YES. This sad case made me think twice about Maricela and if she had any friends that would have reason to make her disappear. :thinking:

This is the first time I have really looked into it. I am just so shocked. I have been way too naive and innocent. Did you know there is an app where you take a picture of your hotel room then it goes into a database and those rooms are compared to the rooms girls are in when advertised? Just floored that we should even have to do something like that.

It is not unusual for multiple agencies to be involved in large sting operations that are typically necessary for crimes such as HT. Of course there will be local agencies because of their knowledge of the immediate area and criminals that are known to them, but with so much HT involving crossing of state lines there has to be federal agency involvement as well.

I highly recommend contacting Dream Center in LA. They are one of the oldest and largest rescue groups for girls and women who are victims of HT. I'm sure they will be more than helpful with any questions you may have concerning HT.

I haven't dealt with any human trafficking cases personally so my knowledge is limited.

I was on board with this theory until we found out the family was lying about her knowing the Church/area. There had to be a significant reason for them to decide they needed to lie about this and potentially impede the investigation. I can't believe they would do that if she was doing something as innocent as meeting up for a modeling gig.

Seems like looking for a needle in a haystack. If you still are in communication with the family, I'd be inclined to push for more information about who she was meeting and why. They have to know something.

I think you may be right that she was kidnapped, but I think prostitution probably wasn't the reason for the meetup. Why meet at 7:30 at night with the sister there? I think it was a drug deal. We know she has a history of drug use, we know she didn't look so healthy in recent pictures. We were mainly relying on the sister's assertion that she has been clean for a year (which seems suspect now).

I still have a couple of theories. Like I was telling someone earlier, it would be stupid to lock in on theory and exclude all the rest. I think drugs and prostitution both are in play here. We know she led a high risk lifestyle...just not sure which one got her abducted. If it was drugs, she's probably dead and if I think that, then there is no hope. Just like a random sex crime would also leave me no hope. I am looking into both of those possibilities...as well as any of us can from a computer. Kidnapped for the purpose of prostitution, tho, means she is more than likely alive and looking for ads are at least something I can do. I feel so powerless, even wasting time looking on Backpage gives me the feeling that I am doing something, ya know?
And I still haven't ruled out that she ran off. I don't think it likely, despite her knowing the area and I'm not sure why she wouldn't at least contact LAPD and tell them to tell her family to back off, but what do I know? Maybe she's too strung out to notice/care. And please don't think I am implying that she uses drugs or is strung out....that, imo, would be the best case scenario.

I'm at a loss. I'm trying to think of a scenario where I would go missing at/around the Church I attended as a child, and my family would tell people I hadn't ever been there to their knowledge. I guess they would say it if they thought it was somehow protecting me. Not coming up with anything that totally fits.

I dont think yall missed her, but yes, addicts do sneak out from any and everywhere to use! My ex-boyfriend once stepped out of his NA meeting to use...... I always thought part of his addiction was seeing how much he could do right under people's noses and then be able to lie and explain his way out. The lies and the deceit and the risky behavior become part of it, lots of times.

Ok, here's another theory. The family has reason to believe MG left voluntarily, but they don't like who she left with. If they honestly represented the information surrounding MG's disappearance, nobody would look for her. So, they changed the story to make sure there was an effort to find her.

Have you talked to anybody outside of the family? (friends, work colleagues, anybody). Would be good to get a different perspective.

I think that if this case gets stale , the family may change their minds about being so evasive. Maybe they'll feel the need to release more accurate information as time goes on. The problem with being evasive is that sometimes people will see it as being lied to and lose interest fast if they feel games are being played.

I agree that there's a big difference in her pictures. The modelling pictures show a young beautiful girl but then the drivers license photo shows extremely heavy make-up and not model- like. It is possible that maricela ran off to go use drugs based on her past but I just don't see her leaving like that. That's a way complicated escape plan when she could've just walked out of her home at any time, if she wanted to go.
