MADDIE kidnap witness Jane Tanner yesterday told how she watched the tot being snatched – and insisted she has NO doubt (1) about what she saw.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun – her first with any newspaper – Jane forcefully hit back at critics who have suggested she is lying.

Amid sobs, she said: "I DID see a man that night carrying away Madeleine.

"She WAS abducted."

Tears welling in her eyes, she went on: "I wake up to that image ever day. Every day I see him there, striding away, carrying Madeleine and I try desperately to remember more detail, what his face was like. (1)
"I think about it over and over again. It’s horrible.

I am so very very confused. If Jane saw a stranger carrying away a child that she was SURE was Maddie, why did she not notify someone IMMEDIATELY??? Am I missing something here? Wasn't it much later that she even mentioned this sighting, or is my memory off?

In the new Crimewatch, it is said that there was another crèche in the main reception building, the one the Tapas 9 used was in the same building as the secondary reception. The main reception was on the other side of building 4, whereas the McCann's were in building 5.

Praia da Luz is a tourist spot, with many hotels and places like Ocean Club. Estrela da Luz, Belavista da Luz, Aurora Sol, Waterside Village, to name just a few, most of them having creches. The man allegedly seen by Tanner was walking on the street OUTSIDE of the Ocean Club, and it is nowhere stated that he was returning his child from creche in the OC. So finding him was not that easy and I don't think that the police anywhere would have enough of people at hand to be able to check the creche registers in umpteen hotels, when they had so many other things to do and leads to check.

So can we be sure that the supposed witness who saw the supposed white male walking towards the beach with a blonde girl in his arms is actually telling the truth? If they are telling the truth, wouldn't that most likely be the "abductor" whoever the abductor really is?
Leading to the question of why didn't this person come forward in the very beginning? That would seem like a sight a person would remember....a man walking to the beach at night with a sleeping girl in his arms.

He was simply headed that direction. No one knows he was actually going to the beach. It's a resort area. IMO people carry sleeping children all the time....I do not believe an abductor was walking around carrying a sleeping three year old through the streets.

Well those of us who have been following this case since the minute it came on Sky T.V. knew there was a night creche, because we said why on earth didnt they use it.

ALSO actually on one other holiday to portugal by the Tapas 9 (they have been on holiday together before), the had all decided on their next holiday not to use creche as it was costly at night, and they would check the children themselves on a ROTA.

Its all out there if people want to look.

Please the PJ are not stupid, they only have to google Ocean Club creche facilities to find they had a night creche, that is why a lot of people use these type of holiday facilities because they are geared up for families.

I feel like I am on a roundabout going round and round lol......

Yes but I thought this was outside of the actual resort, like on a little side street? I think I would remember something like that if I saw it....maybe not in the resort itself, but on an outside street, yes. Especially just a man walking by himself carrying a sleeping child and no other family members with him.

I saw the Smith's second statement, and I have to say I believe they saw what they said they saw. Let's say that Madeleine was not abducted but something happened inside the villa....at some point Gerry would have had to take her out of that villa, before the police arrived. That would match up to the time the Smith's say they saw someone like him walking out on the street area carrying a sleeping child, walking in the same way Gerry walks and holding the child the same way he was holding his son getting off the plane. Those are too much of coincidence for me....

For me it is pretty obvious what happened with Jane. She believes Gerry and kate. She saw a man walking and carrying a sleeping girl with blonde hair and pink pygamas. It is in the same time frame when Madeleine was "taken." If it was me in that situation, knowing what I saw and knowing a girl was "abducted" feet away during the same time frame, I would be certain too that what I saw was the "abductor" taking Madeleine away.

I think the Tapas 7 believe Gerry and Kate, and them being so close to the situation with their own kids, them having also left their own kids in their rooms and them also having rotated checking up on their kids, they have extra motivation to want to believe Gerry and Kate. Because in their mind, they maybe have some kind of "survivor's guilt" as to the fact that, in their minds, it could have easily been one of their own kids who got abducted instead of Madeleine. So of course people in that situation would not see the situation as clearly as someone looking in from the outside. They feel like, it wasn't our kid who was taken, it was their kid when it could have been our kid, so how can we turn our backs on them?

I always thought Tanner had seen someone, just knew it wasnt the abductor it isnt logical....I agree with you, I think she was just trying to be helpful to her friends, her brain took over the rest, from a dark shadowy person maybe carrying someone she then saw man, clothing and child, maddy with pink pyjamas...its a fact we can do this with our brain and believe it too.

It was said on the Crimewatch programme that he was picking his child up from the night creche at the OC. That was how they traced him, I think, through the creche.

It just defies sense. Why would they do it? How would they do it?

They overdose their daughter and find her dead. Or she falls off the sofa and breaks her neck - another theory. Why would people seriously cover this kind of event up with a feigned abduction, have to somehow dispose of the body despite having constant media on their back (someone on here suggested they hired a deep sea boat! In the midst of the global media frenzy, Kate and Gerry board a deep sea boat unbeknownst to any soul, clutching body bag in hand!) and maintain a six year public presentation to feign trying to find her? It's ridiculous. There is no way they could have done it. Where would they have hidden her? Would the abduction really make them look better people than the truth about overdosing her? They're already massively frowned upon due to leaving three children alone in a foreign country, despite mass sympathy for the fate of a little girl.

Have they been entirely truthful? I don't think so. Was Madeleine really abducted? Yes.

Why would the rest of the tapas crew have to have known about it? It could have been just Kate and Gerry knew.
