I'm now thinking along those lines.
I don't get the feeling he waited to attack
Beverly. I think he attacked her soon after she
got to the property.

I wanted to add..... a closed casket can be telling as to the
condition of the body. :(
RIP Beverly.
Loving energy to her family and friends today.

I still think he acted alone.

Also the 'closed casket' convinces me at least she was murdered most likely the same day he kidnapped her and her body is in a bad state of decomposition.

My prayers are with her wonderful family.

When I was in the 10th grade, a friend died in a car wreck. Not only did they have an open casket, they hired a photographer to take pictures of her in the casket. Plus they paraded us by the casket. I didn't know that it was in my best interest not to look. Her face was smashed in and it did not look like a face. WHY would a family have an open casket like that when for many of us it was our first funeral. So, I'm happy that this family chose not to do that if their mother does not look like herself. As with cremation, a photo of the person when they were alive is a great memory and much better to think of in the days and years to come.

Yikes!!! Open caskets are definitely for those who still look like themselves after death.

She had an extensive autopsy, which in itself presents issues for an open casket. She was also murdered (though we don't know the cause of death yet), perhaps brutally, and buried for some time (probably upwards of 3+ days) in a shallow grave. I don't think you have to have any kind of inside information to know that it would be a very, very difficult task to have an open casket funeral, given what little we know of the circumstances of her death. Devastating!

My guess is that he buried her Sunday night into Monday morning. I don't believe she was at that plant Friday morning. If they were following him though... My guess is wrong.

Anyone know what time that plant would have closed on Friday and if anyone would have been working there over the weekend? Also, how far away from the buildings was she buried?

Aren't most open casket viewings of people who have died in a home or hospital setting, and are taken to the mortuary within a short period of time for embalming? If BC had been dead for some days and left to the elements, I doubt if she could be made to look natural. It could have nothing to do with what the nature of her injuries were.

Carl, Jr's statement "....although none of us will ever be able to see her again (her casket will be closed) I wanted..." makes me think the family may not be seeing her either. I hope the one that did this to her is haunted for the rest of his miserable life. She looked beautiful in her green evening gown celebrating 50 years!

There are many people, myself included, don't believe in an open casket. I believe in remembering your loved one the way they looked in life, not in death.

(Were there alcohol/drugs involved in your friend's death? I'm asking because I wonder if her family was trying to use her death to make other kids think twice?)

I agree re the photos of when the person was alive. We did this with my sister. We picked photos throughout her life that best exhibited her personality (and her mischief!)

My best friend just died two weeks ago, in her sleep. It was 6 days before the funeral. I so wish they hadn't had an open casket, as her skin looked so discolored. There was no trauma to her at all, but perhaps given the time lapse between BC's death and the funeral, that is why they decided upon a closed casket. There may not have been any trauma to her face, I so hope not, but maybe the discoloration was unsettling.

I was 14 when my mother died. My sister was 10, my brother 6. We saw our mother. It was not a pretty sight. She did not look like herself at all, and there were actually signs of decomp that hadn't been covered very well. It was highly highly traumatic.

My grandmother's casket was supposed to be closed. My sister was in her 8th month of a risky pregnancy at the time. Ice on the roads had caused us to be late for the funeral, and the funeral director escorted us to the very front of the church and sat us down...right in front of my grandmother's open casket! My poor sister totally lost it and was physically ill for days after.

Nope, IMO, if there is a casket involved, it should be closed.

Open caskets aren't common in the UK. Most people have a closed coffin.

What was said on the NG show btw?

bbm. One of my best friends died drunk driving in December at the age of 18. It was closed casket, but after the service & before the cremation, his mother took me and a few of his/our close friends back to view his body because she wanted us to understand the consequences of drinking and driving.

That is the only time I have seen an open casket with someone who looked extremely unpresentable, and it was in a "lesson" situation.

I would be the type to ask what the autopsy gave as date because I would want the correct date put on the tomb stone.

I bet I can find out about the hours Friday. They do not work weekends. I drive by on the way home every day around 6 pm and they are closed. If I found out about the location of the grave on the plant, I wouldn't be able to share it on here without a link to back it up right?

A friend of mine was murdered years ago. She was shot in the back of the head. Her family opted for an open casket which was, IMO, a poor choice. Despite all of the makeup she was still very swollen and bruised and her injury was quite clear. My sense is that BC may very well have died the same way. It's a way to kill someone when you don't want to face them. It's a coward's way. And if AL was holding her for some reason (like ransom) and she was killed because things spiraled out of control, a shot to the back of the head would sadly make sense. It would also explain the need for the closed casket. IMO.

I prefer memorial "Celebrations of Life" to traditional funerals. I think it's important to remember the deceased person s/he was in life. I find traditional funerals macabre and I don't participate in viewings.

I remember reading that a few days ago and that the friend thought the text response from Beverly's phone was uncharacteristic. The friend wondered in retrospect if someone other than Beverly sent the text.

Our local news app WDSU in New Orleans did a article on "18 signs of a psychopath". AL fits a lot of them from whats we know about him....

I don't know if drugs or alcohol were a factor. I do believe no seat belt was a factor and a very small sportscar. This was in 1977.

Thank you for posting your thoughts! It is cathartic reading everyone's thoughts and opinions. So glad to see this discussion today.

I was the only person in our family that thought that way twenty years ago when my sister was killed in an auto accident. She had a closed casket. Only her nose was recognized as being "her nose". Her face was not the same according to my other sibling who felt looking would confirm death. There was a time scheduled for anyone wanting a viewing to see her. Nope, not me. I so wanted to remember her as I last saw her - happy and full of life. I never have regretted not looking. To me, the news of her death and the fact that she was no longer calling or seen in person was enough confirmation for me.

A young man acquaintance committed suicide with a gunshot to the head. There was an open casket with a head and face (he no longer had one) created for viewing - family's request. It did not look like him at all.

May beautiful Beverly be remembered as the loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and co worker she was. Her smile radiates sunshine.
When I hear the word realtor or broker, Beverly's lovely face will always be in my thoughts.

Rest in peace Beverly and dance with the angels. :rose:
