I still think it's Hospital Policy that the car seat be brought to the floor. No exceptions even for Royalty. As it should be IMO.

I don't know, but maybe someone on the hospital staff has to check out the seat for safety reasons.

Way better. Remember her and William are equals. They have been together for 10 years.. She was not thrown at Charles as Diana was.

We all know that Charles did not ever really love Diana.. He could not marry his true love Camilla and so he had to produce heirs and married Diana.

This is completely different.

Lovely moment. They will be wonderful Parents. The side by side was touching (Charles and Diana introducing William/Kate and William introducing their Son) Well done.

I think Charles and Diana looked uncomfortable and unhappy. Not with William, with each other. But that's just me.

Doesn't sound like the new baby will have a name today, but does anyone have suggestions now that we know the gender? I had a selection of girl names but didn't consider that the newborn royal would be a boy :D

My choices: Alexander (for the Queen whose middle name is Alexandra). Michael (Kate's dad). Phillip (one of Charles' middle names). Francis or Spencer (after Diana). George (Queen Elizabeth's father as King George V).

Then that person needs to be FIRED because they failed miserably.

You do not swaddle a baby in a carseat.
The straps need to be SNUG... not so loose you can remove the child without unbuckling.
I'm a bit disappointed they didn't just have a car seat tech AT the hospital with them.

This is the seat they are using. (British seats don't have chest clips. This seat in the US does have one.)
However, I have USED seats without chest clips and you STILL have to tighten the harness. :seeya:

Agree! I have always adored her and would love to meet her in person, but I know that won't happen, so I stick to reading biographies of the Royals. Currently reading biography of the late Queen Mum and also reading the biography of Marie Antionette.

I loved the Queen Mum, she was quite a character. Marie Antonette, not so much.

I can't believe they don't use the 5-point harness system! Why even use a carseat? The baby or toddler or young child would just fly right through the straps in an accident. Or, if like my child, wiggle through.

Not if it's used correctly, it's quite safe.
Some of the places with the lowest death rates don't use chest clips.

I used a foreign seat for my daughter for a couple years.
She outgrew the US seats rear facing and needed to remain rear facing.

I was always very comfortable with no chest clip in THAT seat.
They are designed slightly differently so the straps sit just fine without the chest clip.

However, Baby Cambridge is NOT correctly restrained by any stretch of the imagination.

Beautiful! Both mom and dad wearing baby blue! I wish we could have seen the little Prince's face.

Loved his little fingers moving around! Made him so real.

I'm with a few of you...I'm not a huge royal watcher and didn't really follow this until the "baby watch" began in earnest...I teared up a little when I heard the news it was a baby boy. I was just thinking how happy and excited the parents were...they are such a cute couple together!

I think it's awesome that Kate's parents went to visit before Charles and his wife. :giggle:
I also think it's awesome that Kate wore a dress that displayed her baby bump. Not hid it.

I wonder if this is the same blanket used with all 3?
It certainly looks VERY similar if you look closely at the pattern.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same one. That would be cool.

Royal Baby Makes Biggest Entrance In A Century

Airdate: 07/23/2013

He's one big baby!

Princess Kate’s boy is the heaviest future king in 100 years—weighing in at eight pounds, six ounces. His dad, Prince William, was seven pounds, 1.5 ounces.

INSIDE EDITION spoke to Dr. Lisa Masterson, co-host of The Doctors and an OB-GYN specialist about what the royal baby's weight could mean about his future development...

Be sure to watch the video segments of the report on the royal baby. The video with spoofs of the royal birth are hilarious

When DD was born in the 70s, infant car seats were not required. In fact, many young mothers didn't have them. When I was discharged from the hospital (after a 4-night stay!), I was wheeled out of the hospital with DD in my arms. DH had brought the car around to meet me, nurse took DD from me while I got into the car then handed her to me. That's the way it was done way back when...

That is a 5 point seat. There is no chest clip but the issue is the straps on the baby are not snug and positioned properly.

I would bet that a nurse okay'd that..

They have been parents 1 day. Lets cut them some slack and see how they progress..

I like Spencer and Alexander. I hope they pick a variation of a name that is unique to this child. It kind of sucks, imo, to have the exact same name as others..... Henry, George, etc.

5-point restraints are sweet! My daughter flipped her car with my 5 yo granddaughter in a 5-point restraint and she was still in the seat, hanging upside down! I insisted on the seat and even bought 2 of them so she would have one and I would too.
