The first video gives you an idea of what the truck looks like. Starting at 2:00, watch to see what the back of the truck looks like, including the bed and trunk area, where there is another compartment. The second video shows a boy fitting himself inside that trunk compartment.

Thanks Cloudajo...I didnt realize how much space there is in the bed of the Ridgeline!

I'm so glad a reward is finally being offered! I honestly didn't think it would ever happen.

From the link to the article regarding the reward:

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Harrod's disappearance to contact detective Dave Radomski at 714-993-8176, or contact the homicide hotline at 714-993-8166.

I too would like to see the terms of the reward, and can't help but wonder if one of Bobs kin came forward if they would be entitled to the reward.

Imo, there would be plenty of room for Bob in the bed of that type of truck, that is the same type of truck SIL owns...... and jmo, it would have been easy to back the truck up to the garage and bring Bob out through the garage.

I wonder if there is a side exit to the garage or if the garage door is the only exit.

I had no idea that there was that kind of open space under the truck bed.

Respectfully snipped --

The boy looks to be over five feet tall -- I'm going to guess at least 5'2"? And he fits in that compartment 'comfortably'. Even if the box was not covered with a fitted tarp or a hard top, a body of Bob's size could well fit in that compartment.

SIL's truck does have a hard top.

As previously posted, it is my opinion there is more than enough room for a man of Bobs size to fit in that size bed of the truck. However, it is also possible, although difficult to think about and type, that someone could have taken Bob out of that house while hurt but still alive and left him somewhere alive only to die hours later.

I don't think 15 months later any of us believe Bob is still out there alive.
If he had a point to prove he would have done so and appeared not long after his disappearance in July of 2009. I'd love to be wrong, and Bob appear alive and well, but I really do not believe that this many months later. IMO he was either taken out of that house deceased or barely alive and discarded, most likely with the old materials and any other unknown missing items (such as the linens or ?). He may or may not have been removed from the original dumping site at a later date.

I do hope LE is able to find the materials, as I believe those materials will lead to Bob or evidence of what happened to Bob.

I believe there is a side door from the garage. Using different aerial/street views of the neighborhood I can see many, if not all, of the houses have the garage side doors.

Question:

If a family member were to come forward with information against another family member in regard to what happened to Mr. Harrod, could they collect the reward?

I stumbled across the missing persons case of Peter Theriault, Irvine CA, looking for something else. Interesting to read his gf, Judy Valot received 15 to life for his murder even though his body has never been found and the only/primary physical evidence was 7 blood dropletsof the victim/MP.

I wonder if SIL took the polygraph or refused.

Did someone say polygraph again? Me first, me first, I wanna do it!

I don't think PPD has the resources but would be glad to see EVERYBODY have a polygraph! Yes indeed!

OC Reg. Feb. 5, 2010:
Loomis confirmed that police were using a lie-detector test, but would not disclose publicly the results or to whom the tests were being administered.

Posted by CA Exile on WS:
I just talked to Fontelle on the phone. She is holding up considering the circumstances. She is still living in Bob's house as is her right. She and Bob's daughters are still at war. They want her out and she wants her rights as a widow. Also, there is a lot of suspicion about the case. No proof, but the daughters have apparently been uncooperative. There could be several reasons for this. They may just be tired and want to get on with their lives. Or, something worse. Some took lie detector tests, some did not. They are trying to settle his estate and trusts. Hopefully, all of this can go to court and decisions can be made. Until then, no one will be at peace.

Thank you Clouda Jo! Mr. Harrod could have been stowed in the compartment and then other materials placed on top. Perhaps materials from the "home repairs."

It is being offered!!! Thank you Montjoy for providing me the info...I am so happy that the Harrod Family Trust, aka the same co conservators who appeared in court on Tuesday, have found it in their hearts to offer a reward for Mr. Harrod's discovery/return.

http://www.ocregister.com/news/harrod-276735-disappearance-reward.html

It is tempting to quarterback on why now, but let's just savor the fact that it has finally been done in spite of the time that has passed and the memories that have faded.

