No, it ends at Evandsale northwise, or goes down to Cedar Rapids southwise. There's a bike path in town too, but it doesn't go outside the city limit

The river doesn't flow that direction, nor does it go through Evansdale anyhow. Evansdale and Meyers Lake are on the Cedar

The lake they swam at is in George Wyth State Park

This theory does not jive with the lawn guy's tip, or the TG bike sighting, but neither are confirmed, and are dismissed by some of us sleuthers in our theories. It does jive with certain info that was on here for a bit but got hacked by a mod, it looks like. Such info is also unconfirmed...

It is. Actually the lake trail is part of Evansdale Nature Trail. The whole Waterloo/Cedar Falls/Evansdale area is full of these types of bike trails. They are variously just the sidewalks by roads or paved sections away from the roads. Its possible that they were seen on film up at those...

A lot of people have said a lot of things about cameras, minutes, and cyclists. All of it can't be true. I was just answering someone's question which was, "could they ride a mile in 8 minutes?" So if we think TG's sighting is out, the girls were on camera at 12:19, and the distance was 1.5...

Actually I couldn't get it - they've already got the August 27 issue on the shelves. Yes, we now live in a world where the August 20 issue of a magazine is obsolete on August 16. We had a ridiculous heatwave here in July. Day after day in the 100 degree range. Even if that day was only 80...

Like "hot morning"... I feel like that was the coolest temp day in all of July... but who knows... On another note, I'm off to the store to buy People magazine for the first time ever.

But the average cyclist would be riding well under 8:00/mile. I think anyone with a pulse can ride a mile in 8 minutes. For some its easier than others, sure. But I believe even our girls could do it if they weren't dillydallying.

No, it isn't hard to ride a bike a mile in 8 minutes! I think anybody could do it. That quote has always gotten me. I ran track back in the good old days so running paces are drilled into my head, you might say LOL. Add a bike to the equation and 8 minutes for a mile should be a cinch, even for...

Thats against the rules? I think I've seen plenty of people do what I just did. Be like, hey guys, the scanner thread might be interesting to read right now and link to it. I purposely didn't go into specifics. Anyone not registered wont be able to follow that link. I know because I was an...

Other bikes are a definite possibility. I point you in the direction of this scanner thread post, from a rewind to the July 13 feed: Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community I must say though, I have trouble with the idea that the girls would leave a purse behind willingly. Its location has to be a...

I'm also very interested in the kid that was fishing, and what he did or didn't see. I wish we could get a start and end time on his outing. As for where he was fishing, he was probably on the north side of the lake near the parking lot. That's the standard place to put in a line at Meyers...

Something else re: paddleboat stealing and/or teenagers and human trafficking. Would traffickers have teenage accomplices? Either local gang members / troubled kids who they groom to trust them, or else trafficked kids they captured years back and are resigned to the life? Teens who earn money...

I'm loving WS coz I could never keep it all together myself! Thanks everyone for the info on the paddleboat! Very interesting about the stolen/borrowed paddleboat. I wish we could confirm or deny that. It seems unlikely (though not impossible) that the two would be totally unrelated, if both...

Was there anything in the early news relating to the paddleboater besides the fact that LE wanted to talk to him? I came into this case in the middle of a great big argument over whether it should be called a paddle or a pedal boat :D so that's all I know about it. Was there someone who came...
