So are we to assume that they made it to Rincon? If they needed to stop at that gift shop, why not just make the trip to Harrahs, one stop, instead of stopping at Valley Center then Casino then stopping again for a gift shop.

I googled gift shops in Rincon - can't find any - except in Harrahs.

I wonder if they only looked sickly and worn out because they hit the heat and sun on the walk to the car after they came out of an air-conditioned casino where it may have been cold enough for her to have needed her jacket?

He apparently walked out to the car somewhere in the parking lot and brought it back closer to the casino where she was waiting. He then left the car and went back to get her. A lot of walking in the heat for an elderly man! Do we know where the car was parked and then where he brought the car up to the curb? Do they have a handicap sticker on their car?

Which would have been a perfect place to celebrate Mothers Day, instead of having elderly parents drive another 2 or 3 hours from the casino to their son's home for a very late in the afternoon, on a Sunday, barbecue. MOO!

Thank you!!! I always meet my grandparents and parents halfway unless they are spending the night. But then again I don't have kids so maybe that factors in.

I looked but couldn't find information on if Valley View Casino had a gift shop. Nothing was listed on their website but don't most the hotel/casinos have a gift shop? My question would be, why did they leave there, but stop at another casino/hotel to go to that gift shop instead?

They were said to frequent the casino at least once a month and have a player's cards there.

Yesssss....people who gamble love to spend their e-cash. Harrah's Total Rewards club is very generous with their e-cash. They do expire...so it's play it or lose it.

Valley View Casino takes Harrah's Total Rewards??

I don't think so. They prob have their own promotions. But I mentioned Total Rewards because if they were to have some ecash to Harrah's Rincon....and it was close enough to run over there and quickly play through the ecash... it's a possibility. But I think if they were there... cameras would have caught them and I'm sure it would have come out by LE.

I was told by the Lady who runs the Facebook Search page that they were seen in a gift shop in Rincon after leaving the casino, but they were only there 5 mins.

Interesting that that is specific information, but yet on the facebook page,

https://www.facebook.com/MissingPaulandDianna/info?tab=page_info

it states that they were last seen coming out of the Valley View Casino & Hotel On Mothers Day.

Why wouldn't the facebook page update this information to reflect that they were last seen at a gift shop in Rincon?
IMOO.

I wonder why this sighting in Rincon is not in any updates from LE. This San Diego Sheriff's update was May 12, 2015 and it states:

Sheriff's Search and Rescue has not been activated, since Knutson and Bedwell left in a car and there is not a specific area to search. San Diego and Riverside County Sheriffs' Departments have conducted aerial surveillances around logical routes the couple would have taken without success. A parallel investigation is ongoing and specific details cannot be discussed at this time.

This update was in the Press Enterprise May 18, 2015:

No new clues have developed in the disappearance of a married couple that was last seen leaving a Valley Center casino on their way to visit their son in La Quinta, said Jan Caldwell, a spokeswoman for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, on Monday, May 18.
Cecil Arthur Knutson and Dianna May Bedwell left the Valley View Casino about 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in their white 2014 Hyundai Sonata with California license 7EHE981, officials said.
Both parents are diabetic and may be without their medication, officials said.
Anyone with information about the couple’s whereabouts is asked to call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at 858-565-5200 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

Julie Michael with Team Amber Rescue volunteers said the group has walked or driven every possible route imaginable. They’ve searched from Indio to Borrego. Every dirt road, paved road and even driveways and Indian land where given permission, Michael said.
This week, volunteers say they are hoping to get wall-sized maps from Valley View Casino so they can target new search areas beginning this weekend.

Michael said there have been just a few tips and the number of volunteers helping in the search has varied between 10 to 50 on different days.
"There really are no clues," Michael said adding that they only know the couple turned left leaving the casino parking lot.
"That's the biggest challenge we're facing is that there absolutely nothing to go on," she said.

Treelights found this
yes, this is the same video with new narration and old clips, but that just says they think they turned right towards the Harrah's in Rincon.

That is not validated and no where is a gift shop mentioned. Where does the gift shop come in?

Yeah...being seen in the other casino is HUGE. That would change the whole dynamics of areas being searched.

Why doesn't somebody ask them on the their page? The admins seem to be answering questions.

This lovely couple may have had a misunderstanding with the son (or whomever) and they didn't actually commit to the BBQ but maybe only said they'd try to go there. This is a logical reason (of many possible) on why they might visit multiple casinos that day. However, theirs might not have be one of the white cars in the video. We don't know yet, it's not been verified.

And they might have chosen to pick up a cake at the grocery right before getting to the home, so assuming they have dessert in the car is not substantiated.

This whole gift shop thing is a rumor that needs to stop until MSM or LE come out with it. It's detracting from finding them.

It is also possible that the 4pm time for the cookout was merely a suggestive arrival time. Maybe they knew they wouldn't actually be eating there until later, so decided they had time to do other things before going.

We host lots of cookouts/family events and we always say "come at 2pm" or whenever, but we might not be actually eating until later.

Someone asked:

Has it been confirmed that they were spotted at Harrah's Rincon in the gift shop or is this a rumor?

Prayers to all of you!

"Their son told NBC 7 he was expecting them for Mother's Day dinner at 4 p.m."

"He said when they didn’t show up by 4:30 p.m., he started dialing both their cellphones repeatedly, but no one answered."

I come from a family of chronic gamblers and was one myself at one time. When you got the fever...you tend to put off things. Also with the no eating....totally normal. You lose your appetite when gambling. And when you are at a machine...there is no way you can leave if you have already dumped money in. The jackpot is getting ready to hit and the lady behind you....wants your seat. So it's hard to leave to go eat. We always tease my 70 year old mom about her not eating and how we are gonna have to hook her up to an IV. She will not leave that machine.
