They must be sure it's him to be so blatant about naming him as the focus of the investigation. As usual I wish we knew more!

Oh jeez .. Makes you wonder about his motivations for marrying a woman taking care of two boys doesn't it?

"Don't give up looking" is pretty strange wording. A couple of FB friends of mine have both posted that they saw that post at the time and though to themselves it was weird even back then.

But strange wording doesn't prove anything in and of itself. In a way, I hope he IS involved, because the whole thing is very unfair to him if he isn't. If that makes sense?

This article says the sex crime squad is involved. I wonder if that is a new development since the computer search.

September 17,

Officers from the Sex Crimes Squad of the NSW Police State Crime Command joined the investigation yesterday.

Detectives from the specialist squad were deployed from Sydney to head up a strike force of more than 30 officers, including local detectives and investigators from further afield.

i wonder if he did become involved in the search,(as someone earlier posted) and pretty creepy (if hes guilty) if hes in any of those many photos of the ses and volunteer searches on the find william fb page!

The whitegoods repairman, William Harrie Speddy, was there to fix a washing machine, took a look at the broken appliance, said he needed to order it a new part and that he would return.

The 63-year-old grandfather says he never returned to that Kendall address - the home of William Tyrell's grandmother.

this isnt true though is it? wasnt his van mentioned as being there by that msm article?

If I recall correctly Williams grandmother stayed with friends elsewhere pretty soon after his disappearance......there wouldn't have been anyone at her residence most likely to deal with the repair of the washer. I don't know if/when she returned.

It would be wonderful if MSM had some interns to go over video footage of the search efforts to assist LE to that end wouldn't it?

here it is, where hes declared a poi

But police on Wednesday said Mr Speddy was a "person of interest" in the disappearance of the toddler as homicide officers spent a second straight day combing his property at nearby Bonny Hills for possible leads.

It is understood Mr Speddy has been previoulsy interviewed by police on two occassions - the second time he voluntarily returned to give officers a statement.

On the advice of his solicitior, he did not speak to media on Wednesday,

The caravan park was raided last week, but it was kept quiet until today:

Before that, a caravan park at Laurieton, about 15 minutes from Bonny Hill, was also searched by police last week as part of their investigation after a resident complained about hearing a child’s screams.

I'm going to get cramps from all this refreshing and typing, lol, but I can't see it stopping anytime soon.

Am I crazy, or didn't the most recent articles say the couple was no longer the focus, but now they are looking at the pawn shop business?

I assume they're connected, given his surname is Speddy, and the pawn shop was called Speddo's Pawn, or something like that.

In the smh article linked upthread they spell his name both Speddy and Spedding in the same article.

The Speddings have lived in the area for only a few years, and 9NEWS understands the police are focusing their investigation on the home and the pawnbrokers, rather than on the couple.

The searches, which began last night, were prompted by a call to CrimeStoppers, but police have said they have not yet found anything of significant value to the investigation.

right, I get you. The locations, but not the people.

Though... all those places belong to those people in some way?

Maybe a relative of theirs did something?

Wait - that article is now a 404, and the smh article linked upthread as of 7pm tonight said Bill Speddy is a person of interest according to police.

or associate or anyone who may have access/visit their house.......past/current kind of thing KWIM

IF that article is now 404 -- hmmm - things may have ''changed''

what is ''huge'' for me is that LE refuses to comment whether there is any ''relationship'' between the POI and missing child/family etc.

MOO

YEP. Just went to the article, and it is gone now. So they have updated. Back to Grandpa again it looks like.

Interesting that they say he was 'like magic' with the kids and went everywhere with them. I actually did have father like that and he was an amazing grandpa ---took my kids camping every summer, was so close to all his grandchildren. I would be so devastated if someone used that 'against him' to imply something sleazy.

Yet again, I did have an uncle that was always around kids too. And he molested a few, so, I am on the fence with this guy. :fence:

If a person is busy ferrying kids to sports outings every weekend, that leaves house empty and anyone could dispose of items there.

This is all just too weird! I can't decide how I feel, part of me says he could be an innocent man who's life has just been thrown up in the air over a "dodgy" tip off but then the other part of me says LE wouldn't go to this extent if they didn't have reasoning to do so. WS profile seems so normal like but also very open, I know for my parents who are in the same generation they are very security conscious online especially FB (the whole world is out to steal their info type thing). Maybe I'm overthinking but is his profile public so he seems to be living a normal life? Then again, maybe he doesn't realise that his profile is open for the world to see?
