Did we ever find out if the local landfill was searched?

Here are some factual questions. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!

1. Tracking dogs traced AL's scent to river on Day 2 (IIRC). Seems the most logical that THIS is where she is. So, what is the name of the river that is closest to the Lunsford house?

2. When was it searched? By who? And to what degree?

3. Someone recently suggested other waterways should be or have been searched. Does this make sense if dogs tracked her to the nearest one? (Not being facetious here. I want to hear your opinions of why we should search others.)

4. What options (this is one is gruesome) are there to hide a body permanently in a river? And, based on past cases, in ways are those bodies found?

5. For the locals, is the current in this river a strong one? How deep or shallow is the river? For instance, could it waded into or is deep at the river banks?

6. I still haven't heard any mention in MSM about the other members of the household being questioned regarding AL's disappearance. Certainly one of them heard or saw something. Considering that both children who were present in the Lisa Irwin house underwent extensive questioning, I don't see a logical reason that these children can't be questioned also. Any thoughts?

7. To me, it doesn't matter what Lena Lunsford is doing today or yesterday. I don't care if she went to a bar or the grocery store. She clearly isn't going to lead LE or anyone else to any useful information. If LE doesn't think she is worthy of questioning continuously they know that she either knows nothing or will never tell if she did.

Let's put our heads together and brainstorm questions and answers that we are overlooking! Start with the most basic information we had from the beginning and work through to what we know today.

Thanks for listening!

This is a good question. I think the answer is No, but I can't be sure.

What is the name of the landfill used for this area? How far away is it from the Lunsford home?

Do the Lunsfords have trash service at their home? This questions seems odd, but in many parts of country, people think that trash service is too costly and therefore haul all of their trash to a landfill or to a dump site. It costs much less, sometimes 10.00 a month versus 70.00 a month. Does this area use designated trash cans or can the trash be put out in bags or trash cans of your choice?

(This is all very detailed and I apologize if you think I am being tedious. I promise that I have good intentions.)

It has been searched along with many other places.

JeannieC, can you elaborate on this at all? When was it searched and how? Did they find anything at all of value?

I recall that the house at Vadis was also searched; it belongs to a family member of Ralph Lunsford. Wait, I don't think it was a house that searched but the property or the woods. I do believe that this search was because of a tip that LE received.

I can only offer opinions on a few of these and have also snipped for length:

3. Someone recently suggested other waterways should be or have been searched. Does this make sense if dogs tracked her to the nearest one? (Not being facetious here. I want to hear your opinions of why we should search others.)

I think that waterways to which a scent has not been traced are often searched in cases like this because they're a common disposal site or hiding place for a body or evidence. LE will sometimes search a river or pond or lake just as they would search nearby woods or fields even if a scent doesn't lead them there. I remember that they also searched a pond near a business early on.

I'm sure the other children have been questioned, probably very early on and since. We just haven't heard about it. Since they're minors, LE's not likely to talk about those details, not that they're really giving any details at all.

I agree; I have no interest in Lena's day-to-day activities and I think it's weird to even pay attention to that. I don't know if she had anything to do with Aliayah's disappearance and I don't know if LE thinks she did. In all of the anti-Lena tirades I've read here, there, and everywhere, I have yet to see a single thing that tells me she's guilty. I can tell people hate her and look down on her, but that's about it. Makes me wonder if the real answers are in plain sight but no one can see them because they've got tunnel vision when it comes to Lena. Time will tell, and she may be guilty, but she also may not be.

I think that Lena's action show a great deal about her character. I don't think they prove she is 100% guilty. RL may be 100% guilty or there may another person entirely (thinking of a drug debt here).

Typically in these kinds of cases, one or both parents will stay in the media spotlight and even appear on major news programs like Today or Good Morning America.

I think it is clear that neither of the Lunsfords will do this. In fact, when questioned early on by local reporters, she stated (paraphrased here) "Let me get on with my life."

That comment I think is that one makes me want to scrutinize her further. I have seen parents of missing children say out loud this (usually after a few years have gone by) or mean something like it by their actions, such as selling their house and moving to another state.

I just attribute Lena's actions and comments to her not being the sharpest knife in the drawer. Her arrest for the benefits fraud confirmed that for me; that's a dumb move anyway, but to do it when you know LE is in the middle of an investigation involving your family? She doesn't do or say the most intelligent things, period.

Also, given her history with LE and the criminal justice system, I wouldn't expect her to act like parents of other missing children. I can see her not wanting to be front and center, especially with the benefits thing already going on at that point. People who are doing illegal things like to lay low; they don't want attention drawn to themselves and their activities.

So while I think the way she has responded to Aliayah's disappearance is peculiar when I compare it to how most (not all) other parents of missing children act, I don't see it as peculiar for her.

I agree with what you said in the bolded text.

But I feel Lena knows what happened to Aliayah. Hopefully one day her conscious will evolve to the point she tells the truth.

THIS is interesting.

While reading through Thread #2, it is mentioned several times that dogs traced AL's scent to the river and would place that scent to be 3-7 days old.

Dogs were brought in 3 days after disappearance if I recall correctly.

LL said that Aliayah had never been to the river and wouldn't go alone.

A VOICE IS SCREAMING IN MY HEAD- THIS IS IT!

The river has been nagging at me for the past two days. Why in the world would Aliayah wake up after a night of supposedly being ill and make a bee line to the river alone?

She wouldn't.

So, in my head all of these other scenarios about being stolen for her own good, or taken for a drug debt, or sold, or taken by an RSO, have been ruled out. Someone carried her to the river. Now the question is, who.

Thank you for the video. SO heartbreaking and at the same time grateful that all those people helped.

Now going back to day 1, why did Lena drive around for 2 hours? I doubt she was disposing of a body or dogs would have picked up a scent from the car. Was she looking for Aliayah dead or alive? Did she know that Ralph or someone disposed of her, or Did she maybe suspect Ralph took her? Where did she go looking?.....

I thought about that too. I only have one explanation. And that explanation would be based off the assumption that Ralph and /or Lena disposed of Aliayah's body. (also assuming that they caused her death in some way)
If one of them put Aliayah in the river that morning, say, before Ralph went to work or shortly after, then Lena may have been thinking if she called 911 right away and LE went down to the river, they would see Aliayah. So she may have wanted to stall for time, hoping (and it hurts to write this) that Aliayah's body would be washed down the river by the time anyone started to look for her. Hence, the driving around for over 2 hours "looking" for Aliayah. Maybe she felt that by then the baby would be far enough away from the house, or under water so they either wouldn't find her or she would be out of Lena's "neighborhood"

This was never mentioned by LE and it's been so long I can't remember if this was disproved or not; Aliayah was said to have been somewhere the night before she disappeared. She messed her pants and had to be brought home.

At the time it occurred to me that maybe someone was angry about the messing in her pants and took her to the river to clean her up. Farfetched? Perhaps, but then again LE states Aliayah was abused. Could putting a sick child in cold water contribute to her death later in the night or early morning?

The river and other waterways were searched extensively early on. If she was in the water, I think she would have been found then.

I don't think there are alligators in WV. But, I'm not an expert on wildlife for sure!

  • #158
Good point about her body washing away. Surely, LE would know how to adjust for time and current right?

There is not one single part of me that believes that the two hour drive was a search for her daughter. Neighbors have verified that there was no one outside the home actively calling or searching for her.

Maybe the drive was to take someone away. Get rid of evidence. Clear her head to think of her next move. Call the police or not?
