And the Brisbane Times version. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/na...e-claims-in-chardon-case-20180509-p4zeca.html

Foster said whenever he had questioned his involvement in the case he thought about what his idol, rugby league coach Wayne Bennett, would do.

"Coach Bennett would say 'you tell the truth and you do your civic duty' and that's why I'm here," he said.

He is also reported to have said,

Foster said he was not financially motivated to help police with the case, but instead wanted to "do the right thing".

“I think at the time I thought, who's speaking for Novy?" he said.

"I'm just trying to do the right thing — nothing more, nothing less.

"I would never be claiming any financial rewards … I find this a terribly sad thing — I just want to be on the side of the good guys for a change”

What The ?..

Ok, if we believe this is his motivation, we may as well believe a cup of tea will make you loose weight.

I think Mr Conman should read the fine print,

The allocation of the $250,000 reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of the Police Service.

As if......

I think he's after getting remission of gaol time and maybe there's outstanding charges he wants dropped. He wants to get all that sorted before giving evidence. Then keep it as fluid as possible, so he can tilt his story up or down to suit circumstance. Avoid perjury, apply for reward, woo media bucks, and who knows what else he may have in view. I'd say he has a whole map of possibilities and alternative plans.

A police statement has revealed that "prison informant" Peter Foster claims accused murderer John Chardon told him he weighted down and disposed of Novy Chardon's body in the Gold Coast Seaway.
Mr Chardon is facing a committal hearing in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, charged with the alleged murder of his 34-year-old wife Novy.
The mother of two disappeared from her Upper Coomera home on Queensland's Gold Coast in 2013 and her remains have never been found.
During the hearing, Foster told the court Mr Chardon had told him he shot his wife using a handgun with a makeshift silencer. In Foster's police statement, he said Mr Chardon told him he then dumped the body in the seaway.

I somehow believe Foster about Novy’s death, disposal and the reason why she was murdered.
This article tells the gruesome way Novy was killed and disposed of, I didn’t feel it appropriate on copying.

Foster yesterday testified Chardon made the jailhouse confession about killing Novy because he didn't want her getting half of his business.

Today, Foster claimed the businessman's motive for the fatal shooting was a letter he received from Novy's lawyers about their divorce.

"He explained her lawyers felt he was stalling for a year in the settlement and then he got a 'get out of the house' letter or something like that," Foster said.

"He had a planned business trip and he was worried they were going to change the locks. I think he just felt that was the straw that broke the camel's back."

Foster also alleged on the night of Chardon's meltdown, he spoke about the fact he hadn't left a trace of evidence, saying "ammonia and water washes away DNA and forensics".

I think of this case often and how devastating it all is for Novy and her family.

I have only recently read these Threads.
What an absolute Creep.
Looking forward to the trial, to watch him 'drown in his filth'.

The ABC article has grown; here's a bit more:

Foster said it was also a chance for redemption for a long list of convictions, including fraud over weight loss scams, money laundering and breaching court orders.

"I'm trying to make my Mum proud, much of my life they're not proud of," Foster told the court.

So, his argument is that we should believe him because he's a conman.

Ha! A business trip. He was off to see his next younger model Asian girlfriend.

He even conned the wife of England’s Prime Minister IIRC.

He was wired. That’s makes t believable.

I think that lots of people conned Cherie. Including Rupert Murdoch's editors who hacked the phone of a murdered child and sent messages from it. She knew and believed some really awful people.

I thought I read Foster could only convince police to wire him for one occasion. Was that the occasion of the 'meltdown' and alleged confession? Probably not. We keep hearing about the evidence of Foster's 'notes'. Nothing about the evidence of a recording, so far.

I'm as keen as anyone to get Chardon convicted. But Foster has zero credibility as far as I'm concerned.

"John told me that he put Novy in the seaway after 8:00pm when the tide was running out to sea until midnight.
"John then said, 'I weighted her with moderate weights so she would go under'.
"John then said … she would have shot out of the seaway like a torpedo."

There are people fishing, it’s a busy seaway, and who knows if anything might wash up on a beach, it’s got to be unpredictable.

I don’t know, but I would think, out through the seaway and keep going east....

I don't understand. Does he mean from a boat or from where?

TWO friends of slain Gold Coast woman Novy Chardon have told a Brisbane court she had been in a relationship with another man in the lead up to her death.

In evidence given this morning, Southport woman Frederika Wong told the Brisbane Magistrates Court she had known Novy for some time prior to her disappearance and was aware she had a boyfriend that went by the name ‘Ben’.

I know, something does not sound right about this story. Is Conman making it up or Is he told this by JC (or others). I don’t think you can dispose of a body here, from a boat or from anywhere else along the banks.

What time is it dark in the Gold Coast in Feb? I haven't visited in February but have been a number of times and seem to recall it gets dark around 7.30 in Sept and Oct? Also recall that the Spit was a busy area for joggers and tourists admittedly a bit earlier than 8pm but seems an odd place to choose?

For those who are not familiar with the Gold Coast Seaway

https://www.gcwa.qld.gov.au/boaties-to-be-aware-of-shoaling-around-gold-coast-seaway/

It looks like this. About 200 m across, only accessible by vehicles from one side

I was looking at the Seaway yesterday, trying to remember where the police search was conducted when that human bone was found there. The search was along the area around the Spit. The bone forensically tested to be belonging to a young girl who was lost in the water there, Katelyn Hyland, not Novy. Katelyn was lost in 2012 and the bone was not found until 2014.

https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.a...y/news-story/0095baef23117924eb3635d0cefdc371

Another person, Gavin Studwell, had gone missing in that area, too, in 2012. His family had hoped the bone belonged to him ... but it didn't. I guess there may be some strange currents at that spot near the Spit. If it took so long for the bone to be discovered as, apparently, that is a big spot for divers as well as people who fish there.

By the way that it was described that Novy's remains would have 'shot' out into the ocean, I am wondering if this was the area in which Novy was dumped.
