Does anyone recall who was in the hospital when George and Cindy first met? She was the nurse on duty for someone IIRC...was it him or his sister? I thought it was his sister... hmmm I can't recall what the person was in the hospital FOR? Can anyone help?

Yeah, I worry about an appeal in this case. With the judge appearing to have to "tell" the defense of appeals, motions, and other things they need to do. And them complaining in court about not getting evidence that they have either already gotten or that has been available and they haven't bothered to pick up.

I do worry about successful appeals over ineffective counsel.

I can really appreciate your concerns about an appeal based on IC. Their biggest mistake to date is being arrogant enough to think they could spin this case in light of the evidence instead of doing right by their client and urging a confession and plea deal.

AF is going as far back as ICA's birth in Ohio, maybe even further. She is going to be delving deeply into the family dynamics to try and save ICA's life. GA and CA will be served up on a platter for the entire world to see. Even after every horrible thing about this family is exposed , ICA may still get the death penalty.
The very fact that the penalty phase is being is being discussed in court ,as though it is a foregone conclusion, must be difficult for CA to hear.
She has risked her own reputation and possibly her own freedom (if she should be charged ) in order to save ICA. It was all for nothing and i think she realizes that now. She sees the bus that is headed in her direction and knows she is about to get run over. She put herself in it's path for that ungrateful child.
I have not a spot of sympathy for her as she is still denying Caylee justice, love and concern.
Just an aside, looking at GA and CA in the video ,they have the same mouth. Kind of freaky.

Bingo!!

I may be way off, but, I think Finnell wants to delve into family dynamics ... interaction with the rest of their family, employers, the rest of the community etc. ... maybe even George's violent temper, George's financial irresponsibility and causing the A's to lose their home ... what his record was when working for the sheriff's office ... IMO it's to find fault with the parents and digging up their pasts ...

I think she's going to do one of her gimmicks by constructing a whoooole recap of casey's life, trying to make her seem human (since her behavior/attitude certainly doesn't), trying to induce guilt into the jury about punishing her, etc.

It reminds me of some of the carp Lyon pulled and we all know how that went over. It's all a manipulative mind game that should have nothing to do with the penalty imo. She was a privileged middle class kid who victimized people her entire life imo. The idea of paying Finnell to go to Ohio is absurd and she should be ashamed for claiming she was "required" to.

She seems to fancy herself as some wise lady who will go to Ohio and suddenly learn all of the keys to Casey's behavior/persona, none of it is her fault, of course, - and then enlighten the barbaric ignorant people like us - as she translates her past to make Casey into the victim.

And IF it's so important, she should just pay out of pocket imo. Human life vs. a trip to Ohio? Priorities, Ann, priorities - you seem to be disingenuous!

yep, that about sums it up ... a spoiled middle-class brat who has never been held accountable for her lies and wrongdoings .... pretty simple ....
I'm pretty sure jurors are not going to be impressed at any lame attempts of Finnell to explain how KC turned out the way she did ...

Re Bolded by me- Weird synchronicity. As I was reading your post my son interupted me to tell me he had read that older couples grow to look alike and that studies had concurred that happens because they endure the same stressors, smile at the same times, cry, eat the same diet, etc etc. I'll have to check what you noticed out lol!

This is so true. GA and CA have very similar bone structure to go along with similar mannerisms. I was trying to figure out who ICA looked more like when I realized how much they resembled one another. Some say that we are attracted to people who look similar to ourselves on a subconscious level. Which makes some sense.

I watched the hearing again last night when all was quiet and agree with those who think that reality has almost set in for Casey.

In the beginning, I bet JB gave Casey so much false hope that he could win this case. Then came all the PC's, sound bites, and TV shows for JB and his 'dream team'. In the beginning, Casey really enjoyed the attention and strutted around feeling so important when she was out on bail (as did the rest of the Anthony family also). Casey got some big names on her legal team and I really believe that she thought she was going to get away with snuffing out little Caylee's life.

Yesterday brought a wake up call to Casey as well as her legal team. I think they all left there yesterday realizing that the trial IS going to happen on schedule and that they WILL have a limit on what can be spent. For all of Baez and Masons bravado, they realize (I believe) that they are on the losing side. They are just now seeing what we have seen from the beginning.

