I have seen the terms " Parade Crash" and "parade accident" floating about, to describe this attack on humanity. IMO, this was definitely not a 'crash', nor was it an 'accident'..it was an intentional murderous run-down of innocents. See court proceeding from yesterday....there are multiple witnesses. <modsnip>

The obvious white-washing ( cover-up ) is absurd.

Media blasted for referring to Waukesha parade attack as 'crash'

Although most of the backlash emerged after CBS’ report on the charges, many other mainstream media outlets also notably referred to the events on Sunday as a "crash."

PBS previously wrote "Waukesha parade crash devastates holiday favorites ‘Dancing Grannies.’" USA Today repeatedly wrote about the "Waukesha parade crash" going so far as to label Brooks as the "Waukesha parade crash suspect." Newsweek also updated news on the tragedy under the banner "Waukesha Deadly Christmas Parade Crash."

DB attacked a crowd of innocent people. At a minimum, he’s a mass murderer. I’ve not seen a determination on whether it will be considered a hate crime, but I suspect it will not be charged as such. Without a link to foreign extremism, apparently it will not be called terrorism or a lone wolf attack. The police chief stated there is no evidence that the attack was domestic terrorism. I am reminded of a quote I see on threads: “Absence of evidence is not the same as evidence of absence.”

I am certain of two things.
1. The wording of criminal charges will not bring back the deceased victims, nor heal the lifelong injuries to the survivors.
2. DB is going to prison for life.

I'm a bit behind but in MOO it's possible he's crying for himself not for his victims. He's somehow been able to live a life of crime with many victims and didn't seem to feel any remorse. The difference now is that he likely knows that he won't get off again. MOO
ITA that he is probably crying for himself. I think it finally hit him that he can’t escape justice this time and be out on bail like he has for 20+ years. They are finally going to send him to Boscobel and that’s not going to be a good place for him - the inmates there hate those who harm our most vulnerable, especially children and the elderly.

They are still doing it. This was shared just a few minutes ago on FB

I believe that there’s a strategy, with particularly heinous crimes, to hire a female attorney to act particularly motherly and sympathetic toward the accused. It’d backfire, with me. Sounds as though it didn’t work on you, either.

MOO
It was similar in the Golden State killer case, D'angelo's female lawyer was touching/patting him, it was disgusting to watch, but surely it was a ploy to show the accused as a human being with feelings, (Ha!) imo, speculation

This happened in the Halderson case as well - seems to be a trend with a lot of female defense attorneys/public defenders when their male clients are accused of heinous crimes.

Also, Tammy Lee with Chris Watts in the interrogation room. They did get a confession from CW. I am hoping for a guilty plea from DB. >> Before you all beat me to it, yeah I know, hope is not a strategy.

Additional charges related to the sixth death and the more than 60 people injured will be coming later this week or next, said Waukesha County District Attorney Susan Opper. The criminal complaint said 62 people were injured, up from the 48 previously announced by police.

He has to be crying for himself, he has no human regard for anyone else…and hasn’t for a very long time.

It makes justice even better in cases like this. He thought he was invincible and would continue to do as he pleased. Another example is Paul Murdaugh. He was able to escape justice for decades. It has to hit them a little harder than beginner criminal justice.

WHEN ARE THE "COURTS"
going to "get it"?
Please! Stop granting bail to these deranged people who abuse humans and animals!!!!
They don't deserve to be treated exactly like the living breathing souls that they abused.
I'm so sick of them passing the "buck" because it's complicated.
HUMAN up.
Lock them up!
We the People, deserve to live in peace...
Not run over by a crazed person at a parade, not to be eliminated by gunshots in our homes, not to be killed by our abusive family members AFTER there have been numerous reasons that prove they are not worthy of anything other than locked in a cell for life.
MOO
I don't know if the courts have much of a choice. The minute DB's attorney stated his client was indigent, that sets the tone for bail in the state of WI. Which is why I think it's important to know what the rules are in your state in regards to bail and repeat criminals.

