I am wondering if these call times are in UTC time? That would make them 6 hours ahead of Central Time.
The reason I am asking is because at the top of the record it reads, " AT&T queried for records using Eastern Time Zone. AT&T's records are stored and provided in UTC."
Can someone verify this? It would change all the times on the calls if so. But, I could be completely wrong. Just a thought.

Hmmm- It is more understandable for me now when it takes investigators a long time to sift through evidence. I can appreciate the time it takes and the importance of the details regarding the phone records and time zones.

Yes, you are right. Florida is Eastern, so would be 7 hours. But on June 29th, Florida was on Daylight Savings Time, so may be 8?

Good point with Daylight Savings Time. Didn't think of that. I took into account Central Time with the 6 hours, so that would make it 5 hours off UTC time in the summer

I clicked on your link and you are absolutely correct in what it states there. However, In my experience, UTC is 5 hours later than EST and 4 hours later than EDT.

Checking multiple websites, including timeanddate.com, all stated UTC is 5 hours later than EST and 4 hours later than EDT. 1:00 UTC now; 8 pm EST now.

Also, is local time automatically recorded by the GPS system? Missouri is 1 hour ahead of Florida. I assume the times recorded in the preliminary report
are local, but I am not sure.

MO is one hour behind FL (not ahead of), i.e. 2:00pm in FL is 1:00pm in MO.
May make a diff in calculating driving time between these 2 states.
In 2015 between March 08 - Nov 01, MO & FL both used DST daylight savings time, & MO is still one hr behind FL..

W. some GPS clock/timestamp settings, depending on specific device, user may be able to re-set or calibrate to selected time zone. Or not, IDK.

4 hours is correct for June 29 for Florida and 5 hours for Missouri.

You are correct about the time difference. I always learn something new on WS! I'm thinking "What is UTC?" I'm obviously waaaay behind the times since they stopped using the expression Greenwich Mean Time GMT in 1972! Here's a chart that helped me to visualize it.

Northeast (CT, NJ, NY, MA) are always the most-ahead in time in the country.

I think by that time, she knew something was up and that she was never supposed to mention he was out of town.

This drives me nuts. How can so many reporters and writers be so incredibly lazy as to not verify F-A-C-T-S before publishing? The same information is available to all of us and yet the media continues to publish and perpetuate erroneous information via tv and the internet.