JB has misled his client by making her believe that all was well, IMO. The party is over for all of them. Now comes the really hard work of having to prepare for a trial. It is not going to be pretty, and it is not going to be fun.

To Mason: Are you having fun yet?
To Baez: I think a pair of comfortable shoes are in order rather than the tight fitting little boots.

LALaw, your post sparked a somewhat similar response in me yesterday watching the proceedings. My thought was that as IC sat there immobile as a statue the words "death penalty case" kept being said over and over by all of them including the judge. Wow! That must have had an effect on her somewhere inside her playgirl image. Perhaps the thought, "gosh this is me they are talking about and death penalty over and over". It would give one pause me thinks.

Ineffective Counsel.

Whilst watching the team fumble their way through hearings, motions and eventually (IMHO) the trial itself, is painful. Fear not, it wouldn't matter who was defending her, there is no 'reasonable doubt'.
31 days is an insurmountable hurdle, before we even get to the evidence.

There is no alternate theory because ICA herself removed that possibility with her initial outrageous theory (AKA imaginanny).

Even if a thosand witnesses said there was no water at the site, the fact is that some other dude was able to match the Anthony home duct tape, laundry bag, etc AND manage to dump a body AFTER the arrest whilst the area was crawling with LE and media, and manage to get it just yards from their home.

So, death IS different insofar as appeals are automatic and numerous, but ICA will be as guilty then as she is now and the evidence will be coming in, and will be putting ICA away.

The incompetence or not of counsel is just entertainment whilst I wait for trial.

I've had some time now to digest yesterday's hearing. Up until now, HHJP has "seemingly" gone pretty easy on the defense. And I think because of that, JB and Company thought they could bamboozle their way through these hearings, and maybe even through the trial.

But yesterday, I think the defense got a rude awakening. I think JB, in particular, was shocked when HHJP reminded him of so many things he had asked for previously, and things JB led him to believe. It's as if JB thought he could say whatever he felt was necessary to get the experts he wanted, and what.... did he think HHJP would just "forget" everything he said?

Seems JB got caught with his pants down around his ankles. :woohoo:

IIRC in one of their many interviews or during questioning by LE, either GA or CA mentioned that GA had a sister with "issues" and they feared KC was just like her. I hope I'm not confused about this...........your post jolted it out of my cobwebby mind......I also read the book about this case and sometimes insert the author's research and theories into my memory of actual facts......

I have a faint memory of that info coming from George also, but cannot remember exactly where or to who he said it?

Cindy's Mom Shirley said it in emails to her own sister.

Wonder if the sister spends her own money or other people's?

Bill Sheaffer is certainly very forthright on his blog regarding the "ineptitude" of KC's lawyers. He doesn't mince words.

George also alludes to this in his interview with OCSO:

"... But my sister has had a lot of issues over the years. I'm just wondering of (sic) something skipped somewhere to Casey. I... I don't want to think that."

It was one of George's younger sisters, Ruthie who was in the hospital. Cindy was a nurse for her. He didn't say what Ruthie was in the hospital for.

I have watched the hearing twice now and I think yesterday was a "game changer" for the defense team and ICA!

So you're not as disappointed as you were at first? You know, on the other thread about ICA attending, someone mentioned that the reason she was attending was because of the motions, but that she should be required to attend all status hearings to see what her team is up to. I think that's what happened yesterday..she saw that they didn't know if they had money for copies, that they were misrepresenting alleged shenanigans by the State, that HHJP was not happy that they misled them, and that CM at least was not aware of a piece of discovery that was actually quite memorable to anyone who follows the case. She should have to attend these status meetings to see what exactly is going on versus what she is being told. Not that she can really complain about mistruths and money squandering but....

Ugh! George is so annoying with his... "I don't want to think this"...or "I don't want to think that"... "I don't want to think that I could have brought someone in to this world that could blah, blah, blah"! Grow up already! Sheesh... none of us WANT to believe a lot of things about the way the world is, and people are... and even what we ourselves are capable of! My God man... pull your large head out of the sand. This is life... did they ALL live like this? Like a family of ostrich' with their heads in the sand? I'm about tired of listening to anything that comes out of his mouth... any of them, for that matter. He is so far removed from the reality that most of us here live in - I'm not sure there is any hope?:furious:

Sorry George... you don't get to CHOOSE what you believe based on the best case scenarios... it aint how life works man... get a grip!
