Well, again I'll play devil's advocate . What if Jenise was not really as free to roam about alone as we've been led to believe? What if she was assigned to the care of one of her siblings, who continually dropped the ball? I know of many kids who hear this '' ok you can go but take your little sister'' . They roll their eyes and do so and then may get involved with others their own age and tell that little sister to take a hike or go find one of their friends to play with . Just speculating out loud . Yes , I know she was alone a lot and wandering but that may not have been the parents' intent.

ETA I was thinking of this when a previous poster way back asked ' what would a 6 yr old have in common with the teenagers''. And I thought maybe it was not Jenise' first choice of who to hang out with OR the teens' first choice , but a parent of one of the other said ' keep an eye on her' and so they did. mooo

Normally a "Favorite item of APPAREL" and may have gotten rid of it?

I'm just listening to the presser for the first time (it is edited though) and noticed him referring to the muddy clothing again and referring to getting rid of a favorite item of apparel. Interesting word choice even though apparel still means clothing in general. I'm thinking sports gear, hat, sports shoes, jacket, etc. Getting tips in about this part already since finding Jenise.

apparel-
1. clothing, especially outerwear; garments; attire; raiment.

2. anything that decorates or covers.

3. superficial appearance; aspect; guise.

Good point. He didn't say "clothing" It does sound like a hat or something. I wouldn't think a jacket due to the heat...

^^ Or could it be a jacket precisely because of the phrasing? Why else would you wear (for example) a hoodie in the hot weather if it wasn't your prized possession? Many kids have hats, hoodies, sweat jackets etc that they wear all the time - despite the heat.

Take such an item off and what do you have? Mud on your shirt (mentioned) and scratches on your arms (mentioned). It fits -

Boots implies they have foot prints and the footprints are of boots.

Male.

There is all different types of boots, both for male and female. My wife has some "high fashion" boots, they are bright red and the outsole looks like the tread you would see on a jeep or an off road vehicle. I don't think you could slip while wearing those things even if you were walking on packed ice with a fresh layer of mist on it. I wish I had tire tread that knobby on my pickup !

She also has a pair of cowboy boots with a rubber traction tread on them, same as a mans work boot would have. I make her wear them when we are out cutting firewood or hanging out in rattlesnake country. She has a pair of rain boots, same thing. Snow boots, same thing. Traction tread.

Anyway, I think a lot more telling would be the size of the boots. The widths, the size and the tread design. I'm sure the FBI has an entire database dedicated just for that purpose, identifying the manufacturer and where they were sold.

The question is, who was wearing them ? Did someone leave them sitting on the back porch last Sunday morning caked with mud ?
Was someone seen washing them down with a water hose on Monday ? Have a favorite pair of hiking boots gone missing from inside the home ? Those are the questions the people inside that park are going to have to answer, none of us can.

It sorta goes back to it can and will be used aginst you.
O/T Didn't they have to stop doing the 23and me DNA stuff ? Due to concerns about future insurability? It sounded like a conspiracy deal to me. moo
I have nothing to hide and I am sure they could figure out a way to get my DNA.
I wouldn't be happy about it floating around, but I gues with CODIS it's not floating around per se ,If they have to get a warrant does the warrant stipulate if your DNA is not invilved it must be destroyed?
I need to get educated on these type of things.
I do know a friend that did 23 and me. She was adopted, found 3 1/2 siblings! Her brother was 7 mos younger than her! Her biodad was a busy guy I guess. At 44 she met them all. She just did it to see what her risk of disease was...

Morning.

I have done 23 and me, GeneBase, and some swedish firm, so I did not care. But, I do think NSA might be building data base. If I were them, I would. I heard somewhere a NSA helicopter came and did a sweep too.

my ears perked up when LE suggested that possibly a ''favorite'' may suddenly be missing .... ((made me think of a fashion conscious age set KWIM))

In the presser, Lt Smith says shoes or boots. I wonder if the perp slipped down the ravine and got super muddy on the butt and back of his/her legs. I truly believe this happened at night, no one brought her down there during the day in my opinion. Someone has to know the area well and hang out there and be able to navigate in the dark or with little light source. Maybe using a cell phone as a light source? JMO

Yep, like a sports team logo or super expensive shoes. Usually these are white. I know my teen students buy white paint to cover up stuffs and graying that happens along the sole area of their shoes.

whooo!!! You could be right. I did see some barefoot in shorts and a sweatshirt pictured at the MHP.
I was like huh?

I was a Wal-Mart last night and saw SEVERAL girls in shorts and boots... Kne was wearing plastic rainboots... again huh?
I got told by Miss Karma. As I was leaving it was POURING DOWN RAIN!!!
I couldn't even run to the truck because the water in the parking lot was about 2 inches deep and was sucking my flip flops off!!!
lesson learned....

My personal opinion is that they've found an article of clothing in the trash after the fact. Why else would you toss out an item, rather than wash it? To rid yourself of incriminating evidence.

Not a big stretch of imagination to think so -

Or a sports team apparel wear.

I read the comments on FB too. I noted that the church has offered free services etc. There was a comment about setting up the ******** to be sent to the Bishop of the church. Another one for the family as there were lost wages involved (unclear if it was Father or Mother or both).

My eyes are rolling back in my head....yet I can say nothing. I know so much and can't say. I highly doubt bishop knows the family very well.

Is there a presser today? If so can someone give me a link, please? Thanks!

well it is back to school time and there will be lots of clothes shopping trips for families this weekend so this will be tricky time to determine who is covering up a crime and who is innocently replacing wardrobe

my impression of the favorite item comment was just that they are asking people to think if maybe someone they know just recently stopped wearing something that they always used to wear.

not that LE has some specific item in mind, not that they are in possession of some item, just since the scene was muddy (or...) maybe it will jar someones memory "oh hey, so and so used to wear those pants/hat etc almost every day, he hasnt worn them in a week now"

Boots? Hmm that's interesting. I wonder if they only have ONE set of prints, or if there are multiple? If they have a clear boot print, IMHO, best to say there is a (whatever type, workboot, hiking boot, cowboy boot) in approx size (whatever) that we are looking for. Anyone living with a person would notice a missing pair of boots - but with tennis shoes or flops, not so much.

The chances that this perp is female is about zero percent, IMHO, Sandra Cantu's case notwithstanding.

Need to remember it's Washington State and the type of weather up there. Boots are pretty common for both male and female, not that they're worn year round........

Can you PM me so you don't have to post it? I'm really interested in knowing...

I don't think that you're allowed to talk behind everyone's back, so to speak. Maybe you could contact her by pm instead of posting your request here.

Guys, please remember that we can't discuss PM's on the thread. We don't want time outs or thread locks.

I hope you're feeling better ShadyLady. Hopefully news of an arrest will come soon so that the community has the opportunity to begin to heal and find a new normal.