Bob is sponsoring his own reward and that is how it should be. Money well spent Bob. Money WELL SPENT.

Beautiful picture of Fontelle and excellent information from Loomis again about the fact that this case is in homicide. And being investigated as a homicide.

I would love to see the terms the reward is being offered under, but hey. It is finally there. Happy Thanksgiving Bob. :)

I just hope this isn't a day late and dollar short.

How is the news of a reward going to get out to the public? Hopefully the daughters, GS,and SIL plan to plaster reward flyers through-out Mr. Harrod's neighborhood and beyond.

Or at Home Depot...that might be a good place to drop a few flyers. See if anyone remembers anything from that day.

They just need to track the movements of that truck. Surveillance videos and cell phone pings as discussed, but I wonder if the truck has a built-in navigation system that was turned on at the time? If it does, can the police track vehicle movements on a certain day(s) via stored log files?

Also, I wonder about that alleged earlier trip to CVS for soda and paper plates. Did SIL arrive at Bob’s in the AM and then go out and buy soda and paper plates, and then return to Bob’s house, or did he stop at CVS on the way to Bob’s house? If he went out to CVS after arriving at Bob’s house, was there another destination at that time? If SIL was with Bob at his house until the afternoon, did they eat lunch together? As we know, doing home repairs and odd jobs can work up quite an appetite.

Hopefully all the local Home Depot locations. IIRC there were three within a short distance of Bobs home.

Hopefully some of our locals can let us know if they see any of the new fliers up! And hoping they generate much needed tips for Bobs case.

BBM. Excellent point! I hadn't really thought about it, but it makes no bloody sense that J would have made a second 3 hour or so round trip on Tuesday to change the linens on Bobs bed when her darling husband was making that trip on Monday - when Bob went missing.

[snipped]

I wanted to bump this because I think it is important. Why didn’t daughter J go with her husband that Monday and “change the linens” and get the house “ready” while her husband did the “home repairs?” It’s not like she had a job she had to be at on Monday, and IIRC she didn’t seem to like going down the hill.

Let’s look at the post again from Aug 4, 2009. Think about it – her father is missing, she is calling the local hospitals and the coroner’s office (relating to dead bodies), and then she is going to Bob’s house to change the linens? It defies logic no matter how they try to spin it after the fact.

My dad lives in Placentia which is no where near Van Nuys, I believe is near LAX he lives between John Wayne Airport and Ontario Airport. I appreciate the lead. I did learn something that when he went missing, before I went dth to get the house ready, linens changed for he and his wife; I started to call all the local hospitals. Then I was directed to call the Coroner's office which I did and they had only 1 John Doe and he was Hispanic. They did however have me e-mail me photos and all his information to them and they would send out a "blast fax" which is a huge distribution list to all the hospitals and other institutions.

I guess the question becomes did daughter J send the photos to the coroner who then sent out a blast fax? And was the coroner our friend, David Van Norman? I can easily give him a call and see...his records are very precise.

Bob was born June 1, 1928.

He worked for ~50 years, supporting his family, living within his means, and smartly managing his money.

He retired in 2002, in his early 70’s.

He had just turned 81 years old on June 1, 2009.

It must have been difficult for Bob’s three grown daughters, SIL, and grandson to raise the $50K. I wonder how much each of them kicked in. Oh that’s right, the $50K is Bob’s hard-earned money. Bob is funding the reward.

Just in case they are too busy, exhausted, or bewildered to post fliers, can we do some sort of a mailing to get the word out about the reward?

Maybe now his fellow Mason's will be more interested ;). Can anyone take a stab at altering his flyer to include the reward info and post it here?

We might be able to find a way to get the three home depots to put them up, Walmart's in the area as well as the Mason's.

Interesting......

Please ask him. Let us know.
