And with the 2022 parade just about five weeks away, many are looking forward to reclaiming a beloved tradition. [Snip] "The theme this year is 'Peace on Earth.' [Snip] So, this year there will be a special float honoring the victims. "This float will be a remembrance float for the victims, the families, the first responders, everyone who was affected by last year's parade," Andrews said.

The City of Waukesha in partnership with the Waukesha Chamber of Commerce are announcing a new date for the 2022 Christmas Parade. We will be hosting the 2022 Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 4, 2022, beginning at 4 p.m.

For nearly 60 years the parade commenced the Sunday before Thanksgiving. However, this year we must consider lessons learned as we move forward from last year’s tragic event. Notably, the parade route is now a closed perimeter-based route. The City has also enhanced the special event permitting process to balance the event objectives and what can be supported by the City of Waukesha staff, while being fiscally responsible. Additionally, using federal funds, the City invested in technology, training, and equipment to provide enhanced safety for special events while allowing events such as the parade to continue.

By adjusting the Christmas Parade date, more resources are available for staffing in cases of unplanned emergencies which includes Police and Fire Department resources, hospital staff, and many others.

Proceeds

A portion of proceeds from the parade will be donated to local community organizations

Parade Safety

The Waukesha City Council has approved the purchase of vehicle barriers which will be used to block off roads along the parade route. The Modular Vehicle Barriers (MVB) are designed to help protect crowds from traffic, but can be easily moved out of the way if needed in an emergency.

The Chamber is working closely with the City of Waukesha, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Department of Public Works to enhance the safety of parade participants and attendees. Extra measures are being taken by all involved parties to have a safe and successful event. For those who are uncomfortable attending in person, TMJ4 will be broadcasting the parade live.

Support

Healing Hearts of Wisconsin will have a tent set up at Cutler Park on the day of the parade to provide support and resources for members of the community. They will also have personnel along the parade route to offer assistance as desired.

I wondered if Waukesha was having the parade this year.
Part of me would love to go, to support the community who was so badly affected. It would be a four hr drive, but manageable. Just pondering..Thank You for the posts @YaYa_521

A lot of courage for those folks. I know that it will be really tough for a lot of people.

I feel the same way, @shotgun09. I can't imagine my presence there will contribute much to their healing but I'd be one more body helping to show solidarity against evil. Also, I think it would be wonderful to experience firsthand the community bonding and loving, peaceful energy that will undoubtedly be flowing through the crowd during the parade. I was glad to read that the parade will be broadcasted live on TMJ4 to allow folks to at least be there in spirit. And, you're welcome. :)

Unless DB is in a prison close by (doubtful) I don't think mama will be coming ever to visit. Weki made good points...especially if you feel your son is mentally ill and did this in a manic phase most mothers would show up in court at least for verdict and sentencing. I think the only surprise left is hearing what Judge Dorow says at sentencing. I am sure it will be well crafted and to the point and probably not what she really wants to say. I am confident that if Wi. had DP DB would have gotten that with no problem. I think this is better...he will work on the appeal and will be denied and he will rot in prison.

I hope law enforcement carefully analyzes his "friends" and life prior to this. There are more walking the streets of MKE etc. just like him. He apparently was in some gangs. I assume the judge has some protection and if the jurors were smart even though many probably know who they are by now....would not do interviews etc. Retribution is real in this world of DB.

An unsettling and frightening thought, @turaj . Those of us who watched the trial saw DB stare through/at each juror as they were polled at the end.

I agree with the man from the gallery.
I agree with him too and hope he's not charged with contempt of court. He was a spokesperson for all.

I highly doubt the town "hero" will be charged considering the circumstances and especially given the amount of patience Her Honor showed toward DB for his shenanigans throughout the 3 weeks of trial. MOO

Ha! I wonder if our "hero" will be given an active role in the upcoming parade? Maybe the Grand Marshall? He could wear a crown, even! :D

Good grief! I'm sorry I watched her her statement. I see him in her face and hear him in her words.

I think the sentencing victim impact statements will be good. If I were prosecutor I would try to organize them to get as many as want to speak...keeping each one short but impactful. I know they have a right to say as much as they want but there will be so many I think the impact will be in the sheer number of victims. We know there cannot be nor would there be any room for mercy shown for this convicted mass murderer so just a chance to face him. He won't look at them in my prediction. He should be in jailhouse gear I assume.
Also to Chelly's point above he moves her mouth just like DB....you can see him in her no question.

Declaring yourself a sovereign citizen is a strange thing. Did he commit an act of war? Should he be in a military prison as he is a citizen of some other entity than the United States?1
See you all on Monday! It’s been nice to commiserate with others about the ridiculousness of this trial. I’ve never seen a trial come close to this level of absolute disrespect towards the judicial process.

The shenanigans were beyond infuriating at times; 6 people were killed, dozens injured physically, thousands affected mentally, and this ignorant, narcissistic monster made the trial about *him*. DB makes my blood boil and I can’t wait until he hears his sentence and realizes his life is really and truly over. No more women to beat and manipulate. Replaced by cold bars and loneliness forever.

I can’t imagine the pain these poor families went through during this trial. Can you imagine for a second how you’d feel watching the media cover his manipulative stalling tactics after he murdered or mowed down your family members? Beyond enraged. To be honest, I’m enraged as a human to watch this farce go on.

It’s been nice to have someone to share my obsession with! I’ve been watching trials my whole life and never felt compelled to join a community like this until now- I simply HAD to reach out because I needed someone to commiserate with. Thank you all!
If he is a Citizen of Sovereign but then violated the laws of the US, like all criminals found to be committing crimes in another country will be charged and tried and serve the penalty in the country where the crime is committed, unless negotiated differently.

When you love someone, you try to justify their actions by blaming it completely on their mental illness. It is easier to do that than admit that the person you love is capable of being a monster.

My long-term relationship recently ended. He suffered from a personality disorder as well. A couple years ago he was an amazing, loving, caring person. The stress of Covid and several other live events brought about a spiral that ended with him having uncontrollable anger. Our arguments felt exactly like what we saw with DB arguing with the judge. When the anger would get to a certain point, it was literally uncontrollable. There were no other emotions or rational in his brain other than anger. This escalated from verbal abuse to physical.

This is not to say he was excused for his behavior because of his mental illness. While his behavior was not controllable as a result of that illness, he made the conscious choice not to participate in therapy and other activities that would help prevent it. He made the choice not to employ some of the many coping mechanisms people with personality disorders develop in order to survive.

I’m sharing this because I understand where his mother is coming from. Individuals with a personality disorder act completely normal until the trigger occurs and they enter the emotional dysregulation period. She is just as much a victim as those injured in the parade, as she has likely suffered 30 years of emotional abuse, gaslighting and a constant battle with the child she loves and wants to save. She is in denial and will likely need years of therapy to come to terms with what happened. At that point, she will likely be able to step back and look at the situation and realize even with mental health treatment, people with severe personality disorders, have a very low percentage of recovery. Most, like DB, are better off being a caged bird for the rest of their lives, that risking the safety of the rest of society.
He is capable of thinking of consequences, making him capable of standing trial. If he had a lawyer they may have tried to use hisl self absorption as a mitigating circumstance, but 6 dead and scores injured isn’t going to get less than life in any case IMHO.

OH that photo of Jackson Sparks is heartbreaking. So hard to see.

I’m thinking DB’s Mom should show up at the sentencing hearing and all future hearings for her son. There are bailiffs in the courtroom and she could have someone pick her up immediately after to avoid any confrontations. I really don’t get why she has not shown up in court to support him.
