with a specific culture and appearance but I respect that need just like any other. Especially when I have only the experiences of others to relate to. I cannot say what they feel is not real. I just want to respect everyone's choices/needs.

It kind of makes me angrier about RD, because now, because of her, it is all one big joke. I know people make Caitlyn jokes too, but I think they are unfunny, too.

I'm thinking about it. There is identity and then there is deception. RD is a liar. She never identified internally as black. Not like transgendered persons. We know that because she sued Howard U for racial discrimination based on being WHITE. Not on being black or transracial. And people who identity with a gender or "race", culture, whatever, can simply claim it and adopt it. They don't need to lie about who their parents are or how they've been oppressed, or their history, or abuse they've suffered, etc.

But this woman has done all of that and much more. She's a liar who has intentionally hurt people through her lies and desire to be seen as a victim. I'm not sure why people keep tryin to compare this to being transgendered. Totally different. In fact, it would be different if she WAS actually "transracial" (a phenomena some have felt necessary to create). But she's not. She's just a liar. A likely very personality disordered liar who makes things up to feel important or get attention.

That's it.

She has got more issues than TV Guide!
She is a fraud and did a disservice to the women she attempted to be.

  • #839
I'm encouraging my children to be open and come out with their secret transracial identity. Especially when applying for colleges and scholarships. And we've never had DNA tests done, so who knows whose kids they really are.
