Watching this video carefully of the sidebar that occured just after the above noted marker and it appears to me that it is only about the SA using one of their P-strikes against this morning's PJ.

LB is the one doing all the talking, she has her reading glasses on and all parties are focused on and listening to her not the judge. Then JB goes back and gets some papers off his table and is face to face with LB discussing intensely, neither appears to turn to the HHJP at all until the end. Then HHJP goes back to the bench and announced the SA's p-strike.

Could the striking of this juror make the DT team want to appeal on some grounds?

Not sure either why this was done as a sidebar versus open court.

Perhaps it had everything to do with the pj speaking privately to the attys and judge, so the strike could not addressed in open court either.

If Jose ("My client is innocent") Baez says it a personal matter, than that's what it must be. It's not like he'd tell a 'fib' or anything, right?

lol!

What ever this turns out to be, you can bet Nancy Grace will be all over it tonight.

RE: the video

While Casey is talking to Ms Frye, she says something to Casey and then Casey clearly says "I think that's the problem."

Then Mason comes over and says something to Casey and it appears Casey says "(Are you gonna) do it?" He says something quickly and she says "Good" and then "Do it" and then "I want it done."

I'm guessing at the "are you gonna" part but the Do it part is definite and it seems like a question to which he replies something and she says "good".

baez says it is not a plea deal but a personal matter according to beth from court tv

``````````````````````````````````
See....I told you they can't stay off the news. Why would he care if we speculate as to why he disappeared from court and court had to be postponed until tomorrow. He doesn't...he loves the drama he creates. He has probably been following everything online since court was dismissed today waiting for the anticipation to build before he texted the media. What a drama queen! What a media wh*re!
Have been out most of the day but did catch a blurb opining that the DT may have been filing an interlocutory appeal based on the order by Judge Perry regarding jury selection.
Will go back through the thread but in case it hasn't been discussed......food for thought.
Perhaps JB left to drive over to the 5 th District Court of Appeals??
Additionally, is it possible KC is considering a bench trial? And seating a penalty phase jury only?
I believe the sidebar was about striking the juror and that the request to extend the lunch was kind of an off the cuff request (see wftv vid). Whatever happened - happened during lunch.
According to the texts, he didn't say personal, he said private.
I will say this though. If it is a plea deal you can color me shocked. ICA just doesn't come across as someone who will EVER plea out. She's still so very defiant in court. Almost like she thinks how DARE the state of FL hold me accountable.
But if she ever does plea out it won't be until the very very very last second. ICA still has a lot of time left to plead out.
It's either a appeal or some stall tactic by JB.
Think Michael Jackson and his "spider bite" and wear his jammies to court during his molestation trial...
Omg LOLOL yes I'd forgotten about that one! :floorlaugh: But it's the simple truth here! I am laughing my fanny off at all the silly media talking heads with there explosively wild scenarios for this! LOL. But hey what do we "idiot bloggers" know?! Hmmm me thinks that JB knows we are on to him, and know his client ICA far better than he does.
so.. basically.. this probably means a complete new jury selection somewhere else? thats what Im thinking..
Trust me when I tell you come heck or high water they will be a working late, late into tomorrow night to wrap this jury selection up. HHJBP is going to pursue and make every possible effort to get her done by the end of day on Sat. He knows what the odds are and he's one tough judge. If any one can do it it will be him. I am leaning on it finishing last minute to favor HHJBP and to the DT's utter dismay. :twocents:
My :twocents::twocents: is that JB is being allowed to use a personal problem,(illness, emergency) to gracefully bow out after being fired. The speech this morning was a farewell speech. :seeya::seeya::seeya:
Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part.:great:
If JB bowed out (or was fired) this would likely delay the trial. Would CM, AF, or DS step up to the plate as KC's lead attorney? Or would KC ask for a court appointed attorney to take JB's place? If the latter, it would take a new attorney months to get up-to-speed.
So who do you think will be next on the Defense Team to develop an illness/injury??? Maybe that should be a new poll!
WOW ! I just watched this and YES ... that is what ICA said to CM or JB .
What "arrogance" ... giving "marching orders" to the attorneys ...
:bigstick:
IMO, it's AF she's speaking to, not JB or CM.
edited to add: I've viewed the video again and I now think it IS JB she is talking to. She talks to him about as respectful as she did her family.
So, Baez pulled a rabbit out of his hat...This circus is full of tricks.
My vote is if she did not get rid of Baez then it is AF she wants off her case... just a weird feeling I got watching the interactions today.
I'm not seeing the link to people's initials....What is ICA. I thought the defendant's name was Casey Anthony? What's the 'I'?
.. and someone brought this out. Don't know if anyone has posted it already, but there was a link to a wftv.com video http://www.wftv.com/video/27938803/index.html that someone said was right before the lunch recess. About the 11:25 mark you can see JB come to ICA and she mouths to him "do it" and then "I want it done." I watched a couple times and that seems to be the case. What do you think?
A large amount of time was taken up between LDB and JB talking at that sidebar. I think they are.... kicking around a plea deal.
I agree that it could very well be both. JB had some sort of urgent private matter to take care of, and HHMP could just be expressing frustration with the process of jury selection dealt another blow.
HHMP announced that the trial would begin on Monday, May 23rd. I would imagine he's done some calculations. He stated there were 15 more potential jurors and that so far it's taken about an hour to go through voir dire with each PT, and that equals about 15 hours. I think HHMP was looking to get through 4 or 5 more PTs this afternoon, and possibly finishing up the last 10 tomorrow. He was hoping to get a jury of 12 sworn today, and spend the next few days getting alternates. JB's private matter just put all of HHMP's calculations at risk.
I think it is very possible that JB is delaying in order to submit some sort of motion and he may have had a personal issue that allowed him to use it as an excuse for more time.
HHJP is frustrated at the delays as are we all.
JB's not been fired. He'll be back in the saddle again, IMO. I think the whole "spat" thing has been blown out of proportion. casey gets angry at those she is close to. She's close to JB. They have been working together for almost three years. Her tantrums will be unlikely to lead to an irrevocable rift at this stage of the game. That's for later, when she is found guilty and JB drops her like a hot potato.
This has nothing to do with her parents. No medical issue or emergency on their part would delay this process right now and copyright issues have nothing to do with this trial.
No way would she consider a bench trial. She would be found guilty 10 minutes after closing arguments.
My guess, Cheney Mason, then Ann Finnell- she's DP qualified, right? I can't see them appointing a Public Defender when she still has these guys on her team...
