New here. Thought I'd join and throw a few questions and observations out there.
I remember the Brosso murder like it was yesterday. I was a senior in high school and lived close to the murder. Brosso could easily have been me -- I was training for a backpacking trip and riding my bike on that path every evening, including the evening that Brosso was murdered.
I know some of the kids who saw the body the next morning and there are details that have never been released to the media. It was an utterly brutal killing.
Ironically, I think I also was acquainted with Miller when I was in college. I *believe* he attended -- or worked at -- Glendale Community College around 1993/1994ish. I don't remember a lot of details because it was so long ago, but I'm pretty sure he used to hang out in the computer lab? Long, long, time ago, and my memory is pretty fuzzy, but the name and face of the accused killer sure ring a bell. I think he had long bleached blond dreds, thick glasses, a scruffy goatee, and noticeably crooked teeth back then. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong and the killer didn't go there ... I remember this guy because we were both active in fandom, though our interests lay in different areas. I don't remember anything significant, just someone I knew through school.
Err -- possibly significant, the guy I knew attended science fiction conventions all over the country, including at least one Worldcon in 93 or 94. It would be interesting to cross-reference unsolved killings with sf conventions held at the same time in the same area, and see if he attended. (As someone active in fandom, the thought sickens me, but it is something that might be worth looking at.)
The accused killer has a deviantart account, BTW. I won't link to it because doing so seems to violate a few forum rules about NSFW content. You can find it with very little detective work (Miller seems to use the same handle across a broad spectrum of social media) if you really want to see it. I will say that his "favorite" list of art he likes is very, very ... suspicious. Decapitated/mutilated women, women being eaten, general blood and guts and gore, the horror amped up to 11, and it is all just very, very, disturbing. (As a side note, Deviantart.com has no rating limit on images, but for the most part, isn't anywhere near as "deviant" as the name suggests.)
Also -- is it possible he was in New York at some point?

I'm not sure if this is the same Byran Patrick Miller or not. Be worth following up on WHEN he was in NY, if it's the same guy. Don't know if this is the same person, however. (The Miller accused of the murder is definitely a very good writer, just based on his social media accounts, which is why this caught my attention.)