EXCLUSIVE: Waukesha massacre suspect Darrell Brooks was convicted for threatening to bomb the Nugget Casino in Nevada and is STILL wanted in the state for failing to appear in court Darrell Brooks was once convicted for threatening to bomb a Nevada casino | Daily Mail Online

    • Darrell Brooks was busted in March 2007 for calling in a bomb threat to the $43-per-night Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nevada, DailyMail.com can reveal
    • He was put on probation after being convicted of conspiring to disturb the peace - a gross misdemeanor - and was banned from the casino for life
    • His rap sheet also includes a conviction for statutory sexual seduction – the term for sex with a minor aged 16 or under in Nevada law - in January 2007
    • Brooks was also charged with failing to inform the police of a change of address while a registered sex offender
    • Court papers seen by DailyMail.com show Brooks is still wanted in Nevada for failing to appear on the change of address charge after he missed a court date

    • His rap sheet also includes a conviction for statutory sexual seduction – the term for sex with a minor aged 16 or under in Nevada law – in January 2007 and another of failing to inform the police of a change of address while a registered sex offender.

The latter two counts both relate to the mother of his child – named in Wisconsin court papers as 'EAP' – who he punched and tried to run over at a gas station in Milwaukee on November 2.

Brooks pled guilty to the single count of statutory sexual seduction in exchange for a reduced sentence of 36-months on probation and a $2,362 fine. He was also ordered to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation.

I can’t fit all the info in above from the daily Mail so continuing here.

Court papers seen by DailyMail.com show Brooks is still wanted in Nevada for failing to appear on the change of address charge after he missed a court date in August 2016.

Records from the Sparks Criminal Justice Center show the warrant has been renewed three times – most recently in January 2021.

In addition to his convictions for battery, bomb threats and sex offenses, Brooks' rap sheet includes a 120-day jail sentence for nonpayment of child support to another woman in March 2021.

He was also arrested for shooting at his nephew Anaji during a fight over an old cellphone.

Anaji wrote a heartfelt note to support his bid to get a no contact order against his uncle, saying the incident had affected him 'more so emotionally than physically.'

'It made me come to the conclusion that this man wasn't family or kin to me,' Ajani added. 'Family shouldn't hurt family the way he did.

'It has brought my trust in people to become very low than it already has.'

The no contact order meant that Brooks had to leave his four-bedroom home in Milwaukee's Arlington Heights area because Anaji also lived there.

Brooks's grandmother Dawn Woods, who also lives in the house also took out a similar order against him.

Anaji Brooks told DailyMail.com he could not discuss his uncle's case.

The 39-year-old has also served time in jail on charges of aggravated battery and carrying a concealed weapon, and has been convicted of drug offenses multiple times.

Terminology. Parade Crash or Accident?
I see why some ppl think those terms do not accurately describe the events or actions; I agree.
First "crash" and "accident" suggest a single point of impact, not a scene w dozens of strikes, covering several city blocks. And "accident" suggests circumstances beyond the driver's control.
Synonyms I saw for crash do not convey the right notion (Thanks anyway, ;) Monsieur Roget).
Collision, maybe, but still seems to be a single event. Pile up, maybe, seems to apply to multiple vehicles, not victims along several blocks. Wreck, IDK.
Not thinking of better alternative to either word. my2ct

I may be overlooking some alternatives. Regardless of MSM's description, a tragic day for everyone.

Other phrases?
In traveling thru parade, DB drove in such a way that his car struck participants and bystanders.
Factual (unless someone else was at the wheel).
Nope, waaay too long for headline, awkward length for other sentences.
Or?

DB went on a murderous spree.
Nope, not in MSM. That suggests/concludes he had the intent necessary to criminally cause deaths & injuries. No trial, no conviction. Has not yet been proven in court.
Or?

Seeing his cute face was devastating. He hadn't even gotten his big front teeth in yet. :(....and their older son had a fractured skull and is still in the hospital. I hope this family has a strong support network.
