After the parade tragedy, in a show of solidarity with the victims and families the community adopted a Waukesha Strong" motto and as part of that, residents were asked to put blue lights up on their porches and businesses.

The survivors said it would mean a lot to them to flip those back on again Wednesday night.

See you all on Monday! It’s been nice to commiserate with others about the ridiculousness of this trial. I’ve never seen a trial come close to this level of absolute disrespect towards the judicial process.

The shenanigans were beyond infuriating at times; 6 people were killed, dozens injured physically, thousands affected mentally, and this ignorant, narcissistic monster made the trial about *him*. DB makes my blood boil and I can’t wait until he hears his sentence and realizes his life is really and truly over. No more women to beat and manipulate. Replaced by cold bars and loneliness forever.

I can’t imagine the pain these poor families went through during this trial. Can you imagine for a second how you’d feel watching the media cover his manipulative stalling tactics after he murdered or mowed down your family members? Beyond enraged. To be honest, I’m enraged as a human to watch this farce go on.

It’s been nice to have someone to share my obsession with! I’ve been watching trials my whole life and never felt compelled to join a community like this until now- I simply HAD to reach out because I needed someone to commiserate with. Thank you all!

But, I think a sentence of 1,009 years is warranted. 859 years plus 6 consecutive life sentences (6×25=150, 150 + 859= 1009).

I am waiting for the numerous appeal issues.

1. The completely white jury that convicted the black man.
2. The fact that he was allowed to represent himself.

I am not going to argue about these issues, I just see them as potential appellate issues.

IMO, consequences were never ever taught, shown, or believed in. That is obvious. Only excuses and blame shifting were utilized.

Darrell Brooks isn't some poor caged bird with it's wings clipped.
He is the human definition of "Failure to Fledge", and I personally can see why.

He belongs in a cage, locked away from others...for the safety and well being of human kind.

He belongs in a cage, locked away from others...for the safety and well being of human kind.

When you love someone, you try to justify their actions by blaming it completely on their mental illness. It is easier to do that than admit that the person you love is capable of being a monster.

My long-term relationship recently ended. He suffered from a personality disorder as well. A couple years ago he was an amazing, loving, caring person. The stress of Covid and several other live events brought about a spiral that ended with him having uncontrollable anger. Our arguments felt exactly like what we saw with DB arguing with the judge. When the anger would get to a certain point, it was literally uncontrollable. There were no other emotions or rational in his brain other than anger. This escalated from verbal abuse to physical.

This is not to say he was excused for his behavior because of his mental illness. While his behavior was not controllable as a result of that illness, he made the conscious choice not to participate in therapy and other activities that would help prevent it. He made the choice not to employ some of the many coping mechanisms people with personality disorders develop in order to survive.

I’m sharing this because I understand where his mother is coming from. Individuals with a personality disorder act completely normal until the trigger occurs and they enter the emotional dysregulation period. She is just as much a victim as those injured in the parade, as she has likely suffered 30 years of emotional abuse, gaslighting and a constant battle with the child she loves and wants to save. She is in denial and will likely need years of therapy to come to terms with what happened. At that point, she will likely be able to step back and look at the situation and realize even with mental health treatment, people with severe personality disorders, have a very low percentage of recovery. Most, like DB, are better off being a caged bird for the rest of their lives, that risking the safety of the rest of society.

i certainly see where DB got some of his ideas. Dawn Brooks just keeps making excuses for him...the bird analogy is really random and just strange. Proudly declares she will not be at sentencing and in fact I doubt there will be anyone speaking on his behalf other than probably himself.

I wonder how many innocent children and adults were affected physically, mentally and emotionally by DB's actions that day... and have since required medication and therapy to help them with pain, fear and broken hearts? JMO but I feel those victims might sleep a little better at night knowing Brooks is "caged".

Even if he was, most medications have a lot of side effects. Between that and the “I’m feeling better, I don’t need them,” thoughts, it’s very very common for them to not be taken regularly.

Exactly and based on his behavior in the courtroom, he was never taught any respect for authority. She is a classic enabler, IMO. She herself said in a previous interview that she wishes she had not bailed him out of jail not long before he drove her own car that she gave him the keys to that he used as a murder weapon.

I would counter that thousands of people do take prescribed medications for mental health issues and they are able to lead productive lives. Your body adjusts to the medication and side effects are much less noticeable after a period of time.

He did not speak words of remorse during his closing argument. In fact, he stated that his conscience is clear and he has no regrets.

His mother stated in an earlier interview after he was charged with these murders that he was 'not taking his meds'.

Here is an article from Dec 1. 2021 in which she states he did not have access to medication or mental health resources throughout his life, due to the legal system.
