Just watched the all three segments of the PC (thank you Westinlund).

Was it just me, or did anyone else notice Killeen's demeanor in regards to Aunt Vickki?

Judges can and do put gag orders on "open" cases, but in AL's disappearance the problem is that there is no "case." Theoretically, there could be a gag order on LL's welfare case (though I have no idea why there would be), but a judge can only place a gag order on parties and attorneys under their jurisdiction... and here no judge has "jurisdiction" over AL's "case." (As an aside, random family members could never be subject to a gag order for the same reason: they are not parties to a case.)

Similarly, a judge has no authority to stop the media from commenting on a particular case, so a judge-issued gag order in the US can never apply to the media writ large (contra "super-injunctions" in the UK). Statutes purporting to prevent the media from reporting on particular subjects are typically struck down as unconstitutional on 1st amendment grounds, but "freedom of the press" doesn't affect the ability of a judge to issue a gag order on court participants... it just means that if the press reports comments made in violation of a gag order, nothing can happen to the reporter directly (just the order-bound party).

Thank you very much, SeaEclipse!!! Just when you think you know lots, you learn that there is still SO much to learn! ----I appreciate you taking the time to explain it further for me-and especially for not charging me :floorlaugh:!! Now if you could just help me with consensus paradigm views I could go to bed early!!

I hope that with the $20,000.00 reward out there, that someone is dialing the phone with the tip that will solve this case!!

WESTON -- The FBI announced Thursday that it is offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of Aliayah Lunsford, 3.
"As soon as you'd see her she'd steal your heart," Great Uncle Jesse Prunty said. "She was loving, caring, not a mischievous bone in her. She just loved to play, play with her brother. She enjoyed it."

awwww....see, that's the kind of stories I'd like to hear more about from the family.

I guess what I am getting at; The great aunt surely knows Lena has "issues". But she is getting her info from her sister, who she appears to be very worried about. Is it naive on the aunt's part to believe her Joann? Perhaps. But I don't believe there was any malicious intent on her part.

I agree there is likely no maliciousness on the part of AV.

Here's the problem: Aliayah has been missing for over 5 weeks(?).

Her "family" finally steps out to "chat" about it, not answer any serious questions (of which I have all copies of before they were deleted :)). Neither uncles, nor AV, claim to know Aliayah, or LL very well at all. They couldn't answer basic questions about her. So why are they parading around the internet in unhelpful arenas? Why is AV, JUST NOW, all these weeks later, taking an interest in her great niece? IMO

I read the statement from her, and I'm grateful she did it, however now she can stop her "Q&A's" on FB, and begin helping search for Aliayah, all these weeks later. Yet, on her statement, she acknowledges that she is going to post on various FB walls- and answer any and all questions stemming from it. Why? Isn't the statement enough? Who cares what people think of her statement? Keep moving forward and getting the word out there. IMO

IMO I still believe that someone, someone in that family, extended and all, knows that LL was capable of hurting her child and is hopefully sharing all they know with LE now. IMO

To those who were not involved in the Q&A, don't assume you know what questions were asked. They were direct, but not vicious. What you should be wondering is, why were they all deleted instead of answered by the family?

It's so exasperating. A child goes missing and not one relation reaches out to find her. Likely, if she were kidnapped, it's too late. :(

I just can't imagine.

Watching the press conference... sigh. Part one around 5m- ruled out an abduction. Around 6m, it is asked that if anyone has information to what might have happened to this child, come forward.

I've never believed that LE/FBI in this case or any other is going to wait to arrest a pregnant woman until she gives birth if they have enough on her to make their case stick. They're just not going to do that. And I'd have a really really low opinion of them if they did. But that's not how it works. If you've got a solid case, you arrest the woman. The only thing I believe right now (and which it appears LE has even stated) is that they are still working on building a case. It's similar to a lot of comments that were flying around online in the Celina Cass case; a lot of folks thought LE was just waiting around to arrest one of the family member until he got out of a medical facility. It didn't happen. No arrest. Same thing here... LE will make an arrest when they're ready to make an arrest, and the timing of that has nothing to do with a woman's due date.

As far as Facebook drama goes... it's probably clear that I don't have a high opinion of the role FB has come to play in these cases. If I were advising any family in this kind of situation, I'd tell them to make sure to be visible enough so that people keep talking about the case on FB (to keep the story front & center), but not to go there themselves. Kind of like encouraging them to do an interview with the local newspaper but not with the Enquirer.

