Found Deceased WI - Theodore Egge, 35, ran out of gas, car found on the side of the road, Athelstane, Marinette Co., 13 Jan 2023

MARINETTE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 35-year-old man.

Deputies are looking for Theodore W. Egge, who is 5’11” and weighs around 190 pounds with blue eyes and no hair.

“He is not in any trouble,” said officials on the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. “We are looking to check the welfare of Theodore.”

Egge was possibly operating a 2007 blue Jeep Liberty with a WI license plate APB9282 on Benson Lake Road near Northway Drive on Friday, January 13, 2023, at around 2:00 p.m.

Deputies say that anyone property in this area is asked to check their surveillance and trail cameras for any sign of Egge.

If anybody has any information on the welfare or whereabouts of Theodore Egge, you are encouraged to contact the Marinette County Dispatch Center at (715) 732-7627.

MARINETTE, Wis. (WFRV) – It’s been nearly one week since 35-year-old Theodore W. Egge went missing in Marinette County, and his parents are speaking out.

Local 5 News caught up with Ted and Roxanne Egge to talk about their feelings and what they think may have happened to their son.

“He was living with a guy up in this area, and [the guy] contacted [Roxanne] on Saturday afternoon and said he was concerned for Theodore and that he hadn’t seen him,” explained Ted. “That was when Roxanne and I started to be concerned about it as well.”

Local 5 News caught up with Ted and Roxanne Egge to talk about their feelings and what they think may have happened to their son.

The guy that Theodore was living with did file a missing persons report on Saturday. After the report went public, Roxanne became “really concerned.”

Roxanne explained to Local 5 News that Theodore’s roommate said that Theodore’s car ran out of gas Friday. The roommate then got a call from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, who said they found Theodore’s car on the side of the road.

After Theodore ran out of gas, his parents said that he asked a resident near the location which way Athelstane was, and that resident pointed south. Theodore then proceeded on foot.

JMO I checked google maps since he asked directions to Boatlanding 7 Rd. Wonder why he was headed there, because it looks pretty sparse and the road ends at water (Boatlanding 7 Rd. goes to Boat Landing 7 - Duh now I get it!):

So was the vehicle that ran out of gas the Jeep mentioned in the OP? Would he have originally have been heading to meet some other Jeep people for trail running, etc.?

Man there's LOTS of confusing info on another FB site (local to that area) that I can't bring here (sorry). I think I can say there's more to this story, but I just can't keep track of the different facts that appear out of the middle of nowhere after you think you have most of them.

According to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a call around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 from two parties who said they found a body in a wooded area in Athelstane.

Authorities have confirmed the body to be Egge’s, who had initially been reported missing on January 13.

A man who was reported missing in January was found over the weekend deceased in the Town of Athelstane.

Officers, who had also been searching the area located and identified the body as Theodore "Teddy" Egge, who had been reported missing on January 13, 2023.

At this time, no foul play is suspected and the case remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner's Office.

Good for you on your studies (I got a doctorate in a related field and it was very rewarding career-wise). I'm guessing they stated such due to information the public doesn't have. I'm NOT saying any of these would apply in this case but generally speaking, it's not uncommon for the term "no foul play suspected" to be used if factors are involved such as drugs/alcohol/medical impairment or difficulties, mental illness, a history of going missing, and most commonly someone that is in a relatively uninhabited area or remote area of rough terrain without transportation/shelter/adequate clothing for the temperatures/conditions. All such situations could end badly without foul play being involved. Just my opinion. I am glad this family has found closure, but what a tragedy for everyone involved.
