Couple of random thoughts that are pure speculation by me:
1) There is some pretty hardcore anti-radical-Islam stuff on her Pinterest board. What are the odds of someone tracking her down from social media and trying to make her pay for that? (One would think that someone who had lived in CA...
Unrelated to the case but kinda shocked anyone would call 34 "middle aged"?
I don't think we can assume paycheck to paycheck. Jobs held are only a small part of an overall financial picture.
IMO they still have plenty of use for that money. Guessing Best Buy's health plan isn't gonna come close to the therapy she's gonna need. Plus childcare that she used to provide, but probably isn't going to want to be alone for awile.
People think (in any criminal case) that it is harmless to speculate that the husband did it, or that she faked it. It's not. The Internet makes the world a very small place. When people do this, they are adding pain to the lives of people who are already living a nightmare.

As many have said, there are lots of people who text their spouses knowing that they may or may not answer, or will answer when work circumstances are appropriate.
"Partially wrapped" can mean lots of things and I don't think it necessarily means anything. Maybe the gift was in a bag but she...
Their anniversary was coming up. Also, someone has repeatedly asked if he called her before using find my iphone and the people magazine article says he did try texting her.
