I just received this #BehindtheScenes picture of #WaukeshaChristmasParade victim #GinnySorenson’s husband being comforted by Pepper, the support dog from the prosecutor’s office, while he watched the trial of #DarrellBrooks from the courthouse. Brooks was convicted of murdering Ginny & 5 others as he sped through the parade with his SUV

For those not familiar with the case against Kimberly Kessler for the murder of Joleen Cummings, here is how this judge handled Kessler. Start at about 27 minutes

There were no 'sidebars' in this trial. Due to the fact that DB was representing himself AND shackled at the ankles. There was no way they were going to allow him to " approach the bench". Instead....we got the DB show/circus. I guess, in a twisted sort of way..I prefer watching and seeing all, vs watching people whisper to each other for minutes on end. MOO

From mom’s interview -

…whenever he goes into that explosiveness, he can’t stop," said Woods. "He can’t control. He doesn't even know what he’s doing."

My opinion, he was able to control himself physically during his emotional outburst from the other courtroom, when he yelled at the judge so loud he could be heard in other courtrooms. So many times I expected boxes or anything not nailed down to go flying. I was kinda sorta hoping for the officer behind him to have a reason to test those ankle shocks.

During the trial, he can be seen turning on and off his outbursts like pushing a switch. He knew exactly how far he could go with his antics. Mom is wrong. He knows what he is doing. imo

Just want to confirm what will happen in court Monday. Will it be for the reading of victim impact statements?

No, Monday is a scheduling day to discuss dates, time allotments etc. Planning the day for Sentencing, including VIS.

Perhaps Darrell Brooks or his Mom should have paid for an expert to testify as a defense witness that DB did not know what he was doing that day and did not remember what he had done. Since he did not, the jury only had his word that his acts were not intentional. The jury voted on the evidence presented. And I only mentioned his Mom because she is stating in interviews that he did not know what he was doing. JMO

Mom crafting a defense after the verdict is really counterproductive. Don't know whose decision it was for her not to be called but she could have gotten her thoughts out if he called her....over objections but still plant the seed. Either he chose to not call her or she refused to come. If his criminal history is due to "being off meds" then he has been off them for a very long time!

I believe that DB said during trial, that "If I tell her to come...She goin to be here".

And, IMO his mother may have said..." Don't nobody TEll me what to do!" "Did you just axe me? Or tell me? "

And, round and round it went.

I would counter that thousands of people do take prescribed medications for mental health issues and they are able to lead productive lives. Your body adjusts to the medication and side effects are much less noticeable after a period of time.
It really depends on the medication taken, for example, Lithium.

Edit to add: Regardless of mental illness, Darrell certainly knew right from wrong and was responsible for his crimes.

Kuhnmuench called Dorow's handling of Brooks' behavior and record-keeping "masterful."

I agree with her 100%. It was indeed masterful
the same commentators that were not happy at all with her during trial are now singing her praises. I knew that would happen. Making a record was her primary goal together with giving him the most fair trial possible.

Yes of course it depends on the medication. We don’t know what meds he had been on in the past so it would be all speculation. I’m not a doctor so I can’t comment on the effects of any particular medication. Apologies if I spoke up when I shouldn’t have.
