I just want to add that MOM is one of the best - ethical, reputable, etc (that's per NeJame and per Hornsby)

We can assume the court knows this ...

MOM's not going to throw a career''s worth of excellent reputation away on GZ. He probably already has called the judge...

JMHO

I wonder if he will withdraw? If I was him how could you continue to work for and with someone in this type of high level case that you can't trust what they say. Obviously, GZ did not care if it would cause MOM a problem. And, it's really gotta make MOM started thinking what else has he lied to me about?

Weren't all the experts in the FCA case for the defense paid by the state b/c she was declared indigent ? And didn't Baez claim that that was where the 200,000 went to ?
I actually believe it went to Baez's new suit a day during the trial, but that's just me :D

After Baez said the defense had run out of money and had to declare her indigent, then everything was covered by the state at the rate they they would pay their experts. The same with him, after she was declared indigent, then he was only entitled to receive the same amount the state would pay a public defender.

ah, I see what you mean. LOL.

he's a lawyer, and by definition, not a saint.

I'm comparing him only to ... well ... we've seen worse.

now for the important question: which is slicker? snot or owl****?

Not all lawyers are slimy. :oddsmiley:

My last thought for the evening:
I hope Trayvon can feel how much so many people care. So many people are trying so hard to make certain that all things come to light. I hope it brings his spirit joy.

If I were O'Mara, I'd drag Zimmerman's a$$ all the way back to the courtroom tomorrow so he could be there to answer any questions the judge might have. O'Mara can play stupid about this all he wants but there's been plenty of interviews and articles that have stated otherwise. He knows exactly what he's doing and will probably glide right through it. Just as I said a day or 2 ago, it's going to take Zimmerman no time to go rogue on this lawyer too. If he doesn't like the way things are going for him, he will take the matter into his own hands which there again is the reason why Trayvon is lying dead at Zimmerman's hand tonight.

Why would the attorney have to be on the hook for all the legal help, PI's, admin support, phone bills, etc, etc.? he may provide his services for free but should he have to pay his staff and contractors too?

Ridiculous in the sense that the term "pro bono" seems misleading to me then. Never thought of "other" expenses... The attorney can then double his fee for everything from faxes to mileage and make it all back!

While George was in his jail cell, he had access to a phone, and to visitors, and to his attorney and he could have told his wife, his brother, his sisters, his mother and father, his new attorney, his pal Francis B Taaffe, any number of people who he trusted to check on the website for him. To check the Pay Pal donations.

He SHOULD have told his attorney who he knew was preparing for a bond hearing for him.

There is something wrong with George, IMO.

Yea, he's a liar and an admitted killer who wants to get away with it.

I'm not convinced that O'Mara didn't know - or didn't want to know. IYKWIM

I hope so too ! going to bed myself so I can be up for 9am ! I hope I can sleep.... although the thought of O'Mara and GZ :panic: tonight might make me sleep a little better .... :offtobed: See ya tomorrow :D

other than that, he's for civil liberties. Course, you might be dead or insane from the torture you suffered but no biggie. He's really not "liberal". He can't handle any criticism of Israel. He is very slectively for the liberties of those he agrees with and with various and sundry criminals. he likes juicy, high profile celebrity cases where he gets on TV a lot. OJ, Claus von Bulow, those kinds of things, hardly a toiler in the fields of the downtrodden.

B and snipped BM: You forgot the most downtrodden of the downtrodden, Leona Helsmley. :floorlaugh:

G'night UVA. I'm heading that way soon myself, sure do not want to oversleep and miss the potential fireworks tomorrow.

Not the first time he claims he didn't know about something major. He didn't know that Trayvon's parents didn't want an apology. The rest of us knew, but somehow MOM missed that.

And...if you believe MOM, the apology was sincere and had nothing to do with the Bond hearing.

I don't believe anything he says, MOO. I really hope they don't get away with this, there has been enough injustice in this case already.

I'm out as well. I'm trusting you'll all have this figure out by morning. Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow so I'll only be able to catch the first 30 minutes or so of the hearing. :( Take good notes!

Night, good peeps! :seeya:

Actually Suzi, think back to the early days of Somer's disappearance. There were a lot of people who were blaming Diena for what happened. Same thing with Mark Lunsford. The worst case I've ever witnessed was Steve Groene and the way he was treated. It was absolutely appalling. So I guess there are always going to be people who do things like this and I agree with you very much, it makes me really sick.

~Jmo~

Also Danielle Van Dam's parents were dragged through the mud.

Agree too on the sick-inducing.

A friend of Zimmerman had helped launch the site, but several fake imitation websites and Twitter accounts have popped up in recent weeks. O'Mara said he is trying to clear the Internet of fake sites and set up a defense fund that meets all legal requirements.
“I’m trying to scrub through all of them and take action to have them taken down,” he told FoxNews.com. “We are currently going through the Division of Consumer Service for an authorized fund. We will likely put up another website for donations, but it will be done so through my office.”

Oh boy, I sure don't want to start following this case if it turns into a media circus like Casey Anthony. It's too maddening. But, about that apology. I noticed that there didn't seem to be remorse and still a sense of entitlement as if he were THE law. He didn't know if Trayvon was armed or not, as if that made it all excuseable. This whole thing is upsetting. If someone with really cold looking eyes got after me I'd fight tooth and nail to get away. Especially if they had a gun. How many times are women, children, and teens warned to never let themselves be taken or disabled by a stalker or abductor. I read about the "fight" between the two yet how can it be considered a fight. If Zimmerman was injured maybe it's like when women scratch and injure their attackers.

I thought the website that Zimmerman's first two lawyers put together and set up for Zimmerman Sr to run was set up for a defense fund. I also thought that I remembered reading on Zimmerman's website that he did himself that the donations were to be for living expenses and such since neither he nor his wife can work to support themselves now. Wasn't there also a part on Zimmerman's own website that HE would be the one dealing directly with the donations so that people who wanted to donate could be sure that the money was going to him?

I'm going to say MOO because now that the website has been taken down and I do not have a screenshot or cached version of it I can not post a link.

Just caught another evasive answer from the bond hearing from GZ's wife. She said they don't own their house. She was asked who does and she said "our landlord." By coincidence (??), if you look it up on the Seminole Tax Appraisers website, the "landlord" shares the last name of Zimmerman. Don't want to get in trouble, but she also has an insurance business in Orlando. (Could this be the Aunt or Godmother??). Hmmm. And she does still hold a cosmetologist license (not for hair, she is a facialist), curiously still under her maiden name. Hmmm. I guess no one asked during the hearing, but I would think that is pertinent information as it gives her the ability to make a living, even if she is in school. Lies by omission seem to run in the family, IMHO.
