I'm still hoping to hear from any of the locals (Aunt Vickie, Westinlund, Wenc); has Aliayah dropped out of the news entirely? What efforts are being made to keep her in folks minds? What is the mood like?

I have to admit, I came to this case late. I heard about it early in the Sky Metalwala threads and started reading. I started at Thread 1, Post 1 and it took me several weeks to get caught up, but here I am now. All of you that have been here since Day 1 and have worked tirelessly to sleuth and brainstorm scenarios are heroes to lost little ones like Aliayah. I am in awe of your skills and can only hope to contribute some day to the extent that you all have.

I am finally home and have 2 beautiful grandsons. Both moms and babes are doing great. Now I plan on spending every waking moment on our mission to find Aliayah. I have tried to keep up with all that has been said on line, and have learned there are many folks out there that do not want Aliayah found. Some I truely trusted have betrayed me. However I will not let it bother me or slow me down in my search for the truth. There is a lot happening I can not discuss on this or any other site, but trust me , a lot more is being done that what appears. We will find the truth and when we do we WILL find Aliayah. I believe this situation involves a lot more folks than just Lena and Ralph. There are several on facebook that does not want the Lunsford family looked into. I have said that Lena's side of the family has been picked over more than a thanksgiving turkey and we are no closer to finding Aliayah than we were on day 1. So I feel it is time to look at Ralph's side of the family. As I said before , that has caused a lot of trouble on FB and there has even been a lot of threats over it. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Because it's Facebook. Because common sense and rational thinking aren't entertaining there; gossip and innuendo rule. Really, neither 'side' sounds better than the other on some of the Aliayah-related FB pages. They all sound trashy and cheap. Any potential theories or helpful ideas have gotten lost in some kind of competition to see who can cram the most swear words, name-calling, and trash talk into their posts. Even those who claim to be all about finding Aliayah have gotten sucked into it. As distasteful as it is, it's also fascinating in a way to read. One of those internet 'trainwreck' moments. I can't tell you how glad I am that WS takes a stand (difficult as it is to enforce) against rumor, name-calling, and 'investigating' just any bystander that somebody feels like throwing into the mix.

And if it seems that one 'side' is being treated differently from the other, whether here or on FB or anywhere else, it's probably just because of the specific individuals speaking out at any given time.

We will find Aliayah, I do believe that with all my heart. There are a lot of things in the works to accomplish that goal. Because of all the gossip and mistrust I am not going to elaborate on what is in the works, but it will be mind boggleing soon at the outpouring of help that is finally available to us. Please keep us in your prayers, and I will post all I can.

I keep the case archive updated as oftne as possible with the scarce news that is out there.

One of the local stations is pretty dedicated and airs every small and large happening. So that gets in to the archive.

Facebook to me is a good site to get pics from the locals and families (of any archives I keep) but I stay out of the mix as much as I can.

The letter, penned by citizens, says that they're concerned for their own children's safety and want to hear more information. They claim that a lack of updates leads them to believe that a kidnapper or murderer is running free on the streets. If that is not the truth, they're questioning why a suspect hasn't been arrested. The point of the letter is that they want another press conference regarding the progress. They do say they understand that some information needs to be kept confidential but they believe that the public "needs and deserves answers."

It does beg the question of how exactly do crimes get solved anyways? Any more, it seems that perp has to make a full confession (and then later not retract it) in order for LE to have enough "evidence" to make an accusation stick.

Why do criminals have so many rights? I can name ten cases off the top of my head where I am positive that LE knows who the perp is, but haven't brought any charges.

When did the court system become so resistant (for lack of a better word) to convict?

Congrats on your new grandsons! I have three of my own and I know what a blessing it is.

I wish I could help with the facebook mess but I gave up trying to have any rational discussion there when it comes to finding Aliayah. It's like talking with a bunch of middle school kids. In my opinion, a lot of what they are doing and saying is doing more harm than good. That's just my opinion based on the parts I've read.

I agree with these letter-writers that the public needs and deserves answers, but I don't think that means that they (we) need them right this minute. After all, we want the right answers, not something to appease a public hungry for confirmation of their suspicions. As much as I'm curious to know what's going on behind the scenes, I don't want LE to tell us any more than is absolutely necessary. I don't want their investigation to be compromised just because the public can't stand the suspense. For all we know, LE has certain individuals under surveillance, or is working with one or more informants to build a case that will stick. I realize those things take time, and I can wait.

Besides, even if the FBI or local LE did hold a press conference right now, nothing they could say would satisfy those who are demanding immediate answers. They'd say something like "we are conducting a complete investigation utilitzing a number of resources and are gathering evidence, etc etc etc." Then these people would get frustrated that they really didn't learn anything new.

I do wonder if maybe this is the first experience some people have had with a person (especially a child) being missing from their area for a very long time. Maybe they think it's the norm for LE to be appearing in the media regularly during the weeks and months after a disappearance, but that's just not the case. It's not unusual for LE to keep their mouths shut altogether, or to issue only general statements that say that their investigation is ongoing.

I don't think it's so much that criminals have so many rights, but rather we all have rights. Our justice system demands that a person's guilt be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and it's vital that LE have the evidence they need before going forward.

I feel folks are either afraid of the Lunsfords or protecting them for some reason. My feeling is it involves drugs , that plus the fact that Vadis is an isolated area that the Law rarely visits and is said by many to be ruled by the Lunsfords and has been since moon shining days. It is said a person could disapear in Vadis and never be found or missed for years if ever. I do know that if you want to cause a rucus on face book , just mention the Lunsfords and all hell breaks loose. I really think the bottom line is supply and demand.
