I read where the FBI wanted that kept secret because it was one of the few things that only the abductor knows other than the girl (and the hunters, and the hunters' kids, and the mother). I really don't see the point in keeping it a secret.

There was a reason why and I respect LE's reasoning, even if I don't know what the specifics of it are. It could be that they wanted to keep it a secret in case of similar acts in other crimes. It could easily tie him to other crime scenes.

I feel as though she convinced him somehow, or did something, or perhaps he was spooked by someone. I would think now that they have the guy, this would be valuable public information.

I'm not sold on the idea that he let this girl go, I think she escaped.

It'll be interesting to see if there are any other cases.

Oh my... I seem to be caught up on a possible "trigger" -
If you go to Google and type in "Jesse Speer wedding", the second item takes you to a registry for a wedding October 1, 2011 . The name of Jesse Speer and "------" are listed, the girl listed is the same one as on a number of the blogs (including blog from post #478 of this thread). It doesn't seem that this wedding took place..October could be a trigger. The girl is also a photographer....just wondering.....

It was when she was resqued she mentioned it to the hunters thank God she got away from him I hope they get the DNA from the Bloody nose he got when she kicked him. Brave little girl .

Personally, I can't see the value in us knowing that, other than to satisfy our nosiness (meant in the nicest possible way). The charge, prosecution, trial and hopefully conviction would not benefit from us knowing the nitty gritty, and their priority is to ensure this bloke never gets the opportunity to touch another kiddie again.

I posted a question earlier, but no one responded. Just in case it's been overlooked.....

Can anyone guess why LE will not release HOW the girl from WY got away? I would think that would be valuable information for the public to know how someone was successful to get away from her abductor.

If this amazing child, who was abducted in Wyoming, managed to kick him in the nose when he was trying to force her into the Thule carrier, and then he dumped the carrier, which was latter recovered as evidence, I would think maybe that little fact would be kept from the public because it would be critical at trial.

The reason I think it's valuable is for safety and protection training. This girl may have done something or said something that could be repeated if another girl is abducted. Obviously he let her go and LE doesn't want us to know why. Frankly, I'd like to know that, not for "nosiness" but just in case I or my kids ever need the "tip". I can understand them wanting to keep it secret until they catch the guy, or maybe even until after he's prosecuted, since he's the only one who knew this information (besides the hunters). But hopefully we'll someday be told.....

This guy was trying to appear normal and show off his photographs just days after raping an innocent little girl by showing a gun. He was warned as being armed and dangerous by police. He approached three little girls with a story of a lost puppy and ended up snatching one of them. WTH? He is dangerous. JMO

Such beautiful pictures. Taken. Such a beautiful child. Taken. His photo's of the spirit, breath, soul, are exquisite. Such a sick thrill ride is what I see now. The abandoned cabins , the stark trees, the stark contrasts that when I look at them now show me, in MOO, what a heartless, soulless person he is. I dabble in photography, but nothing of this caliber. Knowing what I know now, I am haunted. Shuddering to think what happened in those old cabins, so near to where I travel and play.
Oh little girl, you are a bittersweet now, so lucky to be alive, but so traumatized, I hope and pray you can find the help you are going to need to not self destruct in years to come. It's not your fault....

Apparently he was arrested in MT after somebody recognized him from the sketch. He's in the Gallatin County jail in Bozeman MT.

edited to add: the article doesn't actually say somebody recognized him. I thought it did. I corrected my post. I'm sure I read Belgrade somewhere but can't find it.

Someone mentioned Lindsay Baum ... she disappeared around the same time he was getting divorced. I don't think I'm allowed to say how I figured that out, though.

I assume he is using high end digital cameras, most digital cameras have GeoTagging built in. All of the images in his camera may be geotagged, and if so LE can use that forensic evidence to track his movements. LE can establish dates and times of his whereabouts and correlate that with known criminal activity (abductions, rapes, murders) in those areas.

LE is going to have to reconstruct the last 10 years of his landscape photography career as he has traveled extensively throughout the multi-state region for a decade. Then they will have to tie in this vast collection of child he has, and try to connect those specific images to known victims in those areas. They have their work cut out for them with this suspect.

While I am on the subject, I think its (highly) likely he supplemented his income as a landscape photographer selling his 'special' images of his child victims to the underground pedophilia network.

I read in one of his interviews that he'd decided to switch to B&W only, and digital only. I'm glad for that, because then they can get straight to those images and not have to wait for film to process. And they'll get all that info, dates/times, hopefully GeoTags... thank goodness for technology.:rocker:

In that photo's properties on G+, it is recorded as "2011_1008_125115.jpg".

His other photos are named in a similar date-coded fashion, suggesting this photo was taken on 8th October 2011.

As such, I don't believe there is any reason to suggest he was necessarily near Teton National Park in recent times.

Oh yeah, so I noticed that on his FB page, too... that he'd announce he was "taking a break" and then when he comes back and starts posting images, the images he's posting are sometimes up to 6 years old. It's misleading because he keeps making references to taking breaks and explaining that he needs time to work on his art, etc. It's like he's posting great looking photos from an old stash to make up for his lack of recent work.

I wonder why there seems to be a lull in his work for the past year?
