Oh my goodness. I wasn’t able to watch the presser live, but did read everyone’s comments here about seeing the dog. Now seeing the clip, that is one amazing dog. Not sure if it’s a he or a she, but the dog did a pretty good job in the presser, and I see why so many of you were led to tears.

Good job, little dog.
I believe the dogs name is Molly, I think it's a female.

Thanks for the recap. I just couldn't watch. Can't do it, can't sit and watch another family plead for a child and have it end up like Mollie.
I was hoping something would have been found during the last search, but if nothing else it might direct them in another direction.
This is hard to watch for sure. But, sheriff did say they are still searching through what was collected by 2000 volunteers yesterday. Hope and patience... And balls of steel.

I don't know why we aren't hearing just let her go. anywhere. don't have to speak to no one, don't have to let anyone see, but just let her go. I know it is important to catch whoever has her, but in my opinion it is more important for her to come home.

I worked with middle school kids for years and even though some of the girls may try to act older and talk about boyfriends they are still incredibly naive and childish. They still want stickers on their papers, like to play games like musical chairs and tag or hide and seek. Some are more mature than others, but I get the idea also that Jayme is still more like a twelve year old than a typical teenager.

The Sheriff has stated previously that Jayme is not involved and I suggest all talk of that stop immediately.

ETA: CNN.com - Transcripts

It's possible she was lured by an unknown (to us) predator, online or a family 'friend' ?
At this time, LE have stated Jayme is not a suspect.
So that is what I believe.

But it's a crime sleuthing forum and posters are here to discuss and speculate.

We cannot instruct others how to post... but roll and scroll are your friends.

LE and the FBI do not know what happened, and my .02 is that they're grasping at straws. They don't know why this happened ; but certainly have clues as to the manner in which the tragedy unfolded.

This is beyond frustrating and it'd benefit those searching and most of all Jayme if more information could be released !
Hoping for a somewhat good conclusion, which would be Jayme back with her relatives and cared for. And even if that happens, there'll be people wondering how she was kept hidden ,safely -- and why her parents had to die ?

Was it a person who waited and watched the house ? Or an online 'boyfriend' who turned out to be a different person altogether , a monster ?

I know I'm probably repeating everything that has already been said but that presser really got to me. Seeing her dog, and the dogs name brought immediate tears. As a fellow poster has already explained, it was clear that the FBI helped the family write that statement based on important things to Jayme. By having her dog present and the Starbucks drink, tangible visuals were provided that I know the FBI had an important reason for including. In terms of people questioning the demeanor of the family members speaking...they have and are going through one of the most traumatic events anyone could ever experience. I will echo what other have said that we all react differently. Some of us go on auto pilot just to get through the day, some of us need to be medicated just to function, there's no right way to grieve.

I felt this was a controlled message to the perp and Jayme. Humanizing her for the perp and offering hope to Jayme. It also served the purpose of appealing to anyone who might have information that they have not come forward with.

Thanks to all the posters who have kept us updated with the presser and for all of the thoughtful and intelligent posts.

Well, I think I have a different personal perspective on the Starbucks bottled coffee drink. It's NOT an unusual drink.

In fact, in the small supermarket in my private community, there's a clear cooler display of chilled Starbucks drinks. People here are hot most of the year, so I usually pick up something myself- a Vanilla something or the other ( I don't drink coffee so I don't know the name).

If we have it here, and the local area groceries also have it when I'm checking out with my grocery purchases, then what this tells me is that Starbucks is marketing their cold drinks in markets which likely don't have a huge walk- in Starbucks presence. Small towns all across the USA, IOW. We have a Starbucks, but it's empty every time I've been in, and the drive- thru is excruciatingly slow.

We have stores with a Starbucks literally inside them that still sell those bottled drinks. They’re marketed everywhere!

Maybe they want him to feel that he is in control.

Just tossing in my 2 cents because I haven’t been able to read other posts, WS has been down for me. My thought on watching the presser was that they were, literally, talking to Jayme, but I feel the intended purpose was definitely to try to appeal to the perp’s feelings. To humanize Jayme. I did, however, wonder if they were speaking to a female perp rather than male. The tone of it kind of just gave me that feeling. I know statistically, this is likely a male perp, but just something while watching it made me feel like this could be female, maybe even a mom. I think, without a doubt, they feel that the person who did this knows the entire family.

Do we know why her dad was divorced? Going with the female theory, maybe a mistress who killed Denise first, James either tries to kick her out of the house and she comes back and shoots him, or he comes home from work and is shot by her, then she grabs Jayme? Maybe she was trying to convince James and Jayme to leave with her? Kills Denise in the process? I don’t know. Just thinking out loud.

I think that the person responsible is a male, but there could be females around him, like a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother etc..who might have information or think they do but are afraid to come forward. I would think this presser would definitely help at giving them the push to come forward. JMO

So this thread does not get shut down remember there is an "ignore" button where you will not see posts from a member you ignore. You click on a member's avatar and then click "ignore."

Excellent advice that I'm going to take because I am riled up and crying.

Jayme, sweet child, I hope you are free soon.

This is my first post on here so a big hello to all Websleuthers!

One thing i noticed during the press conference earlier was the body language of the FBI officer. When asked if there was a suspect he was non-committal but he actually nodded his head a few times. I believe that, despite not saying anything, he is actually answering yes to the question by nodding his head. I hope this is true and that they do have a suspect.

My heart goes out to Jayme and all her family and friends in this case.
:) Welcome to Websleuths, WiseOwl! :)
I hope you are correct.

Can we compare the recent pressers in the Mollie Tibbetts case? In those pressers, they were pleading to let her come home or for Mollie to come. We don’t hear that in this one. Why?

I'm talking about her dressy outfits and she's wearing a little lipgloss. She's very pretty.

I’m wondering if a couple of photos are from her dance school. Usually the girls are in costume and wearing makeup for their dance photos.

<modsnip - removed quoted post and direct response to it> We should be focusing on Jayme. I hope she is alive. I hope whomever has her is going out to buy her favorite things. I hope she saw her aunt on tv and was filled with strength knowing her family loves her and wants her home. MOO.

During the Hannah Graham case I know that they also used some of the humanizing details to appeal to the family of the perp. In this case, maybe they're hoping someone close to him has suspicions and could potentially be guilted into turning the perp in to LE

I don't know what photo you are going by but in every photo I've seen she looks younger than her age. JMO. In the most recent photos she looks just 13 but I wouldn't guess any older. She does not seem a mature 13 to me at all. She doesn't style her hair much or use lots of make-up. Her eyebrows are still natural. And she isn't wearing more adult clothing trying to look older. She doesn't try to make those pouty faces the older teens do to try to look sexy. She simply smiles a shy smile. There are not even any photos of Jayme that seem to be selfies-- all seem to have been taken by someone else. Although, you are free to disagree on perceived age or perceived maturity, I don't understand the point of debating it. She is actually 13 and just turned 13 in July-- 3 months ago. She is no where near the age of 15 or 16.

The above 3 are the most recent photos I believe (denim jacket was the Sunday before).
Observance, search planned for missing girl Jayme Closs

Some of these above are older photos (from when she was younger)-- sparkly outfits are dance costumes, not her everyday look.

And I'm pretty sure that if she had any of those sexy or pouty poses on SM, someone would have found them by now and we would know about it. Jmo

The bottled drinks are in every grocery store, but the frap isn't a bottled drink.
