What the Prosecution Thinks About Media Reporting in this case

  • #141
Yes, but there can be a world of difference between a death caused by someone's negligence and an intentional murder.

Imagine if you had the care of a young toddler and perhaps was trying to get some chores done around the house. Your toddler wanders into your bedroom and discovers a packet or bottle on your bedside table with some nice bright 'candy' inside. She manages to get the 'candy' out and eats several before you start wondering why she's so quiet. You look around the house and find her unconscious on the floor. She dies in hospital later. You have been negligent in leaving those pills within her reach, and are obviously to blame for her death. This is still homicide but are you really a murderer and do you deserve to be locked up for life or even sentenced to death?

The toddler died at the hospital so the caregiver DID try to save her life. Caregiver DID NOT put her in a bag & take her to the nearest DUMP!
BIG BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!

Hey guys, this thread is about what the Prosecution thinks about the media reporting.

So how do you feel about LE using the media for their leaks yet stating that the media reporting is misleading, speculative, irresponsible and down right WRONG in what it reports?

So if something is broken in this country we should just close our ears/eyes to it?

It's not broken if you have a choice. I suppose you'd like to regulate the media and decide what the press can and can't say, at least about this case. So much for a "free" (yet commercial) press.

Complain all you like, but in a commercial environment about the best you can do is complain to advertisers or boycott.

That IS my point, TS. I work on many missing person cases here on WS and am well aware of the numbers. This is why I am glad to see more awareness being brought to the enormity of our missing people in America: the children, the vanished wives, and the men who have simply disappeared into thin air. Their numbers are staggering!

The media attention of Caylee's case has hopefully made people who were before uninterested or simply unaware this is a huge problem in our country realize something needs to be done. What we are doing is not working. As a society, we need to change the laws, change our attitudes, and change the way we deal with these issues.

SS,

I believe it is true that the general public is not interested in missing people because I don't think they know how many there are. At this moment I don't know how many there are missing. But it is like you have pointed out - they are all kinds of people "just missing", "just gone" and so many children.

The media could focus more on this as well as our elected officials. It would seem anyway.

What leaks?? What has been reported has come to past through the doc dumps, LE said in August Caylee was deceased, well guess what?? Her remains were found, We heard about decomp, hair with death band, etc, It all came out in the docs

Why do 99% of people familiar with the facts of this case believe Casey is guilty?

Here is a list of FACTS from the case:

According to the Anthonys including Casey, Caylee was missing for 31 days before it was reported.

According to photos and friends of Casey's, Casey partied during the time she did not know where Caylee was.

Casey got a tattoo while her daughter was missing. Verified by tattoo artist.

Casey claimed to have worked at Universal studios for over two years. Her family believed this and Casey led the police to the offices at Universal Studios and did not admit she had not worked there in over two years until she was in a corridor there. This has been proven by audio interviews and police reports.

Casey stole her friend Amy's checkbook and therefore her money. Proven by surveillence videos from Target.

George admitted he was suspicious of Casey's role in Caylee's disappearance in interviews conducted and videotaped.

Casey claimed that Caylee's longtime nanny was ZFG (as proven in recordings) who lived at Sawgrass apartments for several months.

ZFG never lived at Sawgrass apartments and in fact, the apt Casey claimed she dropped Caylee at for the last several months had been vacant during that period of time. Proven by lease records.

Casey claimed that ZFG's mother lived at a certain address. When the police investigated, it was determined that was not true.

A real person named ZFG did visit Sawgrass apartments to look at leasing an apt there as proven by the visitors card and her own testimony. Casey did have a friend who worked at Sawgrass at that time. When Casey described the imaginary ZFG's car, it matched that of the real ZFG as proven by discovery in the civil case.

When volunteer organization mobilized to search for Caylee and drew thousands of volunteers, Casey's mother Cindy refused to provide a piece of clothing so dogs could track Caylee's scent. Per testimony of Tim Miller.

When samples of Caylee's hair was requested by LE, Cindy admittedly and purposely provided a hairbrush that Caylee did not use rather than one that she did use.

Casey's vehicle was found abandoned at Amscot and towed by a wrecker service to an impound yard. Since it was in her parent's names, they were called to pay fines and retrieve the car. Fact supported by records and testimony.

Upon retrieval of the car, the As noticed a smell of death in the vehicle. This was reported to the OCSO in a 911 car- it smells like there was a body in the damn car per Cindy Anthony on 911 call.

Later Cindy changed her story to claim that the smell of death was actually rotting pizza as evidenced by her comments on several media outlets.

Forensics in the car revealed evidence of decomposition of a human body, including a hair from a dead person that according to Mitochondrial DNA was either Cindy, Casey or Caylee Anthony. Cindy and Casey are still alive. Caylee is not. Who did that hair shed after death belong to? I'm no forensic expert but I can only deduce that it belonged to Caylee.

Since a hair shed by dead missing child was found in Casey's trunk, along with decomp fluids, I will once again use my reasons of deduction to conclude that Caylee's body was once in the trunk of this car, as would any reasonably intelligent person. Let me add that this car was never reported stolen by Casey.

