IMO, if she had intended the orange car to be a decoy, she would have bought it using her real name, not an alias.

Having a second (drab) escape vehicle stashed near the orange abandonment spot seemed possible at first, but it would have forced them into a specific escape route, when it seems wiser to leave options open to react to changing situations. Who knows if she would have thought like that though.

I think the paint job was abandoned either because they realized how attention-getting it would still be, or they didn't bring enough paint, etc. And maybe because something spooked them into needing to leave ASAP.

So I'm thinking they initially intended to keep going in the Edge, then eventually realized how unique/noticeable the color was, then stole a vehicle along the way, maybe shortly before deciding to pull off into a rural area to paint the Edge -- either to camoflauge it to abandon, or to camo it and maybe continue on with two vehicles.

Then when paint failed they simply left it. Hiding it would have been better for them -- even hiding in plain sight, such as parking it in a lot or in front of an apartment building where it could sit for a while before becoming obvious it didn't belong. Leaving it blocking the road seems like an "oh s#*&" moment when they felt they just needed to get out of there immediately, regardless of how poorly positioned the car was.

I think the spray paint idea is very stupid.

It's really difficult to spray paint a car well enough to make it look like real paint. It gets all over the lights and trim, or you don't get close enough to the trim and the rims of the underlying color clearly show through, unless you carefully mask it out with tape and paper. It even looks like the wheelwells are orange in the photo of the vehicle.

And green? Black, blue, or brown would have been a better choice.

There must be some hardware store that noticed a recent large purchase of dark green spray paint?

I think I read that they had to obtain a search warrant in order to search the car, so that was holding them up. This is from memory and I don't have a link. Maybe in the Sheriff's presser today he will clarify about the mechanical condition of the car. JMO

She's not smart enough to have planned a safe future life for herself.

At 56, she appears to have possibly 20-25 more years of life ahead of her.

She hasn't really set herself up for good use of those years.
I dunno. Smart people use their intelligence for evil and go out blazing all the time. Hitler manipulated an entire country and orchestrated the systemic eradication of nearly an entire people group. Horrifically I might add. He applied his intelligence to the worst possible means because of his own delusions and ended up committing suicide to avoid being killed.

You can be intelligent and calculated and a comprehensive, systemic thinker who can plan out an escape and still be taking a risk that will end you. Both are likely true of her IMO.

Maybe she is sick. Too bad HIPAA prevents us from finding out what doctor appointment she missed. As a matter of fact I actually don’t doubt her story that she wasn’t feeling well. She had the doctors appointment for a reason. MOO

Someone mentioned earlier maybe it was a “Plan B” in case she got caught same-day which is a good possibility outside my theory she had a severe health issue. MOO
Yes! My background is in psychology and people at all places on the intellectual spectrum can suffer from mental illness or suffer a mental break.

Here's a link with interviews with county Dist Atty, Sheriff, former co-worker, inmate, etc... they knew Vicky. Maybe after watching it those with questions will have a better understanding of her and why some are surprised and some aren't about what is happening. https://twitter.com/search?q=vicky white&src=recent_search_click&f=live

This link is just taking me to a random search for Vicky White on Twitter. Is there a specific interview to look for? Or am I doing something wrong? Could be the case!

Thanks in advance.

I fixed my original link. Thank you for letting me know

I would not be surprised if a health issue was the catalyst for this. It would explain everything.

Otherwise, she is just super dumb.
BBM What’s that expression? There is no fool like an old fool? I think it applies here. She was crazy in love. I think VW thought she’d met her soul mate. And maybe she has. At least when he is medicated. She wasn’t going to throw this last chance at love away. I bet she spent a lot of her alone time reading dime store romance novels aka bodice rippers.

I haven't seen this posited, but maybe the perps left the Ford to be stolen, and that's who tried spray painting it? Spray painting stolen cars is a regular occurrence in Seattle.
They would have left the keys though, if they wanted it stolen. I also think they may have left the keys if the car was disabled. For some reason they kept the keys (or threw them in the woods) and locked the doors. MOO

If he wasn't the man mountain and dangerous dangerously crazy scary individual that he is one might wonder if he had no idea what she was doing and believed he was going to an evaluation. She is the one with the fire arm and the means. Say she became more infatuated with him than her her and he is still cuffed up and under her power etc. How likely would it be he would draw attention to himself given that he is out and knows he can definitely 'take her out' when he decides/opportunity arises.

What am I on about? ha. If this was the case and he had to escape her that would be utterly nuts.

Something like the film Misery.

IF the reason they abandoned the SUV was because the paint didn't work out, and if they had a large stash of paint cans, I would assume they would leave those with the SUV. Or throw them into the brush. Not load them up along with their other gear into a new vehicle. In fact even if they only had one can of paint, why bring it with them?

Once the towed SUV was linked to this case, I can only hope that awareness triggered detailed inspection, including checking it out mechanically, going back to the location it was towed from and
searching the vicinity, etc. Including checking with ALL nearby houses to make sure everyone is ok and none of the houses that might be empty are being used as a hideout. We know at least the one closest neighbor has been interviewed, just hope they are thoroughly covering the rest of the vicinity for clues to where they went and in what vehicle.

i had thought that as well... but just didn't bother to post it... since it is highly unlikely. however, i do feel that staying on backroads in rural AL or TN was to avoid any camera detection--whether it was the duo or some stranger who stole that car. Or some decoy individual they set up to lose that car!

I just cannot fathom how they would be able to transport all those guns and money and who knows what else, if that car broke down.

Have there been any articles mentioning what kind of car she drove regularly? Did she have her own vehicle or did she just drive the Trooper car? Did she sell her own vehicle?
Oooh! Good question. There was a reporter video early on that interviewed a neighbor but only showed the neighbor’s shoes and pants not his face because the neighbor must not have wanted to appear on video. And in that video, I think they pan the camera over toward Pat Davis’ house and show a brown car that they say belongs to her. This was like 4 days ago though so I don’t have an immediate link even though I know it is in the threads somewhere.

This is the problem with those of us who follow threads from Day 1. We see so many things and have them logged in our memories, but it’s a lot to track when it comes to remembering what outlet said what.:) I’ll see if I can find it though. Hold tight!

If she was obsessed with him, as many women are prone to be with guys if they have unresolved issues, then it’s actually possible.

The bigger question is what vehicle, if any, are they in now and how did they get from that rural location to wherever they are now? If they had supplies with them in the orange car, they would have had to transfer them to the other vehicle. Is that other vehicle the noisy truck the neighbor heard? Did she actually see the truck?

The article never said that she saw the truck, it is her interpretation of what she heard that it was an idling truck. I wonder if they had their supplies and belongings loaded in another vehicle and the copper SUV was a "burner car", a good term introduced on this thread by another poster. I think it was a burner car, that's why she paid so little for it and didn't care about its condition, it was just to get them from point A to point B. JMO.

I'm guessing CW knows who to go to for any kind of illegal goods one can imagine. There is money to be made for anyone who has the capital to make a few large puchases. It wrong and it's foolish, but so is fraternizing with crazy-violent prisoners.

On the other hand, if she survives this fiasco and the investigation is not totay wrecked, she will have access to free room and board and a variety of elective medical procedures, paid for by taxpayer $.

Along with her internet search history, I want to know what stores she visited in the last month and what she bought. How many cans of spray paint? Large/tall men’s clothing? Anything for recreation/fun/romance? What kind of life did she imagine having with this creep?

The doors might have locked automatically, that is the way my SUV is programmed. I haven't gone in and changed the programming since I bought it.
