I would imagine that the black SUV would be the more likely vehicle involved. If I was going to commit a crime I would pick a standard black SUV over a stand out red or orange sports car.

Could be that there is a webcam or security camera somewhere and these 3 vehicles were going past at around the time of the murders and just after?

I think they may have a semi strong/reasonable circumstantial case against a POI and this reward is to get a witness/whistleblower to go along with what they already have so they can possibly find the body/or William if alive and take it to trial. Just a theory.