Caylee's body was found less than a mile from her grandparent's home. According to discovery released, there was plant growth through her skeleton which showed that her body had been there for several months.

Caylee's skull had duct tape wrapped around it and according to discovery documents, that tape was tangled in her hair and had to be cut in order to be removed.

Dr. G, medical examiner for Orange County ruled Caylee's death a homicide, which is an unnatural death according to her press conference and public records.

This list does not begin to cover all of the facts in this case. But they are compelling and adequate enough to convince me that Casey was involved in the death of her daughter. And I don't imagine any jury would feel differently, given these facts.

ITA, and none of what you have said is media spin, also It was Cindy who called police to report Caylee missing, Casey had no intentions of EVER calling, In fact, she wanted one more day!!!

I think there are a few reasons why the GP is not "interested" .
There are so many it's overwhelming.Where do you start? How do you help?
What are the odds that you will see a missing child, recognize them and help in a recovery? I look at the pictures of missing children in Wal Mart and it's overwhelming. Many are runaways or relative abduction. Horrific, but not as terrifying as a child who just disappears.Maybe it should be.
There would need to be a channel just for the missing running 24/7 to keep up.Not a bad idea IMO
O/T but this leads to why I question the A's motives. Most families would pay to have the kind of publicity and help the A's had looking for Caylee.Instead they allegedly were paid for photos, blasted the public [get off their a$$e$ and look for her!],slapped down TES, and mislead with false sitings.

Bolded by me

Many of the 'facts' you have quoted are actually irrelevant to the murder charge against KC, such as the fact that she lied about having a job, stole from people, Cindy's and George's actions and feelings etc. etc., but there is certainly evidence that 'KC was involved in the death of her daughter'. But the point is, she is charged with premeditated murder. Which of the above 'facts', or indeed which of any of the facts that we know of, proves she is guilty of that?

ETA
I think a good many of the '99%' of people you believe think KC is 'guilty' (you didn't specify what of by the way) are most likely assuming that because her 'nanny' story is blatantly a lie, this means she must have murdered Caylee, but that doesn't automatically follow. I have read so many posts that say things like 'well, there wasn't a nanny was there, so it's obvious that it was KC who murdered her', but this logic is based on the assumption that she was actually 'murdered', a fact that has not yet been proved.

To start with...driving around with your dead daughter decomposing in your trunk while you make up stories to family and friends about the good time the baby is having with an imaginary babysitter and describing the daughter's remains as a dead animal plastered to your car frame isn't very sensitive.

Nor is duct taping your daughter's mouth shut.

Caylee died the day Casey made *plans* to move in with her boyfriend.

NONE of Caylee's things were packed. But Casey got ALL of her clothes and hygienic supplies ready to go. Plus she got Caylee's mouth duct taped shut, put the heart on it, put Caylee in the laundry bag, hid Caylee in her car trunk or parent's backyard, managed to make phone calls AND was headed for Tony's by a little after 4. She managed to get all this done during one of the FEW periods of the day when she wasn't happily on the phone or computer and conveniently just before Cindy was due to arrive home.

If Caylee hadn't died, what would Casey HAVE done with that Monday night? Missed her date?

According to Tony and his roommates Casey was her happy, bubbly self that Monday afternoon when she moved in. Which is verified by the video showing Casey happily smooching just a SHORT time after she had watched her daughter take her last breath.

The phone and computer records show WHERE Casey was June 16. The pings show she went directly from her parents straight to Tony's. The evidence found with Caylee shows Caylee was probably killed in the house. The night before, Casey asked Tony IF SHE could move in with him. Tony had told her SHE could but not Caylee. George says he saw Caylee at one. Despite having time to make phone calls and go online and pack and do the duct taping and putting Caylee in a laundry bag and hiding Caylee, by 4:30 p.m. Casey is happily moving HERSELF in with Tony.

Those facts do point to Casey having motive and the ONLY opportunity. Her behavior and texts to Cindy and friends afterwards shows Casey was more than aware of Caylee's presense in her car trunk the whole time she was making up stories about Caylee at the beach and at parks.

The search warrants, affidavits and video ALONE without ANY sensationalism are damaging and ugly.

You know she had a planned date with AL for that night how?

You know when and why the duct was applied how?

Tony said Casey asked him on June 15 if she could stay over. Tony told Casey SHE could, but NOT Caylee. This was in one of the last document dumps.

Casey was packed and out the door with her stuff by 4 p.m. June 16. She was filmed smooching happily the same night.

Duct tape put on a child that can lick, bite and will struggle to breathe will not look like duct tape put over insect eggs on a day old corpse. The eyes weren't taped up although they also would have been full of insect eggs.

When the official LE statement is, "NO child should have to die that way", it doesn't sound like the duct tape was put there for tidiness reasons.

As I said in an earlier post, based JUST upon the affidavits, phone pings and known forensics the number of people with motive and opportunity to commit the "homicide" is down to one. (IMO)

Neither Casey or her lawyers have said WHERE Caylee was after June 16 (except for the imaginary nanny). So far the only information the media has comes from warrants, forensics and the videos...
