I agree about JA and Diane Downs, was going to post a comparison video the other day, but decided against that.

As far as today's hearing, JA had to be taken in front of the Judge to be sure she understood that trial continues tomorrow, and so the Judge can be sure she understands that. That is b/c of the few days lockdown on suicide watch, and because the Court cannot have days tied up for a trial to continue if it is not continuing. Court time is very precious as it is always tied up with cases, a constant flow, and they have to all be rescheduled and rearranged whenever one gets moved to another date.

My guess is Jodi was evaluated by a psychologist to determine if she was competent which is the reason for today's closed hearing.

I agree, they are alike. Her daughter wrote to her and DD replied back that she has people watching her. Her daughter has never contacted her again.

I saw that interview on TV! She found out who her "mom" was from a babysitter! Then when older she wrote to Diane and her letters back creeped her out so much she cut off all contact. I'm glad she figured out "what" her "mom" was before she could be hurt by her any further!

I absolutely agree. Dr. Drew got in a real lather about the criticism of mental health professionals. I also think he has acted a little too gleeful when talking about the trial and Ms Arias. He really needs to take a break.

i get that people don't want to blame sandy and her husband for jodi. but they did raise her. they've known her all her life. i think they had other kids, they were running a business and they let a lot of things she did ride, thinking it was a 'phase' or that it would pass, or whatever. buying time and hoping things would get better.

i think the ariases were ignorant of what they were actually dealing with. they had this one kid who sucked the oxygen out of the family, and they looked the other way because they didn't know what to do. when she hit her teens, things really blew up and then she left. who knows if there were teachers or counselors along the way who tried to head off this disaster. in any case, someone's dead because of her, and i can't entirely say her parents are blameless in this situation.

I don't think Jodie is or was the type of person you can force to do anything. even as an adult or teen! She was out of control, her family may have tried to get her help!

Her dad said that her,mom went there spent 2,500 to fly there,rent her uhaul because Jodie refused to fly back with her. She got in a heated argument with her mom and kicked so her mom fly back alone. Jodie packs up the uhaul dropped in on Travis and leaves. She doesn't get to far! Before she calls him and tells him she's going to sleep in the uhaul. He says ok one night only.
She CLUNG for four more days. He probably had to evict her literally lol.

Imagine this scenario:
All we hear is that JA goes to her cell.
Thursday, Juan would have started his case, and the next step would have been mitigation.
Think of Juan showing tapes of JA showing ZERO remorse, and all the other things she said to Troy. Everyone would be ,"Oh GEEZ! Where on earth did THESE tapes come from??"
Who did this interview??? How did Juan get it??
Troy would emerge as a hero. It would have been his hidden tape that helped crucify JA, and we would all be cheering him.
Instead we have him airing JA trashing Travis once again on the one and only day the Alexander family have had some semblance of peace. I wish him karma - what ever that may be in his case.

I hope he doesn't use a single sound bite from that interview -- he doesn't need it and it will drive her nuts to have her grand post conviction performance ignored.

I wish she was able to move forward. Her exhusband new wife kept sending her postcards when she was on vacation. The cards said eat your heart out b--ch. Her weathly ex refused to pay child support. There was no enforsement because he knew everyone in the legal community. It was for this reason she should of had a change of venue. That was denied. Theres alot more to the story.

I hate this blame the parents crap. What exactly did her parent's ignore? How do you know so much about Jodi's childhood?

Surely the parents didn't know their daughter would brutally murder someone.

What struck me cold was that neither one of them ever even implied that she couldn't have done it. In fact, her father's reaction to hearing Travis was dead was to ask "what did she do?". They both clearly knew she had the capability of a very bad act. I suppose common denial kept them from actually seeing into the future, but by their very own words, they automatically reacted with no surprise, incredulity or shock.

I agree! It was an exceedingly poor decision to place them all in that jury box, regardless of the armed guard. I just can't imagine the amount of necessary self control over the thoughts and urges of the TA siblings while sitting just a few short feet behind the person who violently took their brother from this life. :notgood:
