"Police dogs were brought in and they managed to find William’s scent, but only within the boundaries of the backyard."
http://www.aww.com.au/latest-news/news-stories/spiderman-found-in-search-for-william-20934

I wish we had more information about where in the garden each dog tracked the scent. It would be useful to know if the dogs tracked scent all the way to the roadside or not.

I don't know much at all about sniffer dogs but I understand that they can pick up scent even if the person was carried (due to shedding cells, hair etc) BUT....it is a very inexact science as has been mentioned before here....and I do wonder if he was grabbed and wrapped in a blanket or a jacket, would that then confuse the scent sufficiently??
Also, you would expect the dogs to find his scent in the backyard but can they tell which way he went, what is the most fresh scent? Im thinking if (as was mentioned at one time) the scent went to the roadside, could that be because when he arrived he got out of the car at the roadside, or when riding his pushbike earlier, as opposed to that being the last scent of him on the property??

Thanks for the people finder link. Interestingly when I type in the name of the vendor of 35 Benaroon Drive there are no hits. So he either has a silent number, doesn't live in Australia or is deceased.

No problem.

Silent number? I have one of those and have nothing to hide.

So he doesn't live in Australia, or is deceased. Could he currently be of No Fixed Address or on an extended 'holiday'? I suppose we've all found out the hard way how easy it is for someone to 'disappear off the face of the earth'.

I wonder if he's somehow connected to the one of the cars?

there have been the same quotes in other articles by paul savage....

A neighbour on the street told Daily Mail Australia he met William's father who was 'searching through the backyards heartbroken and frantic'.

The neighbour said that while he has lived on the street for seven years he did not know William or the boy's parents. He had however met the woman who lived in the house where William disappeared from.

'The boy came up from Sydney to visit a lady in the house,' he explained.
'It's been pretty full on. I've been here the whole time, people have been pouring through our back yards. I really hope he's found soon.

'Everyone in the street has been interviewed. It's really horrible,' he added.

The man said there hasn't been 'one burglary or incident' on the street the whole time he has lived there.

'It is a quiet peaceful area and it has been turned upside down.'

'When I heard I was on my ride on mower and saw a police car. Someone came running down the street. They said someone had just lost a kid. I took my dog for a walk and had a look for him. I wish he was found on the first day.'

I think I'm going to attribute that comment to a resident at number 11 and not PS, as he states he has lived in the street for 7 years, going off Koios previous posts. MOO

Running down the street, seems to indicate back toward the entry end. imo

I second that. Mower man = resident of #11. Also took his dog out to search for William.

Heather Savage 43 Benaroon Dr

Found who was at 11, 18 and 12 in 2005/2006, but none of those names have been mentioned in MSM.

Lydene Heslop's quotes from 2 different articles.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...r/news-story/03fb14d003bfb73d3c193b5f6731f74c

Another Benaroon Dr resident, Lydene Heslop, who lives further down the street, had been grocery shopping and *returned home minutes before William vanished.

She saw nothing out of the ordinary when she drove into the street and pulled into her driveway.

She said she was unloading groceries from her car when William was snatched sometime after 10.30am, just metres away from her home where her youngest child was inside.

She said at 11.30am there was a knock on the door and it was Anne-Maree from up the road and William’s mother.

“I didn’t hear anything, so if the person who took him came down Benaroon Dr, they did it without panicking or driving fast or taking off like an idiot, because I would’ve heard,” Ms Heslop said.

“That’s pretty good luck. Especially at 10.30am on a Friday when there should only be one kid on the street, which is mine.”

http://www.aww.com.au/latest-news/news-stories/spiderman-found-in-search-for-william-20934

It was a knock at the door, but instinctively Lydene Heslop knew something was wrong.

“It was so much more than just a knock,” recalls Lydene, a 36-year-old mother of two and volunteer bookkeeper for the local tennis club, on whose accounts she was working at time. “It was hard, insistent, a plea for help. Then I heard the voice of the woman who was knocking and I knew something awful had happened. It was a voice tinged with desperation.”

That voice belonged to the mother of a missing boy, William Tyrell, a three-year-old last seen wearing a blue and red Spiderman outfit, whose disappearance on September 12 last year has baffled NSW police and cast a dark and enduring pall over Kendall, a small and otherwise peaceful rural community on the NSW mid-North Coast.

“The mother and the grandmother were standing at the door. The mother said a little boy was missing, that he was playing in the backyard up the road and hadn’t been seen for about 25 minutes or so,” says Lydene. “She asked if I’d seen him, but of course, I was inside. I called out to my children, who were playing out the back, and asked if they’d seen him, but they hadn’t and then all three of us started searching through the front yard, the side of the house and the backyard and the bush that borders the properties around here.

“The mother had this haunted look on her face. I remember thinking that was how I would look if one of my children went missing. At one point, we all stopped to listen because he was only a little boy and if he was in the bush, then it wouldn’t have been long before he stopped and started crying. We didn’t hear a thing except the wind in the trees.”

Wow, unbelievable! LH definitely has at least 3 daughters, she is pictured with them, along with their names, in one of the articles. Also, the school children were in school that morning, there have been numerous indications of that, ie one child on the street had rode his bicycle for the first time that very day, another woman from outside of the street had driven her children to school there, and etc. So how suddenly were LH's children playing out the back? The reporting in regard to this case is the worst I have ever seen.

The same story in which he says Lydene Heslop was inside doing bookkeeping and her kids were playing in the yard, the same story where it was said that both FM and FGM were inside making tea at the time of WT's disappearance, etc.

The man seems to be a respected reporter, but he sure seems to have very different stuff from everyone else.

“Our starting point is approximately a five-minute window when young William walked around the side of the house into the backyard and disappeared from sight while his mother and grandmother went inside for a cup of tea. We are still at that point. This far into an investigation we might expect something to lead us in a new direction. That hasn’t happened. The truth is that we have nothing and that means we have to keep an open mind about what might have happened and that includes the possibility of human intervention and that he is still out there. That might be something good.”

What the police are unwilling to say publicly is that their investigation has also included those closest to William. Privately, it is known that all family members have been checked and eliminated from the investigation.

Homicide detectives may have new leads to work off in the disappearance of William Tyrrell.

There have been more than 100 calls to Crimestoppers and police since a $1 million reward was announced."

Sorry if already posted I'm so pleased people are calling in.

Just an FYI. There has been recent discussion in regard to whether or not it is believed that neighbour Mr. Wilson was home at the time of WT's disappearance. His wife was quoted saying that he was not home. I had asked if anyone happened to know the general age group of the W couple next door, wondering if perhaps Mr. W had already gone off to work. In one of the stories there is a photo of Mrs. W. I would hazard a guess that the couple is of retirement age. I suppose that is not proof that Mr. W *doesn't* also work. I also found that it appears he may have replaced the spot which FGM had previously held for years as an appointed trustee in regard to the Kendall Reserve Trust. It appears he immediately became 'vice chair'. Also, it seems his wife is a volunteer editor for the town's 'Chronicle' newsletter which is distributed free of charge to the town. ie it seems that the W couple are active and donate their time to the community. (Not that that really means anything!)

This article shows a photo of Mrs. W, as well as neighbour (#9) Lydene Heslop, with her 3 daughters:

I came across an older post from WS member Frogwell, who posted this link. In it the FM is thanking those who helped her in the first minutes, including Lydene Heslop and Ann-Maree Sharpley. This story show a pic of Ms. Sharpley. (6th face from left).

http://www.portnews.com.au/story/3263140/kendall-stands-strong/

It seems that Ms. Sharpley is also one of the neighbours who has since moved from the street, and I believe it is her property which is shown with the fence around the front, where the 2 vehicles were reportedly seen by FM. moo (Note: #s 30, 31, and 35 were all sold after WT disappeared - 30 is next door; #31 is the one with the weird pics, small home, cheaper price, urgent sale... so that is why I am *assuming* that #35 must have been Ms. Sharpley's residence at the time... unless #31, the weird one, is Ms. Sharpley's)

Mother Anne-Maree Sharpley, who lives across the road from William’s grandmother’s house, was sitting *inside reading a book before deciding to go outside her house to “get some sun”.

But by the time she did go outside, William had already been taken.

“I’d taken the kids to school and came home and cleaned up and sat down in the quiet with no TV and was just reading my book,” Ms Sharpley said.

“No cars, no cries, no nothing, it was just quiet.

“I’d actually just got a drink and was walking outside to sit in the sun and (William’s mother) was outside the gate.”

They have since moved - same phone number, different address.

MARION Dalton regularly enjoys a midmorning coffee with her daughter while sitting on the veranda of her Benaroon Dr, Kendall, home — giving her a perfect view of the street where young William Tyrrell happily played.
....

“My daughter lives around the corner and she comes around here and we sit on this veranda having a cup of coffee nearly every morning in the sunshine … that morning she phoned me and said she’d decided to go to my son’s place, so we weren’t out here, so we saw nothing,” Mrs Dalton said.

“That was the one day we weren’t sitting here. Of course it’s on our mind every day … of course it is. It’s changed the whole village.

“I’ve got grandchildren and I can’t allow them to go anywhere without me watching because you just don’t know what’s happened to William.”