Edited to add this about the 'gag order': I didn't believe there ever was a gag order on the media. I think they were told at the very beginning, when there were organized searches involving volunteers meeting at a central place, to keep their distance and not interfere or distract the organizers & searchers by trying to get interviews there. But a gag order? It never made sense. LE tells their own people not to talk to the press; they don't tell the press they can't talk to anybody. And any halfway decent journalist would know that and just keep doing their job. IMO, the local media in this case has not done well at all.

I agree with you on all 3 counts. I did an interview with WBOY while they were still searching, but it was out of the way and at my home. They were probably just told not to interrupt the searchers and let them search.

I also read somewhere about the differences in federal and state cases by a criminal defense lawyer. One of the points they made was that if a case could be tried on either the state or federal level, the federal people would let it go to the state unless they were sure they could get a conviction. Which is what I get out of Killeen's comments - they have a lot of evidence but they want more to make a good solid case. When they get that evidence, then they will make an arrest pregnant or not. It would not be the first baby born in prison. I really do not think they are afraid of a lawsuit.

And a BIG Thank You to Westinlund for those videos of the press conference. It was so good to get the whole conference and not just the snippets that the news stations posted!!

I noticed that Knox, he gave her a look-and it wasn't a "come hither" look, either. I don't even want to imagine what the "family" has put these people through. I was shocked to hear her question, and even more shocked at his "look".

I watched the entire press conference last night, and tons of videos before I went to bed. I also read Aunt Vickie's statement on FB. I really am beginning to feel badly for these people. And although they are "distant" relatives, they probably know as much about little Aliayah as we do. I don't mean that in a derogatory way, either. While they, like all of us, want Aliayah home and felt the need to step up and do something-they just don't know WHAT or HOW to do it. And while we all know that our families aren't "perfect" I am pretty sure they were served a dose of reality yesterday. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt, and I pray that they from this morning on, don't look for ANYONE inside that family for information.

In cases like Alayah's credibility is all a person has. Once that is gone, NOONE will believe a word they say. They have to be very careful not to lose the support of those who are behind them. They also just need to know its ok to say-I DON'T KNOW!!

I am praying today for everyone that loves Aliayah-and hoping that the reward will bring the answers needed to bring Aliayah home.

Good morning WS!

We have been tearing up the wires last night, discussing having a peaceful "demonstration" outside of 49 Dennison St. We want to use signs such as "Help Find Aliayah" and "Tell us Aliayah's Story". Several people are researching the legalities and resources needed to get it done. There are a lot of people here in the community that feel that we have been sitting on our asses way too long.

Thanks so much for posting the entire press conference! I know it takes time-but it was SO nice seeing all of it!!

Great idea --but be very veryyyyyyyyyyyy careful. -Could I suggest about a 5:30 am wakeup call---?:floorlaugh: (they would love that I'm sure)
And while your there--do ME a huge favor-ask RL why he quit his job the day Aliayah went missing-cause he sure hasn't been hitting the pavement searching for her :(.

Sounds like a terrific idea as long as everything is law-abiding, peaceful, etc, etc (and I'm sure it would not be otherwise). After watching the tape from yesterday's press conference, I'm torn between sympathy (although frankly, not a whole lot of that) and outright rage that Aliayah's tragedy is being viewed by some as an opportunity for self-promotion:maddening::furious: Tomorrow will be six weeks that I first became aware of Aliayah, and pretty much all of what I've learned since then has only confirmed to me the tragedy of her life situation. If I were any closer to Lewis County you bet your bippy I'd be on Dennison Street!!!!!!

RL doesn't play well with others, so staying home is his only option.

I think a peaceful demonstration is a fantastic idea. Asking for Aliayah's story is even more fantastic- I think knowing more about her life will help solve what happened to her! Shake the bushes until someone speaks.

OMG whoever built this site did an AWESOME job. I love it!!! I wish they would created one for every missing childs case!!!! Love it!!!

ACandyRose is a long-time member of WS and she does a fabulous job archiving cases. Every detail, and the links to back it up. Meticulous researcher.
I cannot give her enough praise.

Here's the main page with many cases:
