I can't seem to access it now either. From memory:
1. 12 detectives were added to the investigation to work round the clock.
2. Extra resources were thrown at the case about 6 months ago and whatever is needed will continue to be given.
3. This seemed to come after Garry Jubelin said they had ahuge amount of data to sort through and the FP had a meeting at a private function with the state deputy premier and police minister.
4. police believe it was a targeted abduction and may be the victim of a paedophile ring operating in the area.
5. parents are desparate for the public to not give up hope and keep searching.

I'm sure there's more but thast's all I remember. Hope we can get our hands on the article soon.

Point 4 just made me feel sick and sad.

Wonder if the recent article from NC has sparked this.

However, adding more manpower makes me think they are working on a pretty big operation. A break in case?

Excellent, thank you.

Seriously I don't get any of this. After 18 months, another 12 detectives were added to the investigation to work around the clock. That is four detectives per shift in a 24 hour period.

Extra resources where thrown at the case about six month ago! 18 months too late as far as I'm concerned! And what pray tell are these 'extra resources'?

So the fp had a meeting at a private function with the state chief of police! More freaking secrecy! Get the data sorted Gary, this is a (then) three year old boy we're talking about here! Why a private function??

In regard to point 4, Gary Jubelin has always stated that William's disappearance was a case of two worlds colliding. I took this to mean that innocence (William) inadvertently met evil (his abductor/s) without any fore-planning. If this is Jubelin's belief, how does he now reconcile the belief that it was a targeted abduction, i.e. planned. It just doesn't make sense.

The parents and indeed all of William's extended family need to be reassured that the public haven't given up hope of finding William. By the same token the public need reassurance from the police, parents and extended family that what we the public have been fed to date is in fact the truth.

Actually, I wrote it wrong, there are 12 D's and analysts working around the clock on this case. The head of homicide, Mick Willing, said this is the largest investigation that they are working on and the volume of information is huge. I can get that they changed their minds to a targeted abduction but that it came from a local group is bewildering. With the information we have, I can only think that there was a lot of information BS gleaned from the FGM on the day he came to fix her washing machine unless she had a number of in depth conversations with others in the area about the impending visit. MOO

Totally agree Makara.

Wonder what the huge amount of data would be? Computer files?
I thought it was always believed to be opportunistic? Now it's changed to targeted?

Maybe the meeting put more pressure on Jubelin to hire more people?

Yes there is definitely a lot of secrecy going on. Seems we are being told one thing and the opposite is true. This is getting very bizarre.

Now we have even more questions!

You're way more generous in your assessment than me Krig. The more I read lately, the angrier I get! We are dealing with a beautiful little boy who, seemingly has just disappeared off the face of the earth! Yet behind the scenes, we see lots of selfies posted on sm from certain quarters, faces disguised in media interviews, a hush, hush, tread lightly attitude from the police, yet all the while the very concerned public are asked by the police and parents to keep searching! Keep searching where? Give me a break!

And in the interim, the 'official' Where's William Facebook (apparently run by the fp's in conjunction with Bravehearts) is marketing merchandise off the back of his disappearance! Merchandise includes Ribbons for $3, T-Shirts for $19.95, Baseball Caps for $14.95, ‘Tee and Cap’ for $30, Four T-Shirts for $70 – save $9.90, Four Caps for $50 – save $9.90. Stock is limited so orders are processed on a first come first served basis. Absolutely bloody disgusting IMO! Would I buy and wear any of this crap. NO! William Tyrrell is missing and in all probability is now dead. This case has become totally outrageous and something should be done about it very soon! The pussy-footing around and feeding the public ******** needs to stop. Caroline Overington where are you?

"Round the clock" = surveillance?

"Targeted abduction". Everything we know (or think we know) about the case screams of a targeted abduction. Why have the police said all along that it was opportunistic? They said they were looking for mistakes the abductor may have made. Have they only just now figured out that it was targeted, or uncovered evidence to suggest it was? It reminds me of what NC said about the abductor/s having done it "very well."

They are still talking about a pedophile ring.

I'm guessing the private function meeting was about lifting the barriers to William's parents being able to speak.

Thanks Frogwell. I know it's difficult when an article you've read then disappears behind a paywall. It seems everyone is making money from William's disappearance in one way or another, MSM included.

BBM. Private function is what get's me! If indeed that is how it was worded in the article. No disrespect Frogwell. A function to me is where people get together over drinks and/or a meal and everyone ends up half cut. Are the investigators hoping for a loose lips sink ships outcome?

The article is still on DT, although paywalled (I don't think it's right to paywall anything about William.)

"THE homicide team investigating the abduction of toddler William Tyrrell has been beefed up, with more than a dozen detectives and analysts now working around the clock..."

I hear you and totally get your outrage Makara. I strongly feel that the public would not give up trying to find WT even if they thought he was deceased. I guess that is my major resentment is enfolding the public to invest in something that is highly improbable without any reasoning given to the public to support except that there is no evidence that he is dead. The reality is a 3 year old went missing 18 months ago and could not survive a week on his own and has reportedly vanished without a trace. MOO

I do agree 100%, I think I just type nicer than I feel a lot of the time! Haha

The selfies make me pretty angry too amongst many other things in this case. At times I think no one has any clue who/what/why.

I hope police aren't holding things "too" close to the vest. That recently happened in another case I'm following. The poor child could have been found months ago if certain information would have been released. Was something so small that would have made a huge difference. That's what bothers me most about the secrecy. You can't ask for public's help if you are not telling them what to look for.......

I wonder if Caroline got in trouble for speaking out. Seems she has gone quiet after that!

Yes, it was a "personal plea at a private event" late last year.

Private event!!! What the hell is that all about? Perhaps it was when the fp's were interviewed for 60 Minutes? And that particular interview explained a whole lot to the public. NOT!

I think Caroline is ok. She didn't reveal any of the lies she referred to. She just revealed that there were in fact lies published in MSM about William's case. I believe her.

BBM. Which case was that Krig? I'm following a few of the cases in the States.

I seem to remember a photo of a fundraiser in, Longueville Hotel. To raise funds for the Where's William campaign. Follow on FB. 20/8/2015 post. The 2 women who help run the campaign, Alice Collins and Clare Collins run Insight Communications, a PR company. Private event might have been there. MOO

Lonzie Barton. Info wasn't disclosed to public on what landmarks his sister described seeing when Lonzie's body was hidden. Fellow WSers were able to find the spots in just a short time after info finally came out yesterday. Since so much time has passed could not get a COD. Just so sad.
