Jaymz Touchstone, who attended the parade, said he was watching his daughter’s band when the vehicle “swerved around the big truck right behind the band and then accelerated through the band and down the street.”

“I tried to pursue the car. I couldn’t. I turned around and came back and started to render first aid to the people there,” Touchstone said. “The kid that I was rendering first aid to ... his feet were crushed. They ran over both of his legs. He hit his legs, got trapped under the tire.”

They had someone following the vehicle. He was parked right in this dudes driveway - the homeowner had not been at the parade and did not know about the atrocity that was committed just minutes earlier.

I’ve been having trouble quoting from this site - could someone possibly get the gist of this article on the thread for me? It’s an appalling investigation into Milwaukee County bail prices for domestic abuse offenders.

The I-Team examined all the 2021 domestic abuse cases assigned to the same ADA assigned to Brooks' case and found dozens of cases where bail was set under $1,000, including 45 felonies. We also found 16 cases where the bail was set above $5,000.

Ultimately, the bail amount is set by the presiding judge. These amounts aren't fully reflective of the ADA's recommendation, which could be higher. In a different case earlier this November, the ADA asked for a $5,000 cash bond. The judge ruled instead for a $1,500 Signature Bond; meaning the person charged could walk out of court with just a signature.

Defense Attorney Julius Kim of Kim and LaVoy Attorneys at Law agrees with Chisholm's assessment that the bail was inappropriate, but does not blame the ADA.

"In terms of setting bail, all domestic violence cases are kinda a crap-shoot in all honesty, because it’s hard to figure out when someone may do something incredibly drastic later down the line," Kim said.

It’s so hard to determine what the appropriate bail should be in each individual case," Kim said. "You can’t set $50,000, $100,000 cash bail on every person that comes through the criminal justice system because there’s only a certain amount of beds in the jail."

How can this act NOT be labeled as Terrorism?

Under 2001 USA-Patriot Act* "international terrorism" in itself is a defined fed crime but that law did not create a new fed crime of "domestic terrorism."* Domestic terrorism-type offenses are federally charged under other discrete laws, such as killing federal agents.
USA-PA defines "domestic terrorism" for purposes of authorizing fed LE investigations.

Based on ^, imo, FBI may investigate Waukesha events, for one or both purposes below.
-- Provide technical, forensic services per Waukesha LE and/or WI Dist Atty's requests.
-- to determine whether DB committed fed crimes, but fed dist atty can not prosecute for "domestic terrorism," as there is no such fed offense. If DB committed a discrete fed crime, fed Dist Atty could pursue that. my2ct

Some state criminal codes include domestic crimes called "terrorism"* but I've not searched re WI law yet.

I'm a bit behind but in MOO it's possible he's crying for himself not for his victims. He's somehow been able to live a life of crime with many victims and didn't seem to feel any remorse. The difference now is that he likely knows that he won't get off again. MOO

I just posted ~ an hour ago about why imo fed Dist Atty cannot charge DB w "domestic terrorism" offense (b/c no such fed crime, so won't repeat any more tedious detail from that) but may prosecute for other discrete fed crimes. And FBI may assist w investigation at request of Waukesha LE or WI dist atty. imo jmo moo.

Just my thoughts ATM after quick searches. Also have not checked for WI state law re terrorism.
