A nanny accused of brutally stabbing two children to death in the bathtub of their luxurious Manhattan home returned to court today after being ruled fit to stand trial for murder.​

Yoselyn Ortega, 50, wore her dark hair tied back in a braid for the brief hearing at Manhattan Supreme Court and her self-inflicted stab wound on her neck was clearly visible.​

The scar shows where the nanny attempted to slit her own throat on October 25 after Marina Krim came home to her Upper West Side apartment to find her daughter Lucia, six, and her son, Leo, two, dead in a pool of blood in the bath.

The short appearance comes after Ortega was examined by two mental health professionals, both of whom found that she could assist in her defense in a meaningful way and that she was mentally fit to proceed to her trial. Her lawyer is challenging those results.

Last month, Ortega claimed someone else killed the children she's accused of stabbing all over their bodies in the Krims home.​

'I didn't do that,' the nanny insisted in jailhouse interview with New York Daily News.

'Someone else did.'
Ortega did not say who else could be responsible for murdering the children.

i doubt if the Krims knew how sick she was.

The Krims had a stunning dog...yes a grayhound. very peaceful, never heard him bark.
I dont think they knew at all that she is nuts, otherwise they would not have offered her additional hours of work,
Originally, YO said she was mad that she wanted a raise, and they gave her additional hours, now she sais she did not do it someone else did.
WELL...I sw her with the kids 1/2 before .... Mom must have been on her way back home looking for the kids when YO did not meet her at the designated place.

IMHO YO must have always medicated... That is why the Krims never saw anything...
untill she must have stoped taking her meds.
She could not just wake up after being OK as a murderer....
you have to have issues, that are hidden behind meds.

Her eyes narrowed when asked if she loved the children. Well, obviously she didn't. I can't think of anyone who loves a child that would be willing to stab the child to death. Have we heard how many stab wounds each child had? I can't remember, but I am willing to bet each child had several and they were deep. She did this in a fit of rage at Marina.

She did not look anything like the former photo in the elevator that horibal day of the murder. I personally never saw her look as good as the first photo you all saw.
NO, she looked like the person you now see, with more weight on her - with teeth - and most often with a pony tall.

I dont know if I would call these people helpless, but I sure would call them naive and trusting. I think they were shocked to the core of thier being.

Sure is very strange.
I kind of heard the layout of the scene a bit different.

This is despite the fact that she was seen as friendly and outgoing. That is what Ortega wanted to be seen as. The real Yoselyn Ortega is a paranoid, envious, and resentful person. Ortega grew resentful she had to do more duties with same amount of pay. She is highly rigid in thinking and mindset.

It is unlikely Ortega snapped or planned suicide. She wanted to be seen as a hero, so she can get money and end her financial woes.

As I have proposed in prior posts, there is a close correlation between antisocial behavior and pathological narcissism. So much so that I have previously employed the term psychopathic narcissism to describe such selfish and unscrupulous individuals. Defendants like Casey Anthony (now acquitted), Joran van der Sloot (now convicted), and Jodi Arias (now convicted) typically tend to be so detached and dissociated from their own humanity that they are clueless as to what they really feel and how their inappropriate and selfish behavior is perceived by others. They appear to be heartless, depraved monsters devoid of all human caring and decency. Bad seeds. But behind their extremely effective facade, mask or persona, hides a hurt and angry little girl or boy running destructively amok in the world. Sociopaths are, as I have elsewhere argued, primarily made, not born.

Does this mean that patients suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder are evil? Not typically. But what I can say is that, in my experience, antisocial, narcissistic and borderline personality disorders do share something basic in common: a core of repressed anger and narcissistic rage. Individuals with these diagnoses, which frequently co-exist, have been deeply and consistently wounded during childhood in some way, and harbor tremendous and commonly unconscious resentment, anger and rage about this mistreatment as well as a profound dread of rejection or abandonment. According to the testimony of Ms. Arias, both her parents were regularly physically and emotionally abusive to her as a child, though this is still unconfirmed. When, in adulthood, rejection or abandonment does actually happen, which appears precisely to be what transpired between Alexander and Arias, this chronically repressed rage can be triggered, sometimes with terrifying, terrible and tragic results.

However, much more so than in borderline personality disorder, a sense of "narcissistic entitlement" is characteristic of both narcissistic and antisocial personality disorder. And both share in common a distinct lack of empathy with their fellow man, being unwilling or unable to feel compassion toward, nor identify with, the emotions and needs of others. Such grossly inhumane attitudes and behaviors stem mainly from a combination of compensatory grandiosity and a schizoid-like detachment from their own feelings. The primary difference between narcissistic and antisocial personality disorder is one of degree, differentiated largely by the relative strength or weakness of what Freud called superego, as well as by the severity, type or intensity of past narcissistic wounding. The boundary between these two personality disorders is blurry, and sometimes indistinguishable. Psychoanalyst Otto Kernberg (1992) describes certain destructively aggressive, antisocial patients as suffering from "malignant narcissism," which is akin to what I am here calling "psychopathic narcissism," a toxic cocktail of borderline, narcissistic and antisocial traits. Such severe characterological disturbance typically underlies and drives the destructive behavior we traditionally refer to as "evil."

I never saw her as friendly and outgoing, at best she had a poker face, at worst she looked at the floor. that last day she gave me a half smile as she exited the elevator, the first 1/2 smile I saw from her, and that is my report about her.That is what Ortega wanted to be seen as. Thank you for your post. I think for the most part it is SPOT ON... She was a monster with Mental Illness in my book too....but I marked in red what I found not to be correct. I actually told all that to the reporters / detectives. I had seen her in the elevator and the lobby enough times, never friendly never outgoing, never warm, never, sweet. like some of the nannys in the building.
I also read from some of the neighbors in her own building that she acted off balance so this assessment above saying friendly and social is way way off the mark in my opinion.
Maybe she was more smily around people of her coulture, but she was never a friendly and outgoing in my book, no way. NOP!
