Brooks charged with victim intimidation

WAUKESHA — The man charged with killing six people and injuring more than 60 at the Waukesha Christmas Parade faces new charges in a Milwaukee County case.

Darrell Brooks Jr., 39, was charged Monday with one count of felony intimidation of a victim, one count of felony intimidation of a witness and one count of felony bail jumping. The first two charges carry up to 10 years imprisonment each — he faces a bevy of additional charges in that including resisting or obstructing an officer, felony bail jumping, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct and battery.

The new charges come in a case from November where prosecutors say Brooks ran over a woman with a red Ford Escape — the same vehicle tied to the Nov. 21 Waukesha Christmas Parade, where Brooks is charged with driving into the parade. In that case, he faces six counts of homicide in Waukesha County, each carrying a life sentence.

According to the criminal complaint filed Monday, using the jail phone, Brooks allegedly told a woman he loved her and wanted to marry her. The criminal complaint says he punched her in the face and ran her over two days earlier.

Prosecutors say Brooks used phone calls from jail to intimidate the woman he’d allegedly run over at a gas station Nov. 2 in Milwaukee. The victim apparently suffered a dislocated left femur and fractured right ankle.

The victim and Brooks spoke Nov. 4. Brooks allegedly told her “I’m sitting up here facing 60 [expletive] years... you have to keep your mouth shut.” He also told her he would likely die in prison and to think of how that would make his mother feel. “This was all stuff you wasn’t thinking about when you opened your mouth,” he said.

Brooks repeatedly called the woman for more than a week, the complaint said.
So he calls the woman he attacked and threatened her? Quite a different persona than the one he exhibited during the the bail hearing.

Jill Biden visits Waukesha, Children's Wisconsin after parade attack
MILWAUKEE - First lady Jill Biden paid respects to the victims of the Waukesha Christmas parade attack – meeting with several survivors and families of some who were killed on Wednesday.

The first lady went to the memorial in Waukesha's Veterans Park where many have left flowers, teddy bears and candles in honor of the six people killed and more than 60 who were injured. A moment of silence in a heartbroken city, Biden shared a message of support.

"There is no logic to this loss. It feels especially unthinkable that it happened at a Christmas parade," Biden said. "All of America mourns with Waukesha."

The first lady was flanked by U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff.

"We are so, so deeply sorry for your loss," said Emhoff.

WAUKESHA, Wis. — Tyler Pudleiner was one of several Waukesha South High School band members injured during the Waukesha Christmas Parade when a man drove his car through barricades and hit dozens of people.

"I remember lying there and then the paramedics and (my) mom showed up," he said recalling the moments after he was hit. "I went into shock so thankfully I don't remember everything."

Pudleiner is still recovering from his injuries at home, which is quite the change from the busy schedule he's used to.

Pudleiner is a junior at the high school, plays tenor saxophone for the band, is a baseball player, and works a job.

Unfortunately, the injuries he sustained have prevented him from doing the things he loves, but on Wednesday night he got a little bit of normalcy back as the Waukesha South band will take the stage for the first time since the parade tragedy.

"It will be cool to get to see some other buddies from the incident. (This) will be the first time I've seen them since, so that will be pretty cool," Pudleiner said.

Brooks gets new Milwaukee bail: $200,000

If someone could grab significant quotes for this that would be great. Just popping in to drop the link.

From the article: ( BBM )

"Milwaukee County Deputy District Attorney Matthew Torbenson requested Monday a new, $200,000 bail be set for Brooks in the Milwaukee County case. He cited two “serious and egregious reasons” for that: the behavior that led to Brooks being charged with six counts of homicide following the Christmas parade, and his new charges of victim intimidation."

My personal interpretation of this? The DA in Milwaukee is attempting to recover from his/the previous and initial LOW BAIL....which resulted in the slaughter of innocent parade participants. No Dice Dude.....

This is unrelated, but just as horrific. There is a pattern of letting criminals go free. With zero consequences of their actions. This is the result. The man who caused this crash, had a history of driving convictions, the last one, only 15 days before he killed this family. No trial, the perpetrator is dead.

Waukesha suspect Darrell Brooks pleads not guilty to killing six and injuring more than 60
Darrell Brooks, sporting a bald head, chatted with his lawyer and flipped through papers during the arraignment

Waukesha suspect Darrell Brooks pleads not guilty to killing six and injuring more than 60
I’m not going to respond Like because I don’t like it. I don’t like that people like DB can drive through a parade route killing and injuring innocent people and the plead not guilty when he knows what he did was filmed. I firmly believe he should get the DP.
