http://www.doccs.ny.gov/Directives/4911.pdf Inmates at any facility are allowed one musical instrument with case. It's prison, not hell.

Thank you for that ^^^ I wasn't being rude, I was just confused. I also lost my grandmother to a homicide and did not know such an organization (or term) existed.

The catwalk is the area behind the cells where pipes, electricity, etc., are contained. When cells face "out" (as opposed to facing each other) so the catwalk is between two galleries (rows) of cells facing in opposite directions. In other words, one catwalk would, in such case, give you...

Um...not to sound unsympathetic, but how are you a homicide survivor? And people should realize that Clinton is a maximum security prison meant to house murderers, not petty thieves or drug addicts. Prisons don't afford privileges based on crime of conviction, nor could they.

Why everyone gets worked up about the "two convicted murderer" thing is beyond me. That's who fills maximum security prisons, particularly Clinton: convicted murderers. She didn't "have their cells moved" as only movement and control can do that; she probably just put a word in for them which...

Moving cells is no big deal. It happens all the time when a cell in back opens up, the guys with juice or seniority make their pitch for it. Ditto for the meat...civilians look out for inmates who make their jobs easier. How she got hacksaw blades in is another story.

They've had no escapes from there ever. Period. And if killers can't be in honor block, who then? Clinton is mostly convicts who have killed, raped, or committed violent felonies. Honor block is a correction tool for long term inmates. It's not any easier to get out of honor block than any...

That certainly seems plausible, especially in honor block. When a cell opens up through transfer or disciplinary (i.e., inmate gets kicked out of honor block), they will routinely let a "senior" inmate have choice of the cell.

There are always inmates on the hustle who get some latitude. Sometimes, raw meat is "smuggled" from the mess hall (i.e., a guard looks the other way) and it's possible that's how hacksaw blades, etc., got in. But I can't imagine anyone serving time at Clinton calling it "lax."

Trust me, it is not. No one "requests" to be transferred to Clinton. It is one of those places guards threaten to have you transferred to. I've heard the phrase "pack your ski boots" on numerous occasions, and no prisoner responded kindly. Probably considered the top 3 worst max general...

Quite frankly because I was Central Callout Clerk (computer operator) while at Wende Correctional Facility from 1994-2001 serving 15 to life for cocaine possession. I was released in 2003 and have worked at a criminal defense law office since. I am in frequent contact with inmates at all DOCCS...

I heard that report and the suggestion that they had internet is absolutely ridiculous. At best, they would have a 10-15 year old machine with a word processor (probably lotus) and some kind of inventory program (Excel?). Other than that the computer would be completely worthless to any inmate...

Honor Block is the least of their worries. They'll both be sent to different prisons where they can expect a minimum of five years in SHU, with state-only meals, and one hour of "rec" (per day) in an outdoor cage about the size of their cell.

$100k cash means just that. $200k bond means you have to pay a bondsman to post bail (it's a statutory rate in NY amounts to about $15k...but that's the "fee" and it doesn't get returned. And the bondsman can require whatever security he wishes).
