Thinking the same. I've seen video from home and businesses and it can be grainy and hard to make anything out or clear. Have to wonder who provided color video.

they probably could see minimal color, and then enhanced it. It's usually kind of a gray scale but with small amounts of color, if that makes sense.

Just observing some things out loud for consideration:

-> The storm door police took from the scene was in tact. The glass wasn't shattered or damaged that I could see. To me, this would indicate someone did NOT shoot anyone THROUGH the storm door. This must mean that whoever shot James did so at close range, and had to have opened (or had that door opened) to him/her/them before firing. So we're not talking about someone who went sniper style with a scope on a gun from a distance say in the driveway / front of the house. Someone walked right up to that door, had it opened, or opened it and James was killed.

-> I saw that the Sherrif had said in some main stream media interview that police attending the initial call saw "feet" (loosely paraphrasing). I'm looking for the interview that I saw earlier this morning that states that so I can quote it... but I can't remember where I read it. It was a quote from the sheriff that I'm specifically looking for but the gist was that the police saw feet - he wasn't sure at what point / where they were when they saw feet. If you have the link, pls send me it so I can add it here...
But to me, if dad was barefoot, and police saw feet, then he hadn't been out and just walked in the door. He had been home, perhaps ready for bed? Maybe got out of bed for some reason and went to the door? :(

I cannot find the transcript online (though someone else posted a snippet). Source is:
Ashleigh Banfield's phone interview with Sheriff Fitzgerald, 10/22

And I listened to it and did *not* take away that he was for sure barefoot, only that they saw feet due to an ajar door as they approached. It pretty much solidifies for me though that he was shot right there at the door on approach.

And I would hate to be the person who owns that car with all the speculating going on!
absolutely agree. I don't put too much stock into it because they were so positive on it being the make and model they asked for help finding. JMO as always.

Curious as to when the farmers start cutting corn, beans, etc? Is harvest season now like it is where I live?
Getting pretty close I’m sur e

I have seen hundreds of searches, but I have never seen a turn out like this. Incredible.

What kind of vehicle were the two mystery teens driving?

I’m following from MN too! A bit north of the cities now, but originally from the iron range.

Welcome fellow MN'ers! Cottage Grove here.

Have any of you participated in a search similar to this one? If so, can you share what it is like? Do the LE usually provide specific things to look for? Is the search usually broken into groups with leaders for each group? How do searchers decide whether a found item is worth the time of the LE; for instance, will searchers have to call in any piece of trash no matter how small? Basically, how does this all work?

They are right in the middle of it now. Although most of the farms in this area are dairy farms, they do still grow some corn. Driving through Barron county you will see some corn, but not nearly to the same degree you would see it in southern MN/Iowa.

It was said before that a couple teens were repeatedly driving by the house and I assume told by police to stop.
Two mystery teens? What? Where did this come from?
