yes, that first investigating policeman seemed to have formed a bond with the family and super sensitive to their distress, then he retired.
the sex crimes squad were right onto it though and im sure with at least 20 sex offenders in that close proximity in kendall, youre immediate concern would be paedophiles!

THE homicide squad took over the investigation into the disappearance of William Tyrrell shortly after he went missing but are still not completely convinced the three-year-old is dead.
Detective Inspector Jubelin, who has locked up some of the worst criminals in the state and was portrayed in an Underbelly series for his conviction of Anthony ‘‘Rooster’’ Perish, will now be the officer in charge following the retirement of Detective Inspector Hans Rupp.

‘‘Although we have grave concerns for William’s welfare, until we have conclusive evidence that William is deceased, we will be keeping our minds open to all possibilities including that he could be alive,’’ investigators said.

I do not recall ever having heard or seen Det Insp Hans Rupp.

me neither it was superintendent fehon...

Police have said they cannot rule out the possibility the boy was abducted, and the ABC has been told police are also speaking with all known sex offenders in the region.
However, Superintendent Fehon said that police have no evidence to indicate this was the case either.
Police strike force Rossann has now been set up to investigate the disappearance.
Superintendent Fehon said 30 police investigators were consulting with the state crime squad.

Firstly I wonder why it was suppressed in the first place

Secondly, I wonder on what grounds the suppression was lifted?

Yesterday was only a "police mention" & a date was set for the next court date, which is the 16th march.

If you had of looked for WS name on the court list yesterday ( before the suppression being revoked), it wouldn't have been there, but now that the suppression has been revoked it's now there.

looks like det hans rupp was in charge of the homicide team?

The state crime command's homicide squad took charge of the investigation in early December.

But detective inspector Hans Rupp said the public shouldn't read too much into his squad's involvement.

And since Hans Rupp's retirement, Jubelin has said they hope that William is alive, too.

Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad said there was still hope William was alive.
"As I've said to the family and I've said publicly, until we have evidence that conclusively proves William is deceased we will treat this matter as if William is still alive, and that's the way we're pursuing the investigation," he said.

Yes DI Hans Rupp was in charge of NSW Homicide. He retired in early 2015 and Gary Jubelin took over the job.

Paul Fehon is the Mid-North Coast Local Area Commander of Police and as such it was his responsibility to handle William's disappearance until Homicide took over the case.

Susie Boswell catches up for a chat and lunch with our top cop, Paul Fehon.

interesting comments at the bottom of the page. comes with the territory I expect.

I don't know the actual reasons, but I hear it was appealed by several media outlets. I imagine the suppression was on the reporting of his Court Appearances, which won't happen now, we should hear all about them.

Mr Spedding’s complicated family history has been revealed publicly as a result. This includes the fact that his former brother-in-law is the pedophile and convicted killer Jeffrey John Hillsley.

Yes I know this case is not related to Williams disappearance.
But complicated family histories ....... they can lead anywhere and to anyone.

Just my opinion.

Well it could be related for all we know, soso. Who knows what is going to come out. I thought the bit about Hillsley had already been made public. Maybe it was and then suppressed. Interesting that it's back out in the public arena again.

Anything else of interest in that article, soso? It's paywalled. If not, I guess we have more 'complications' to come out still!

No!!!! that is an older article.
I need to get better at identifying that .... sorry.

Dated September 2015.

From memory the suppression order was to do with Spedding's alleged victims. The two little girls who are now grown women. I really can't think of a reason why the suppression order was lifted yesterday, unless the two girls are ok with their names being published in MSM.

Don't fret soso, it might be old but could still be relevant. Never hurts to re-visit. And the 'complications' are interesting. I really think that word could hold the clues /solution to this mystery.

Yes that's what I thought too (re the suppression order). However, a lot of older women (and men) are now coming out to report & confront their abusers and get their justice.

Bearbear they want to protect the sister, but it doesn't make sense, because the neighbours and people in
their street and people they are in contact with every single day would know. They had two kids living
with them and now just the sister. People talk , word gets around etc. If they really want to protect the
sister they would have to move away, change names and jobs etc. I dont understand how they are
protecting the sister, because everyone already knows. I have two kids, if we came back from a holiday
and one child was missing the neighbours would notice and other people too. Sorry maybe it's just me
but I don't get it.

I always figured that the authorities didn't want the bio family knowing where the sister was or who was fostering her. In case it put her or them at risk.

I'm very glad they are finding the strength to do so these monsters need to be held accountable no matter how much time has passed. Statute of limitations should be scrapped for cases of sexual abuse in my opinion.
