Is it possible for Beaz to just leave? I would think that it is 2 far into the case for a attorney to leave? Anyone know the answer? Thanks

NO...Baez cannot just quit. New Law regarding this went into effect in June. There is a current thread about this in the forum if you would like details!!

One of the talking heads on HLN ("Judge Alex") stated that Baez cannot just leave. At least two hearings must be held including one called a Nelson hearing. He also said the hearings would be held immediately if that were to happen. HTH!

We know JB asked HHJP for extra time for lunch even though HHJP was giving them an extra long lunch break to begin with.

Then IS reported that JB left the courthouse at the start of lunch where as the rest of the DT ate in the cafeteria.

Did JB ever come back into the courthouse or did he just call and tell a member of his team that he wouldn't be back and to pass that on to HHJP?

Unless it is a really good excuse I bet HHJP is mad if that is the case especially with them running out of time to use this courtroom.

KC might have been crying because JB dumped her.

I seriously don't think KC would fire him, but I think he would quit! KC can't handle being criticized or rejected...

HHBPJ called it a "matter" and CM might now be coming up with a new plan.

BBM respectfully: I have always thought that ICA has at least one personality disorder, especially Borderline Personality Disorder. IMO, more Narcissistic PD.

Embarrasingly, I have been diagnosed with it myself and one of the classic symptoms is "fear of abandonment". JMO of course.

And just for the record, I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER THINK OF HURTING A CHILD, so it's still no excuse what she has done.

Ps: I hope I am not annoying anyone. I don't usually drink and have just HAD to have a couple of beers after this fiasco.

I don't think the court just shuts down if an attorney can't be there, when there is a whole team. There will probably be days on both sides when someone can't make it for the whole day. Is this what would happen, shut down, no reason for the record?

ICA wiped the outside corners of her eyes, when leaving as if she was getting sleep out of her eyes but she also did this coming into court this morning so who knows...

She couldn't have been crying because she wiped her eyes and didn't look at her hands to see if there were tears or not. She always looks at her hands to see if she has actually produced real tears.

And now the rumors heat up even more after Nancy Grace reports that immediately after adjourning court, HHJP left and returned to Orlando.

She speculating whether this means a possible plea in the morning?

or just a homecooked meal with wife?

Speculation....speculation...

Wonder if he and Baez carpooled??!!!

This would be breaking if true but have to wonder if just a rumor.

Just back from taking my son to the orthodontist- have not read this thread yet, but I think she and JB have parted ways - he did make that speech today about his goal of a fair trial for her plus there has been a distance between them - I think that speech was a farewell speech. Sorry if I am not clear - I got AF's cold/sinus thing.

I agree.
JB's speech did seem like a swan song.
Defeated, with a tone of finality as if he understood it needed to be done.
ICA's eye-contact with her handlers before being escorted out by the deputy, just has a sort of apologetic aknowledgement to it.
As if, sorry, but this had to be done.
HHBP, His tone, one of proffesional disappointment.

All my speculation based on body language.
Amazing turn of events..but we expected no less.

Could be a family member has passed.. anything..
< sigh>

No way he's leaving. This is the biggest case of his career. He's not walking away- and it sounds like legally he can't.

KC was not crying at all. Baez was not there. Perry did not look upset either.

I have to disagree, if you go back and watch the tape of ICA returning after lunch, AF was strategically placed in front of the camera so you couldnt see ICA. Then when the angle was switched to camera 2, CM was bending over getting files and ICA at many points kept her hand on her neck, with her face pointed in the other direction so you couldnt see her. She was DEFINITELY holding back tears and they seemed to spill out at one point. I have no doubt she started bawling when she left the courtoon. And indeed, she is crying because something big is happening involving her.

OK, legally he can't quit without a hearing, can he be fired? Would that require a hearing as well?

Even ICA can tell and I am sure she has been told that this trial cannot be won and they are putting all their eggs in the sentencing.
Keeping in mind her distaste for criticism, it is possible she is not going to sit there and listen to anyone calling her names...ANYONE.

Look what she did when JB stated she was acting like a two year old? She moved her chair and has not sat next to him since. Imagine how she will be when her friends and family start talking bad..OMG!

She may just have given it up....

Casey can stop if her lead man isn't there.

You know it's been opined that JB is a lot like his client. And we all recall ICA begging her mother to give her one more day to "find" Caylee. Perhaps this is JB's way of begging HHJP for "one more day".

Nancy Grace's talking heads are not gospel ... he CANNOT quit, there are laws in Florida stopping him.

Thanks, I still don't understand why the judge would not say the reason, for the record, i.e. even if he was vague and just said that one of the defense attorneys cannot be present and the defendant has exercised her right to adjourn, etc...

It's a misdemeanor that is name is still attached too, he has one next week for a criminal felony - he won't be there either. JP ensured that dockets would be cleared because of this trial - anyone can take over either one of these :)

I'm kinda in shock that other folks are actually hiring him.

No. Unless the State were able to get a provision for this in a plea agreement.

IMO, the state would absolutely require this, if they were to agree to a plea. Not that I think they will, however.

Well, whatever this is, it appears it was casey's call. It was not a family matter for Jose because it was asked by the Judge if casey was consulted. It is about her...but isn't everything?

What happens if ICA wanted to plead but the state said "NO way"?

Would they lessen the charges? remove the DP?
