That would explain better, why she had felt comfortable enough with him to go to the room? Maybe he had not made any moves towards her during that time...

I wonder if maybe he had convinced her to either gamble away her winnings or maybe borrowed from her and then when she/he lost the money he told her he had more money in his room and got her to come back with him "so he could get her more money"? That wouldn't explain why she stayed for so long...
